Exploring The Book of Galatians Along The Colorado BDR (#55) Galatians Chapter 1
The collective knowledge of the entire world is literally at our fingertips. We are inundated with information and influence every moment of every day from all over the world and we carry this distraction in our pockets and treat it like an appendage. Some of the information we glean from it is useful, and dependable. Some of it, not so much. Deciding what is good and what is not can easily become very confusing.
Less than a year after being established, the Churches in Galatia are having a hard time. They are confused by a Gospel “which is really no Gospel at all.” (Galatians 1:7) and Paul has a few things to say about that. Maybe his message can help clear a few things up for us too.
Join me as I explore the book of Galatians while attempting to ride the Colorado BDR.
Welcome to the Iron Ride.

Arizona Peace Trail Speed run FAILED. Day 2 (#54) Mittry Lake to Martinez lake. Obsticals everywhere

God’s plans do not always mirror ours. “There are many plans in a man’s heart. Nevertheless the Lord’s counsel - That will stand” Proverbs 19:21. Our plans, or at least my plans, rarely succeed. “for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good and sends rain on the just and the unjust” Matthew 5:45. When that happens I have to remind myself that, whether I see it or not, it’s ultimately f...

@scottwhyte6284 🤣 nice. Thank you making it to the end of the video. And of course thank you for watching. God Bless. 👏
Speakers?
@@silverbackpauly4814 nope. No speakers.
Born and raised in AZ. This is a bucket list drive for me!
@MrEMann it's an awesome trail that actually goes all the way to the Canadian Border. I haven't followed it out of Arizona....yet. 🤷♂️🤔🤠
I ride a 2011 KLR 650, and i found a channel that loves the Lord, spreads the word and rides a KLR 650 on epic off road adventures while doing it!?! I'm definitely subscribing! Love it! As a side note, i have been warned about Bible versions that have altered Romans 11:13 and the NKJV is one of those. I recommend the KJV or the NIV bible because Paul is THE apostle to the Gentiles, singular. And he's like my second favorite person in the Bible. God Bless, and i love what yer doing here! 🙏🏍
@biggooddad this has got to be one of, if not the most encouraging comment I've received. Thank you for that encouragement. I really appreciate it. I've heard and read a lot of stuff about pretty much every translation of the Bible. 🤷♂️🤣. The unfortunate reality of any translation of pretty much anything is that it is almost never perfect. I actually use multiple translations. The 2011 copyright of the NIV is my preferred, followed by the KJV and the NKJV. I really like using the MOUNCE reverse interlinear New Testament. Which provides the original Greek wording in the English word order. The MOUNCE really helps me to dive into the full meaning of the Greek that was used in the New Testament. Now if I can just find a usable Hebrew literal translation for the old Testament. I'd probably get a headache diving into that but it would be worth it 😃. And the KLR is an absolute beast. It just needs a better rider than me. 🤣
@@TheIronRide Thanks for the compliment, it's just that from that one video, so far, i have found the perfect channel for me. God works in mysterious ways indeed. Check out Les Feldick if you haven't already on youtube and let me know what you think of his Bible teachings. I think you might like him. Les was my Dad's go to for online Bible study here at the house in his last years before he died and now that i have gotten much deeper into the Bible i find him to be very helpful. If you ever get to the S.W. Missouri Ozarks i would love to show you around, I'm almost 63, and grew up riding dirt bikes in the Southern California desert, i love my KLR and believe it or not i still love riding a good sketchy trail. All the best and God Bless!
Thanks for the effort to provide the video..
It's my pleasure
nice upgrade bass. I'm thinking of a KLR myself. hope things are good down there
@jonathanbritt so far so good brother. I do enjoy the KLR. cheap and easy to work on. If you get one, the extended warranty from Kawasaki is worth it. I've already used it, and it saved me about $3000.
Love it. That’s how you do it! For the King!
@advfortheking I appreciate it brother. It took me a while, but I finally figured out what my channel is supposed to be. 🙂👍
@@TheIronRide good to hear, if I was better at preaching I would do the same, only trust myself to declare the scriptures atm. But one day I will do something similar. God Bless
@advfortheking I don't know that I'm good at preaching. 🤷♂️ I'm just fumbling through my thoughts on scripture. There was alot of rambling and thus alot of cutting in post. 🤣
Did you have another channel before?
