The Flying Sikh- Joginder Singh Bhachu, Kenya's Safari Rally Champion
Переглядів 13 тис.5 років тому
Sardar Joginder Singh Bhachu (9 February 1932 - 20 October 2013) was a successful endurance rally driver in the 1960s and 1970s. Popularly known as "The Flying Sikh", He won the Safari Rally three times, in 1965 driving a Volvo PV544 with his brother Jaswant as co-driver, and in 1974 and 1976 driving a Mitsubishi Colt Lancer 1600 GSR he first Sikh driver ever to win an international rally, and ...
Great storyline, graphics and narrative. The music is however irritatingly crappy!
I remember this amazing event when Mr Joginder Singh's Safari Rally team had graced Kampala Road during one of the East African Safari Rallies around the late 60s and beginning of the 70s. Even then everyone knew what a special and genius of a driver he was -- one that was fearless and who made it look effortless on a dangerous and trecherous terrain too ( makes the F1 look like an easy ride). These rallies were very special and a pride for all Asians (united in culture and respect for all religions) - a pride for all Africans - brown, black and white. How sad that those kinds of moments of warmth, togetherness and frienship among people are non-existent in our world today but I feel very privileged to have been party to those yester years memories and a handful of rare experiences, as a child growing up in Uganda before the horror of Idi Amin's 'regime'. RIP Simba wa Kenya.
Great video very informative
One word, passion.
Rip Simba
Fantastic choice of music might I add. Put the lime in the coconut...and you'll feel better.
Used by pure chance! Thanks for the comment
This was a very well done video! Would be a very cool biopic
Agreed. Word on the grapevine is a famous film director has been considering a script! Fingers crossed.
What's with this terrible music?
I had to mute it too.
Because he was African, the rally is in Africa, and that's African music.
You really dont understand Africa do you? dumbass
That was very interesting! My father (born and raised in Nairobi) drew a picture of Joginder's Volvo in 1967, after watching this I know Joginder was an inspiration to him and the reason he became a race car driver when he moved to Canada.
Thank you for sharing!
Legend. Cool Video
Thank you
Absolutely fabulous career and inspiration to a lot of Rally enthusiast in India like me.
