John Deere 1023e, 1025R - Adding a Fuel Shut-off Valve Plus Changing Fuel Filters
Here's how I added a fuel shut-off valve to make changing the in-line filter easier and less messy in the future. This works for the John Deere 1023e and also the 1025R.
I also sho how to change the fuel filter.

This is the first year I've used a wrapper to preserve my hay bales. Normally I let them sit out, but I lose the outer edge of the hay from weathering. I'm trying to have a better hay product for my cattle this year. I thought I'd go through my process in case you were considering it too. Just trying to be helpful in case anyone out there is looking for this kind of info. Let me know if you hav...

I just got a John Deere 450 E round baler and had a learning curve trying to figure it all out. I got the hang of it and wanted to share how I do it in hopes of helping out someone else. Let me know if you have any tips I should try! Check out my other video where I go over the baler in more detail: ua-cam.com/video/voGFENRcQI8/v-deo.html

I'll do another video with more details of hay raking, but this is a simple overview of the third part of the hay making process after cutting and tedding. Raking hay gets it into rows so that it can then be baled. Just trying to be helpful in case anyone out there is looking for this kind of info. Let me know if you have any tips or suggestions for me to try! I'm always learning and wanting to...

It would help with feeding the windrow more evenly if you would put two of your windrows together.

I’ve got a couple good hose pinch clamps and don’t have any problems but I’d still like to put in a shutoff valve ! I don’t know why there’s not one on the tank from the factory I use a Napa gold 3972 filter on mine it is a little bigger but it lasts a lot longer !

The fuel filter is just one example of why JD is laying off employees, they aren't the JD my grandfather loved. They need to hire real engineers not video game experts.

I grew up but have since left my family farm. We used a haybine instead of one of those. It looks like it might be easier to maintain those blades rather than all the small teeth on a haybine. Thanks for the reminder of my youth!

Bail looks lose. Is that as tight as it will bale? Far more waste with lose bales. I have a 535 John Deere baler that bales 5'x6' bales so tight you can hardly stick the hay spike in it. It takes 80 PTO HP to drive it. I would like to downsize to the Power Star 75 and smaller bales but don't want to give up tight bales.

Yep, 2 cut-off switches is the way to go. I didn't like how far away from the Shut-off switch he placed the filter. He is STILL going to get drenched. Not as much as b4, but still more than we should be losing if filter were closer to cut off. I bot a fuel transfer pump from Amazon for $80. minus a coupon. I am transferring diesel from the top (tank) prior to my installation this week-end

always abit funny and interesting to see how its done over there compared to here, im in Norway and ive baled all kinds of grass, hay and straw in the last 13y with fixed chamber combi baler units. my dad has been doing it as an contractor ever since balers where new to the market in the 90s. it has come a looong way both here in europe and in the states it seems but from my perspective it seems like it has slowed down the last decade or 2 over there compared to what im seeing here. also for clients and our own hay we put on everything from 12-14layers on teh bale. this to ensure its fully airtight and can withstand storage for up to 1,5y. Even after being handled a few times. the extra layers is also helping it surive small punctures from putting it on the ground and birds pecking on em. on our balers its 2 satelites that goes around the bale while the bale itself "rolls" and the satelites do from 24, 28 and 32 rotations. Ill be honest and say that idk how that will translate to number of rounds on a wrapper like that but if youre experiencing mold issues in your bale you can wrap more on em. Balewrap is expensive but its cheaper than the loss of forage quality anyway, atleast around here. if the hay youre wrapping is of good quality it would be a good idea to give it some extra rounds, 10 more would be good imo. also the bigger bale youre wrapping the more rounds you gotta put on to give it comparable amount of wrap as a smaller one

Hi. I just finished changing my 1025R in-line fuel filter. In prepping for the job, I bought two pinch clamps which were supposed to close off the fuel line. Ones I bought didn't work, and like you I wound up taking a diesel bath :) . Your instructions are spot on, and I'm going to buy a shut off valve and replace the JD cheapo clamps with screw-ons. Should be good to go after that. Me don't feel so stupid now. Great video. Kudos to you, my man. Liked and subscribed in anticipation of more cool lessons from y'all.

This is something everyone should do on any lawn tractor to facilitate ease of work on fuel filter ,fuel pump and carb.My only problem with thjis setup is that those plastic shut offs tend to leak,a good metal motor cycle shutoff cost about 8 bucks and wont leak (if you have the room for it)and work on the fuel sysrem becomes clean and enjoyable ,thanx for the vid

Your right with the bale sensor being half way, our 450E starts indication at around 33.5 diameter. I wouldn't know about twine, but on net we have ours set at 2.5 wraps, works good for us. We have the same beeps and we have a small kicker on ours, the NH 654 we had before has a ramp kicker working with springs. All good information your sharing, it's always good to get others opinion, helps you to see other ideas, whether it's the same as yours or not. Thanks for sharing, I like what your doing, keep it up.

I have a net wrap 450E John Deere Baler that works great for us. The 450E is not adjustable in size and the bale pressure is not adjustable. It looks like you have the plastic wrap about right on coverage to me, but I have never used silage wrapped hay, so that's just my opinion. I am new to your videos, so I am going to check out some of your content and I may subscribe later. You did a great job on explaining a lot of things, love your honesty. Thanks for sharing!

Farmer Scott, I also have a farm in WV. I currently live an work in NC. I was raised in southern WV but left in 84 to find work. I am up on the farm most every weekend doing stuff. I also bought a wrapper last year. We wrapped 45 bales of grass hay and 50 bales of oats. Cows like the silage hay a lot better than dry hay but the went crazy after the silage oats. Where are you located? My farm is Sandstone which is about 20 miles due east of Beckley.

I have a 1023 e as well with just over 300 hours. 7 months ago I replaced both filters as you just did. I just replaced them again, after just 7 months. I can see a difference from my 2016 model to yours that's obvious! The fuel tank has a metal collar where the cap screws in and a chain to the cap. Both are Rusted VERY badly. I have an appointment to take my tractor in for service. I'm going to pay for a Diagnostic at my Ag Pro dealer. My parking brake doesn't work well at all anymore. When I depress the Locking differential lever with my left heel, there's really no difference. The Rust in the Fuel Tank is blocking up these filters. The last one I took off was a dark brown. Completely loaded with Rust. I cut open the first one that I did last year. It was a mess. Unfortunately, I couldn't get my machine in for Service at the time.