@NigelNaughton My channel has had 2 previous names. Started at "Serenity Off-Road" I changed it to "The Overland Cowboy" which I was never a huge fan of. I finally decided on "The Iron Ride." to really reflect the new direction of the channel. Exploring Scripture while adventure riding.
@@TheIronRide awesome 😎
Nice vid. It was disappointing to see you want to visit public lands, and the government closing off nearly every road. They treat it like it's their private property, but the area belongs to the citizens of America.
@tucobenedicto1780 thank you for joining us. I'll be honest I'm always a little torn when it comes to closed trails on public land. On one hand, I understand that nature needs time and opportunity to "repair" itself after some significant use by motor vehicles, and I do support temporary closure of trails to that end. Otherwise, the natural beauty I love about trail riding disappears from overuse. On the other hand, you're not wrong. Too much government overreach and regulation also prevents us from enjoying all nature has to offer. I suspect if the trail closures were fewer and further between, and we actually trusted that the BLM agency was, in fact working to better serve the public and not so much the government itself (or in recent, profit from attempting selling public lands as its doing in Utah), trail closures wouldn't bother us so much.
I've seen others complete the AZPT on motorcycles, but mostly dual-sport thumpers that are half the weight of your KLR. Also, they carried very little luggage. Deep sand is a beast, that's for sure. I know the "stand on the pegs, go faster" advice, but when you have to turn, that doesn't work; as soon as you slow for the turn, the bike sinks in. Easy solution would be to take a dual-sport with someone following you in a SxS, carrying the gear for both of you; that way, you could go super light & fly through most sections.
It's always good to see your comments. I have managed to lighten my load considerably, and I've been putting in some sand "training" riding. Lol. Ive also put on tires better suited to sand and improved my navigation hardware. I am already making plans to try another "speed run" of the AZPT on the KLR. I may not fly through sections but it should be a little easier next time. 🤞
I've owned a KLR & I've traversed the Peace Trail; you're a better man than me if you can do it with a KLR.
Unfortunately, I haven't been able to complete it yet, but I'm not done trying. It is now a personal challenge to complete the AZPT on the KLR. At least, that's the plan 🤠. I appreciate your continuing support, brother. God bless.
On a KLR too let's go!!
Right on. I love the KLR. simple, dependable, inexpensive...almost cheap. Which means I don't mind dropping it and scratching it up a little. Thanks for joining me. 🤠
I think you've committed the common new adv rider sin. You've packed too much shit on to your bike. If you don't use it, lose it.
You might be right. I have changed my loadout. Switched to some lighter gear and got rid of a few pounds of excess weight. I put some slightly more aggressive tires on and upgraded my suspension. Hopefully, that will take me through this section when I try it again. 🤞🤠
Oy. We attempted this in our 4x4 sprinter van. Holy hell it was a SLOW go for us. We had to skip a lot and only finished half in 1 week. Fun to watch someone actually do it.
I'm glad you're enjoying the videos. I haven't finished the AZPT yet, but I'm still working on it, one weekend at a time as life permits. I'm glad you got a chance to join the adventure and a chance to ride part of the AZPT yourself.
It's cool to see you out there trying it and getting after it but I'll admit, this was painful to watch. I wish I could've been there to tell you what to do and give you guidance etc. I'm saying this as a Dad who just went with his son to buy him his first motorcycle and I rode it home for him so he could learn in a safer environment. But I'm glad he's stepping out of his comfort zone and doing it just like you. Take care and be safe!
awe. Thanks dad. 🤣 Let me tell ya it was painful to ride 😋. I've been riding for over 20 years. None of it was off-road, and correct off-road riding feels very wrong to me. 🤷♂️😆 I am trying though. I know most of the concepts of riding off-road. It's the execution I'm having trouble with. I'll get the hang of it eventually. I've ridden sand successfully before, but that was unloaded. The weight definitely got in my head. I am going to ride that section again. Hopefully, I'll make you proud next time. 🤞🤠
The faster you go on the sand the easier it is to ride, you may feel like you're going to slip out at times but just mantain the same speed and the bike will straighten itself out. If you freak out and slow down the bike will just dig into the sand and make you stall , then potentially tip over..
I learned firsthand about slowing down and digging in. 🤣 I do appreciate the advice. Contrary to what I displayed on this trail, I have ridden sand very successfully before. Long, soft washes, actually. However, I did not have any gear with me at the time, and I had a better front tire 🤷♂️. The weight of my camping gear got in my head on this ride. I honestly just needed to get out of my own way. I have switched to more aggressive tires and changed up my load out since. I will be taking on this section of the Arizona Peace Trail again. You'll have to watch and see if I can get out of my head and follow your advice. 🤠. And as always, thank you for joining me.
