Your an absolute fool. Spotify doesn’t do shit for independent artists. UA-cam is free to use without need for distribution and when you start getting good numbers you actually get payed. That’s a good platform for independent artists. But SPOTIFY??? I mean really, I haven’t heard a more out of touch take. Especially seeing as recently they put a new plan into effect making it even harder to be recognized discovered or payed as an independent.

not sure i can call mine "calluses" anymore, with the way i set my strings height and the strings i use (polywebs from Elixir) i got it quite easy on myself, i think ... my fingertips have thicker skin, true, but no bumps (that only happened maybe almost 10 ago, last time, for having a bit of bad training discipline); very convenient, like glove finger tips; Now i don't know if people call thickened skin as "calluses" in general (not a native english speaker either), but if you do get those bumps (maybe painful too) just try to change something (setup, technique, strings, training session length), maybe even take a break, like a month or two, then comeback at it easier..

It's ok to play live using backing tracks. There is one rule tho, you should always back the rhythm and play the lead. I saw Within the Ruins once and I was so disappointed to notice that the sick guitar track was in playback while the guitarist played the breakdown. If you don't follow that rule, it's easy to speed up tracks in the studio, use them live and play the easy rhythm. Nonetheless, backing tracks are a sensitive topic.

They def can play. I know their new drummer. He wouldnt be in the band if they werent the real deal. He's got mad integrity for his craft and that really says it all. That said, tracking stuff slowly to get an inhuman amount of tightness is their vibe and they can play it live so i see no reason to believe that they are being disingenuos. That method of tracking and writing is a totally valid expression. As far as the label thing, idk. Not my business lol

So the "conspiracy theory" (which is the wrong term to use) you are speaking of is about how over 10 years ago, Lucas in fact sped up all of his recording which is why Rings of Saturn didnt play a single live show for 8 years. To give Lucas time to actually learn how to play his own music correctly. Thats all anyone is saying is that he definitely sped his stuff up in recording before he was actually able to play it. Which is no problem.

I think you could make a riff even more interesting if you would combine that with something else. For example diminished* in the end or something like that.. Also you can try the scale from the pulp fiction intro for example (on one string it would be: 0-1-4-5-7-8-11-12). *only small triads. Try starting it a half-note under your keynote because it's easy to modulate into other keys from there.

I've heard dimes dropped on Lucas and Nuclear Blast. Lucas has clearly had issues with people and groups. But I've also heard from ex N.B. bands say that the label makes a lot of false promises and underpaying artists. Who TF knows in this situation.

The fact that Nuclear Blast isn’t saying exactly what Lucas Mann exactly said which means it’s more than likely spilling the beans as you say about something going on behind the scenes at Nuclear Blast. Lucas definitely debunked it. They have all the raw feeds from all the live shows as well. Some musicians and biased non musicians get jealous that they are hearing something that they themselves can’t pull off so they bash it. You are 💯 % correct.
