went to Hotel Grand Phenix in Okushiga-Kogen, Nagano to escape the heat in Tokyo! it's mainly a very popular skiing area 1500m high, but is also an amazing place for a summer retreat with plenty activities to do while staying cool (like hiking, fishing, biking) we tried out fly fishing for the first time and had a TON of fun. not to mention getting to eat lots of treats of course. made me think...

ended up in a quirky little town Nakano, known as a subculture hub but we saw much more! also: updated desk set up, eating amazing Tonkatsu at Suzushin, eating cake on stairs and slurping on my favorite oysters. ciao!! about me: my name is Hiro and I just moved back to Tokyo in January. I'm rediscovering the city as an adult now finding new things to do all the time (as long as I'm not too lazy)

visited the Shima hot springs town in Gunma prefecture, just about 2 hours away from Tokyo! we stayed at the famed Sekizenkan which is said to have inspired the bath house that appears in Hayao Miyazaki's Spirited Away. The hotel itself is so so historic, and it was one of the most unique stays I've experienced. Shima onsen town was not once it used to be - they have struggled to keep businesse...

it's been more than 10 years since I've lived in Japan... now I'm back and learning everything all over again... but I'm loving every minute!! Here are logs of myself rediscovering Tokyo as an adult. Maybe you'll find enjoyment in seeing life in Tokyo through my lens. They may be unpolished... but at least there'll be lots of good food ;)