THIS IS GODS WILL FOR YOU IN CHRIST JESUS. AMEN! FIRST VIDEO OF YOURS I'VE SEEN AND THAT COMMENT MADE ME SUBSCRIBE. THANK YOU LORD
It didn't start out this way, but I feel like God has called me to use this channel as a ministry. I'm no preacher or bible scholar, so it should be interesting, at least 😆. Thank you for joining me. "As iron sharpens iron, So a man sharpens the countenance of his friend." Proverbs 27:17. Welcome to the Iron Ride.
How do you like your MSR adventure gear? 😊
It great gear. Durable, Inexpensive, high quality gear. I think the water bladder holder is one of my favorite things about the jacket. I just bought the MSR gloves based on the quality of the adventure gear because I've had a hard time finding good Inexpensive riding gloves. So far I absolutely love all of it. I get compliments on it alot too. 🤠
You should be going faster and standing up on the pegs. Weight has nothing to do with it. I have a 1200 GS with full camping gear so I'm very heavy. You'll tier less. 😊👍👍 Good job mate.
Thank you for the advice. And for watching. But weight has something to do with it. Mostly messing with my head 🤣. My front tire was not helpful either. I have remedied all of those "problems" now I just have to get out of my head and ride it like I know how. 🤠 Getting stuck was totally my fault. I will be taking on that section again. I will push through it a little faster next time. At least, that's the plan. 🤷🤣
So a basic tip for soft sand is speed and stand up on the pegs. It's counter intuitive as when you approach stuff that makes you uncomfortable you want to sit down and go slower for more control, but with soft sand that will tired you out more and make it harder, what you want to stand so that you're not adding mass and momentum when the bike wallows around, let the bike kinda find and make it's own path and loosely guide it and you want the speed to go more over the top of it rather than through it. Kinda like how a boat works where the faster it goes the higher out of the water it rides. There are videos out there that explain this stuff way better than I can I recommend looking at a couple to get some different takes. Respect for getting out there and hitting the dirt.
Im glad you joined the ride here on UA-cam. Thank you for the advice. I always appreciate good riding tips. Lord knows I need them. 🤠 Believe it or not, I know the concept of sand riding, It's the execution I have a problem with. 🤣 I've ridden long deep washes before but with no gear and a much better front tire. The weight got in my head for sure, and the front tire certainly didn't help. I've recently managed to shed some weight with different camping gear and added tires better suited for sand. I plan on taking on that section again. I will definitely keep your advice in mind. Thank you again. 🙂👍
Good job Jeremy
Thank you ma'am 🤠
Some of the only content I could find of Cedar, Arizona! Thank you!
I'm glad I could help. I still have a lot of Arizona Peace Trail to explore. It's taking considerably longer than expected 😂. Thank you for joining me. I hope you find the other videos just as helpful.
Great video, do you carry a emergency satellite communication device?
Thanks for joining me. I'm glad you enjoyed it. I don't have a satellite communication device, but i do plan on getting the Garmin inreach mini 2.

Always good to see you in the comments Adam. If I could just figure out how to make a living from UA-cam videos I could be more consistent 🤣. Thanks for joining me again and for your continued support.
Dollars to donuts that trash is from valley trash.

Nice and worthwhile mods! I purchased a '23 KLR and I have done similar mods. I shop around for the best deals to keep the KLR cheapskate owner theme. Yep, the clutch switch bypass makes a big difference, at least to me.
The clutch bypass is one of my favorite mods. Making it a switch so I can turn the mod off and on is especially nice. I'm with you, I try to keep the KLR the cheap bike it was always meant to be. I am looking at upgrading the skid plate though. The Amazon special is pretty banged up. I'm not sure it has much left in it. 🤷😅
@@TheIronRide I installed a Enduro Engineering skid plate on my with the optional shock linkage protector. That is a reasonably priced plate that has pretty good engine coverage, but I cannot attest to it's durability as of yet.
@MaverickMotoAdventurer that is the exact skid plate set up I'm looking at. It's a good looking, sturdy looking plate and you can get a linkage guard for not a whole bunch of money. 👍🏼
Thank you for taking us. Nice place
Thank you for joining me. 🤠

I most definitely have and continue too. I'm working on more adventure riding content right now. 🤠

Enjoyed the video! The "Get Lost Brandon" channel sent me here.
