1955 Cadillac Fleetwood | The Engine is Free!
After soaking everything down in oil, we decided to put a breaker bar on the crank and giving the 331 a spin... and spin it did! This gives us hope that after 32 years this old Cadillac will run again.

1955 Cadillac Fleetwood | First Wash in 32 Years
Переглядів 1,2 тис.2 роки тому
We brought home an all-original 1955 Cadillac Fleetwood Sixty Special that hasn't been on the road since 1989. The car was stuffed away in a one-car garage for several years, and then a storage building... only to see the light of day in February of 2022. Before we start working on it, we need to wash off the decades of dirt and grime so we could see what condition the paint and chrome are in. ...
1987 Toyota VG40 Century Walkaround
Переглядів 3273 роки тому
My wife and I checked out a super clean 33,000-mile Toyota VG40 Century today at St. Charles Toyota. These gorgeous executive sedans were never sold outside of Japan. What a fine example of Toyota excellence. Sadly, I am slightly too tall and way too fat to fit in one, but anyone else who is average size should consider picking one of these JDM masterpieces up in the coming years.

Volvo 144 - Removing Side Markers
Переглядів 1876 років тому
Don't like the side markers on U.S.-spec Volvo 140 models? Neither do I, so I pulled them off of my '69 144S. As it turns out, they are simple reflectors held on with two screws and backed by a giant rubber gasket. They will be easy to fill if you'd like to do some simple bodywork and move on with your life.

Just a little test of the old Show Car Glaze on a test panel before we bring our Volvo's paint back to life. Use only as directed and whatnot.

A quick startup and walk around video of our latest acquisition. Its a 1969 Volvo 144s with 140,000 original miles equipped with the B20 motor and BW35 automatic. This is a one-owner car with every piece of paperwork since new. It will need some TLC but we are excited to put this milestone Swedish sedan back on the road.

A quick video of our 55 Savoy. We call her Minerva, and she's finished in Tampa Turquoise and powered by a 230 flathead Powerflow six and a 3 speed manual transmission. The car sports 56k original miles and loves the open road.
1937 Dodge Fire Truck Walk-Around

A brief walk-around video of the City of Lewistown, Illinois' Engine #1, filmed during the 2017 Spoon River Drive. Delivered new from Boyer Fire Apparatus, the truck is an untouched survivor with only small changes for drivability like sealed beam headlamps. The Dodge runs extremely well with 7,400 miles on its original drivetrain. The city of Lewistown is actively soliciting donations for its ...

1934 Pierce Arrow 1240A Convertible Coupe Idling & Walkaround
I has one an it off was reel reel fast on it.
Check and adjust your throttle lingage it's under neat your manifold...
Check if you are getting enough gas to the carburetor you might just need a brand new fuel line from the tank to the the fuel pump
Ethanol is the enemy.
You should first turn all the key, than try to startup
I'm sure you got everything working 1st time seeing your video nice truck to me it sounded like it had a vacuum leak Nice truck sir
Sounds like a clogged low speed jet in the carb…. Did he ever find out what it was?
It was exactly that.
RED BRAKE LIGHT IT´S ON....
Good eye. Fixed it.
My dad had a 1955 Plymouth Plaza, probably the bottom of the line for that model. He drove it until 1965. Not a bad car, we made lots of trips in that car without many issues.
Check the vacuum

