Building an Electric Upright Bass (EUB) - Part 2 - Body and Final Assembly
Переглядів 1232 місяці тому
We finish building an electric upright bass to use as a "practice stick" so we can stop lugging a real upright bass back and forth from school. This video covers the building of the body and putting everything together - plus a short sound demo at the end.
Building an Electric Upright Bass (EUB) - Part 1 - The Neck

We start building an electric upright bass to use as a "practice stick" so we can stop lugging a real upright bass back and forth from school. This was a tricky proposition since we didn't have anything to work off of as a template other than an actual acoustic upright bass. This video covers the building of the neck.
DIY Guitar Case for V-Style Guitar
Переглядів 1959 місяців тому
Guitar cases for a V-style guitar are expensive, so we decided to build one. We followed the basic plan from Chris at @HighlineGuitars (ua-cam.com/video/bcQeeIwA_E0/v-deo.html). In our commentary you get to hear us talk about the build, plot on how to overtake PRS as the third largest American guitar builder, and discuss whether we should expand our offerings to custom coffins. Music from #Uppb...

Marcus gives us a stealth "Factory Tour" of Mak'd WoodFab (where we crank out all these Mak guitars and basses) He references a few UA-cam channels we like, including: www.youtube.com/@UC5OAMxnvhTyc3rjgpY6u8cA www.youtube.com/@UClMRGR_QNw4Fm-3FGGyICdw
We built a bass out of CANDY and EPOXY

We wanted an eye-catching bass, so we made a V-style bass out of candy and epoxy. Featuring the spin-a-split mod for variable coil splitting in the pickup.
We built an offset guitar and a V-style guitar to see which was more comfortable for sitting
Переглядів 65Рік тому
We wanted to determine what type of guitar was more comfortable for sitting, an offset or a V-style guitar. So we made one of each. The V-style guitar features a maple body and mahogany neck with Vintage Vibe HS-90 pickups (Alnico V in the bridge, Alnico III in the neck) and Tone Ninja tuners. The offset guitar features a maple neck and Honduran mahogany body with Tone Hatch Shin Kicker pickups...
Unboxing a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass (from the kids' point of view)

I let my boys do the unboxing and initial reaction for a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass and get some entertaining reaction (maybe #broccolituners is going to be a new trend).
The Making of Mak (our new homemade offset bass guitar)
Переглядів 173Рік тому
We built a new offset bass guitar with an African mahogany body and maple neck. Plus a demo of Seymour Duncan 70/74 pickups (we think they sound great in this bass) and series/parallel wiring.

Unboxing and unsolicited review of a Firefly FF338 guitar
That is a great looking instrument! 😎👍
Nice job! The V looks awesome too. It's even better when you get the whole family involved.
I love the whole family commentary.
A pink guitar is a small price to pay for a new guitar you dont have to sneak in or hide. Just sayin, not that I would know anything about that. ;) Wow, the bridge sounds like instant Angus tone to my ears. I REALLY cant wait now! Come to me my precious, please Mr. UPS man be nice.
Steve McDonald of Redd Kross would love this!
I put a set of Epiphone Probuckers with the quick connect harness in mine with great success. I popped the covers off to make sure they weren't "waxbuckers" (they kinda were) and knocked the excess wax off and out with a hair dryer. Havent put the covers back on yet but if you get a set post 2013 they'll be good nickel steel covers so they won't dull the tone like brass. Affordable also, I wouldnt pay more than $80 shipped from a US seller. Some solid body players think Probuckers are dark and a bit muddy in the neck but in the mostly maple 338 they're great. I've dropped the neck and raised to pole pieces to escape boominess. A set of Epi Alnico Classic Pros with alnico 2 magnets swapped in are set to debut, they should be close to Gibby 57 Classics.
Congrats on the beautiful guitar guys! Thank you!
Honey Lemon for the win! Wire a push/pull or push/push for neck-on in Pos1 and Pos2, 1 you get bridge and neck, 2 you get all 3, like the Strat Gilmour mod switch. If you use a 2 pole 5 pos switch, which is 1/2 a "super switch", you can wire it so neck-on works in only Pos1 so it's a bit of a preset. 3 knobs you can wire it like a Nashville, 3 position switch with a middle pickup blend on the center knob. Keep the 5 position switch and wire a 1/4 or 1/2 blend 3rd knob for the neck pickup.
Great video. Thanks for the review guys!
The distortion magnet cover has to be removed ant the magnets siliconed,..and such . Then, it sounds right ...
Good feedback. Thanks!
I just bought this guitar . The 338 . It's crisp ! 😁👍🏻
Great playing. That is so awesome that your children are involved and I must say they are very well minded and mature also. It was refreshing to see. I have a few firefly guitars. I love them. The head stock and the cutaway on this model is identical to many 70's Ibanez guitars. Coincidence I'm not sure.
It's very pink!!! 😄 Kid is like dad this is your guitar... get me the double cut SG🤣
Their SG now days is incredible!
Cool .. I love the inclusion of the young man Awesome kid congraz, But you lost me with the "A good platform to modify" Did you modify your Paul or that V in the background? Peace Out .. And know, You, your & the kid, work, time are are appreciated.
The Paul we definitely did not modify. We built the V from scratch so you could say that one is all modifications!
☀️ Promo SM
Great sounding and looking bass!
Nice sounding bass!
It’s cool that you and your son are sharing the spotlight. Careful not to spread the tone seeking fever too young!
Is it for your son or for you ?
For the family! (plus an excuse to get my hands on a semi-hollow)