Very cool of him to recommend my channel. Thank you for joining me. I'm glad you enjoyed the ride. I'm planning on many more motocamping adventures. I'm already planning a BIG adventures for next year I'm very excited about. 🤠
Thanks for bringing us along, I found on my KLR, the first few long rides left me quite sore. Im not sure if the seat just broke in eventually, or if its that i started wearing padded riding shorts (i think the later) but id consider a pair maybe. I get along fine after consecutive 12 hour days now
Thank you for joining me sir. I ended up with a seat concepts saddle covered with the maddog seat pad and and a sheepskin. The seat concepts saddle alone is too firm for my sensative rear end but I do like the shape of the saddle. 🤣 Seems to be doing better. Time will tell. 🤞
Great Trip! Let er' buck! I came for the KLR 😋
I knew someone would show up just for Hidalgo. 🤠 I'm glad you enjoyed the trip and I appreciate you joining me. There will be much more KLR content coming. I'm really enjoying the Adventure bike trips. 👍🏻
I went the back way to Mount Lemmon today for the first time. ❤️I went up the main way at least four times. I’m from Maine originally and whenever need to hit my reset button I take a drive up Mount Lemmon
I can apreciate your trip along the Devils Highway. I grew up in the Foothills of Yuma Arizona and , my faily was one of the first to buy land there. Where your family camped at the High Tanks I have been camping there sine about 1982. I know that mountain range as well as the others along your route very well. The Fortuna mine especially has a place in my heart and has a great history with me. Today it looks nothing like it did back in the early 1980's. There was still a lot of artifacts in the area to be discovered such as tin cans and furbniture and even clothing. The water used at that mine was pumped from the colorado river which was a feat in itself. Just to the north of that mine is a little known trail that crosses the mountains. My best friend and I first attempted it 19 years ago. After 3 attempts in 18 years last year on the second of september. a very wet , rainy and cloudy day we finally made it through. It was a major acomplishment for us as we had never had a 4x4 with the capabilitys to actually make it. It's not a trail for any jeep. you must have a excellent co driver / spotter who is willing to move rocks and build roads. We were able to do it in about 18 hours and along the way there is a few left over vehicles from people who did not make it and decided there is no wauy to retrieve their broken trucks. Any way I tell you this because like I said that area has a special place in my heart a alot of really great memories. I explored those mountains and that desert daily growing up and I still do. I also work for the company that built that section of border wall. So you see that desert lives in me as much as I live in it. It always calls me back. Thank you for your video and respecting that desert.
That is an awesome history with the area. I'm glad I was able to do it some justice. Thank you for joining me on and thank you for the very cool information. 🤠
Since you posted this video, I presume you made it home safely. 👍 Good times, thanks for sharing.
I'm glad you were able to join me on UA-cam. I did make it home. 😁I got rehydrated when I had breakfast at an excellent little dinner in Pine, AZ. I cut the trip short because my rear end was sore after 2 full days in the not so comfortable saddle. 🤠 I have since ordered a more comfortable saddle. Just waiting for it to come in. It was a great shake down for my first moto camping adventure. I'm looking forward to more and longer motorcycle adventures.
@@TheIronRide, sounds to me like Kawasaki jacked up the seat design; I had a 2006 KLR 650 & the seat was the one component that needed no replacement, providing all day comfort over multiple days of travel. The rest of the bike... meh. 😆
@wallacerobertsconsulting2894 I've owned all 3 Generations of the KLR great all around, reliable, bike for the price. Believe it or not the Gen 3 seat is possibly the more comfortable of the 3. To be fair most of my motorcycle experience has been on cruises. So basically easy chairs for saddles 🤣. I probably need to toughen up a little. 🤷🤠 I have a seat concepts saddle on the way. Should be a little closer to the recliners comfort I'm used to. 😁😂
Good times! I like the switch-up from Jeep to moto camping. As always, excellent videography & editing. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for your long-time support. The bike uses allot less gas ⛽️🤑😊. It was actually very relaxing, only having myself to worry about. Looks like there is going to be many more moto camping adventures to come. 🤠
Nice camera work and commentary
Thank you sir. I'm always trying to improve my camera work. It's an ongoing thing. I'm glad you chose to join me on the Adventure.