Thanks for the video Bro.. i just picked up a 1947 Chevy fleetmaster.. Yours sounds Nice..
Sure thing, congrats on your new Chevy. They are a lot of fun!
You must use Stabil marine gas treatment! You now have crystals in the low speed idle jet and in the bowl.
That was realy neat I love that house I've just ordered a nutonr intercome the am fm version I can't wait to hook up
I had a '56 Belvedere, loved it! Sold when I went into the military. Same dash as this one.
Question, was it overheating when you had this issue?
Hi Carlos, no the coolant was normal operating temp
@@Throwinwrenches Thanks!!! mine is doing the same thing and just trying to diagnose. In addition its over heating so thought it may have been related. did you do it yourself? any tips?
@@carlosgranados2274 hi Carlos- yes. The best thing to do is buy a rebuild kit from Mike's Carburetor Parts and follow the steps in his kit. Get a clean workspace and it's an easy rebuild. Good luck with yours.
@@carlosgranados2274 if you’re having overheating in addition I’d check timing
@@michaelmosqueda2811 thanks! I had the same issue as above. After it started running better I busted an intake gasket. I kept adjusting timing to compensate but later turned out to be lost compression. Its currently at the shop getting rebuilt. so yes, in the end, timing was compensating what was going bad and running hot.
Might want to check your distributor bushings see if there’s play in distributor ship from side to side that’ll mess up your Dwell
Yea hey, what kinda gas you using ...i assume you know they need "lead"!😎
I have one ...i let my neighbor change plugs, oil etc. while i was at work ...now it has trouble with the idle ( ...it didn't before! ..WTH?)
You got it carb
Both look awesome,👌👌👌👌👌👍👍👍👍👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Ethanol free gas? Do you use lead additive?
I do now.
If anyone is looking for a Dodge fire truck I have a 1935 Dodge with a Boyer's pump the body is in primer the frame and miscellaneous parts are painted black and red
Thanks for the heads up Eddie
Hii
What is the function of the two things behind the handbrake?
Hi Spiros. Next to the handbrake is a lever to recline the seat.
That car looks amazing parked by another classic and the factory color👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you, Enrique. We love original old cars in our place.
I would call them classics, cars like those you do not see today👍👍👍👍👌👌👌👌
You see new computerized cars, not the cars that you can work on, change points ,condenser, the cars now have a bunch of sensors, for this, for that, plus the newer cars are more expensive💲💲💲💲💲
Shes looking awesome... and i mean the Volvo
Some people that appear to have no mechanical aptitude whatsoever should not own something so nice there is nothing simpler than a 216 Chevy my advice is sell the car to someone that appreciates and understands the most basic mechanical devices
How does 1 learn the basics unless you get in there and learn by trial and error? Instead of throwing salt on the man share some of your expertise on the very basic mechanical devices that you know so much about ....or do you?
Thanks for your input, Tony. I still have the car and it runs like a top today. I learned how to rebuild the carb and it turned out to be a low speed jet. Your comments offer nothing useful. Feel free to start your own channel with all of your priceless advice. I'll be sure to subscribe.
Damn tony jealous you cant have a nice car? What a d!ck.
This vehicle is the biggest piece of shit. everything about it screams planned obsolescence. The valve stems break, the aluminum on every bracket on the engine is as soft as butter and the block itself looks like someone spray painted a block of styrofoam. The real solution to fixing these is to go buy ten gallons of gasoline, douse it, toss the match, and let it burn.
Danm,i have a 144 but ur lucky to have a front bumper for it😂
Clean the carb
Thats exactly what I did. Low.speed.jet was clogged. Good as new today.
Daryl Scott awesome brother glad to hear , easy carb to work on , Done it a few times now and I can literally have it off in two minutes, and then clean it in another five and have it all back on in 15 minutes LOL
That engine purrs like a sewing machine Daryl. How's that BBS treating you lately?
Not too bad, actually. Haven't had to touch it in a few years. I did find a New Old Stock Carter BBS and tucked it away in case I ever need it. But so far, so good 👍
Damn. Did leaving it on overnight improve overall clarity?
Hello Tanji, yes it did but it was very hard to remove. I'd recommend following the instructions on the bottle instead 😀
@@Throwinwrenches Yeah I thought leaving it overnight was a bit excessive. I will probably leave it on for 2-3 hours and see how it goes. Your video definitely made me want to give it a try. My car's paint is oxidized but it definitely looks curable because you can see the reflections from certain angles, just not directly.
@@TaijiArban good luck and let us know how it turns out
Cool, i was brought home from the hospital after i was born in my Dad’s 55 Savoy. He had it until ‘65. Still remember it
They were so popular back then
