Morse Runner CWT 30wpm
I've been neglecting Morse Runner lately, so I tried a run set to CWT at 30wpm. I can see I need more practice at this, that first callsign threw me a curveball and I busted a couple of names as well. Otherwise not bad, but I need a keyboard that doesn't already use the function keys for system items like volume etc. I have my exchange set to TTTT because I don't have a number, I suppose I could have just used my state as well.

Does Morsle repeat itself?

Morsle has a fixed pool of words, and a RNG, so it's entirely predictable that it will repeat itself at some point. I recorded another video of 8 minutes without a single word being repeated, but in this one the word EPOXY occurs twice in around 1.5 minutes at 1:30 and 3:18. Not a problem, just an observation. Rufz vs Morsle at 35wpm

I tried running Rufz at fixed speed 35wpm to see how I did on HamCodes vs the plain English words of Morsle. Hamcodes are usually shorter but are harder to deduce off partial copy. QS? could be 1 of 26 Q-Signals after all. Turns out QSA is a request for a RST report, I learn something every day. cw morse code head copy qrq practice

I've played a lot of Morsle, to the point that I stopped because I felt like the word pool was getting too familiar to me. I played again today and I suspect that the pool of words was increased because I saw many words I'd not seen prior. Rufz Trainer Mode 25 to 50 wpm

So Rufz is a little more interesting than I thought! In trainer mode I selected "Ham Codes" with incremental linear speed and got something far more useful in training, at least for me. I'm not in an organized study program, I just look around and combine and synthesize practice methods that I see elsewhere. Instead of random QSO words, you can also play using CWops member callsigns for head copy practice. Breaking the call into two segments makes you "hold" it in your head, that's a real benefit to this kind of drill. Morsle is different than KC4T's Head Copy in that the words are not common QSO words from amateur radio, they are just random (and sometimes odd - knurl?) words from the English language. I like the format of Morsle but the vocabulary of KC4T. The KC4T website morse.mdp.im has a number of games for practicing CW copy. This one sends you 2 common QSO words, you get one chance to identify them both. After three missed words the game is over. Look, I never said I was any good at this...🤪 I merged 4 short runs of 60wpm callsign copy into one video. At this speed It seems to take me 3 fills on average after the initial callsign. A couple of videos merged together for more viewing time in case there is someone who likes to watch this stuff. I feel reasonably comfortable copying callsigns at this speed, I get a few right on the first pass, many more on the second, and only a few really throw me for a loop (like J42S at the end of this clip). Thanks, my goal is solid (callsign) copy at 45WPM. I practice at higher speeds and it seems to help. 60 seconds of decent call sign copy is a far cry from solid QSO copy with QRM/QSB though. The struggle is real.