Pro tip, Steer with your ankles while standing up. you are steering to much with your hands. this is what makes your movements to slow. Wanna move left move you left ankle down an let the bike tilt. right ankle to go right and tilt the bike right. easy peasy. Like your attitude. Have fun.
I appreciate the tip. Believe it or not I understand the fundamentals 🤷 I'm just have a hard time applying them. 🤣 riding off-road is totally "wrong" compared to the on-road riding I've been used to for so long. But I will work on it. Thank you again. I'm happy to get any advice I can get. 🤠👍🏻
@@TheIronRide could it be your foot location on the pegs, if they cannot pivot it will make it difficult. Also was about to say: Cowboys can shake their hips while dancing so why not on the bike. Hahaha.
@wishmaster-productions could be. 🤣 actually I do have to adjust my rear brake lever so I can position my feet better. It's also just being new to off-roading a motorcycle. Steering with my feet is just not a normal action for me... yet
@@TheIronRide as long as you have fun doing it.
@@wishmaster-productions indeed. 🤠
looks like a fun adventure, thanks for sharing. as a phoenixian, been going up there for years, often taking one of a myriad of trail bikes over the years.. lately using a vstrom and doing the same..actually going up next week for 3 or 4 days, due to monsoon season, likely take the truck and a small bike.. gotta love 7000+ ft elevation..
The elevation is amazing isn't it? That may be one of my new favorite places. 🤠

I Think that you have shown us some beautiful country Jeremy. I have no idea arizona was so beautiful
It certainly is.
Hi Jeremy I really appreciate your video thank you for sharing ❤🎉
Thank you for watching.
Love your journeys, keep up the great work..
Thank you for joining us. I'm planning out the next adventure now.
What seat cover is that? Just got a 2022 KLR 650 Adventure last week.
I get that question allot. It's a sheepskin thrown over the Coleman maddog seat pad. I got both on Amazon. Woolino Sheepskin Underlay Rug, 100% Natural Australian Lambskin for Baby, Luxuriously Soft Merino Wool, Large, 4 Season use, Flax a.co/d/5iWlYmH Coleman MadDog GearComfort Ride Seat Protector a.co/d/hGOu5dh
@@TheIronRide Sweet thanks! The sheepskin, did you secure it somehow or is it literally just thrown on?
@LordDeadSpider I just tuck the edges up under the seat like a bed sheet. It's working pretty well so far.
@@TheIronRide All good, again, thanks.
Love your videos! I love to explore and would love to help. Live in Maricopa >
What kind of rig do you have?
@@TheIronRide I have a 2021 Gladiator Rubicon. 4 inch lift, 38 in nitto mt’s 5.13 gears. I have a RTT on a rack and decked system in bed. Still have things I want to do but can definitely camp and explore.
@Shawn King holy smokes. Your better equipped than I am. Very nice!
12:50 is the "Chicken Foot" junction. The cabin featured is referred to as the "Ranger's Cabin" it is searchable as such on google. I bagged a nice 3x4 nearby several years ago. Nice shots of the Sonoran Pronghorn at 16:00. Great vid, keep up the good work !
Thank you for joining us. I didn't know that particular junction had a name, but I can definitely see why it would be called chicken foot junction. The only info I could find about the ranger cabin and watering hole I got from azoffroad.net. I'm afraid my Google searches didn't reveal much 🤷. If you have links to any other info about it, I'd be excited to check it out. I had to use my 200mm lense to get the pronghorn. They ran right across the trail in front of the jeep and I was too slow to a closer shot 😅. Luckily they decided to keep an eye on us from a nearby hill 👍. I'm glad you enjoyed the video. I'm excited to get back out to it and find some more cool stuff. 🤠
5:34 Glad the "No Target Shooting" was adhered to. I guess the tank was not really a target, but rather, so much lead has let fly over the decades there that the tank just was all that showed the extent in 360 degrees of possible backstops.
It is unfortunate that most spots like that have some bullet holes. 🤷
Love your videos, hermano! Your cinematography, stories, & production are first rate. We traversed the AZP counterclockwise in the spring of 2021 with our UTVs, only skipping the southern section due to rain. We plan to return for that section, which you've been showing us with your latest videos. Looking forward to the next one!
Good to see you in the comments brother. Apparently the AZPT can be run in 7 days if you just run it. My exploring and filming slows me down considerably. But I have no regrets so far. Well, except missing the turn to the Gold King mansion in part 2 of this series. 🤣 but I have a plan to correct that. 🤔. I'm excited to get back on the trail and see what I can see. 🤠