Not sure why you keep showing your face. Just focus on the job
My mom says I'm handsome.
Choke stuck.
My Jeep Patriot 2009 has about 80K miles on it. I read on the web forums the intake manifold could be leaky and produce the ETC light. Did you have this light? I have ETC and MIL comes on, although no DTC errors are reflected on the OBDII scanner. I replaced all 4 spark plugs, tested all coil packs, checked for any cracks on MAP, tested fuel injector to see if fuel filter was clogged, replaced electronic throttle body and checked for any loose wires. The vehicle worked perfectly on a cool night; took it for 30min drive, ran it up to about 4500rpms and had 0 problems, although the next morning found it in LIMP mode again with same dashboard lights. I thought maybe it was my scanner, took it to 2 other shops, they had same problem with no error codes populating. I have searched the web for hours, any advice would be great. Thanks for sharing.
Hi Charles, thanks for the comment. I'm sorry you're having similar issues. I did not have the ETC light or any other codes other than the IMRC code. I hope you're able to get what you need.
Seafoam . Run it for a few days and see if it gets better . If not don't run ethanol blended gas . I run the midgrade or top grade gas . Also is more stable over time . Use compressed air after all else Fales to clean out the carb passages .
I am alway pleased to see another bolster with problems. Reminds me I’m not alone with all my 216 problems. ua-cam.com/video/un6UB4MwssA/v-deo.html
Underrated cars, 55's and 56's don't see any at all
Thanks much. I hear that a lot at local shows. A lot of folks had one or drove/ saw these back in the day. Sad not many have survived.
@@Throwinwrenches There are absolutely none in my area (Long Island, NY). Not many of them lasted much past the mid 1960s since they either wore out or rusted out or both. Plymouth sold a lot of these cars, though not as many as its competitors Ford and Chevrolet.
Jumped time! Replace the timing chain ! Try turning the distributor way around first right then left to it smoothes out! Any money that it jumped a cog, these old 216 we're notoriius that way!
Why do you engage mouth before brain. Gears don't jump time.
These two clowns haven’t got a clue about such a beautiful car. The driver is an idiot with pathetic moments. They can’t understand never mind appreciate such craftsmanship on a classic car.
Clowns? I don't even know how to juggle. I'll bet you're a riot at parties. Thanks for your comment.
Did you use a vacuum shift eliminator kit? I noticed I did not see a canister?
Hi Armando. Yes, the car was previously equipped with an Atlas vacuum shift eliminator kit. The replacement arm was worn, and I swapped in a different one from another used transmission with the same part.
Thank you for responding. The reason I ask is I wanted to have my 48 Fleetmaster 3 speed tranny rebuild because I am having a lot of trouble shifting gears. I have to put a lot of force in to the column to get it to go to the next gear. I slid under the ride to see if I could turn it by hand and I had to put some real force to get it to go to the next gear. I talked to a few guys and because I don’t have the old canister they told me I should buy the gear shift kit before rebult the tranny. There is not a lot of information about that online and your helpful video came up. I am thinking about removing the tranny, however it looks a little complicated. Any advice you can give me would be appreciated. Thank you.
Armando, did you eliminate your canister? I JUST finished rebuilding my motor & tranny on my 47 Fleetline, I can shift 1&2nd. But no reverse. :(
The same problem I am having I've already replaced 3 of the collars that hold the stem for because they cracked in half! Cheap aluminum crap
What ignition system do you have on this, original points system? I have a 55 savoy 6 cyl
Hello Will. Good to hear from a fellow '55 owner. Yes, ours has the original points system. It retained the original coil until a few years ago when it was replaced with a newer one, but she is still 6 volt positive ground.
Is that a 47?
Hi Franklin. Yes, it is a '47 Fleetline Sportmaster.
Beautiful car! I have the same one, mine is not as nice but very original also. I have a lot of original spare parts if you are needing something let me know
Thank you for the kind words and offer Hustiene!
Perhaps It's suffering from a case of the E.W's. Ethynol Withdrawls. See Unknown Hinson's link. He'll explain... ua-cam.com/video/MW7gslscejY/v-deo.html 11219
That's one sweet '55! I had a '55 Belvedere, 8 cyl. straight drive, and a couple of older Suburbans with the 6 cyl. Yours sure sounds sweet and looks good!
Fordtruxdad- thanks for sharing your story about your old Plymouths. They sure have a lot of fond memories for many people. Would like to have one with the Hy-Fire V8, I'll bet they make highway driving a little more pleasant. Have a great day!
I love this car and I have one but 1973 But I note at time 4:05 that the fuel filter installed in reverse it should be installed properly. Thank you.
Thank you Samer. I have since replaced it and installed it correctly. Thanks for the advice. 😀
