Reavers of Midgard-The Card Game
Переглядів 993 місяці тому
Reavers of Midgard-The Card Game is a competitive game for 2-6 players designed by Aaron Holland and published by Grey Fox Games. The game plays in around 30-45 minutes depending on your player count. Although I did not specifically talk about the 2 player game in my review, it does involve a variant. My review does mention that I think the best player count is 4-5. My copy of the game was gene...

Is this the same as the board game meeples KombatZ??😅
Great list, we won't have any crossovers! 😅
I’m not surprised- looking forward to seeing yours
I actually sold my copy of Dune after playing Robin Hood, because I figured I would always rather just play RH and it takes less space. How do you feel about the overlap between the two?
I have a lot of 2 player war games. So, as far as overlap they are different enough in significant ways that I’m personally not worried about it. However, if space or wanting not wanting too many games in that category is a consideration I would go with what makes you happy and what you think you will play more often.
Interesting list. Some surprises I think. I need to learn Gest of Robin Hood to finally get a COIN game under my belt, and I hear it is a good jumping on point. War for Arrakis looks intriguing as well. My top 10 of 2024: 10. Odin 9. Things in Rings 8. Xylotar 7. Skyrise 6. Harmonies 5. Lord of the Rings: Duel for Middle Earth 4. Spring Cleaning 3. Let’s Go! To Japan 2. Rebel Princess Deluxe 1. ARCS
Awesome list- we need to find time to record soon! It would be great to have a discussion
@BoardAgainGames Yep, ready when you are!
I gave my wife Forest Shuffle for her birthday last month. Haven't stopped playing it since ❤
That’s a great game! It was on my Top 10 for 2023- enjoy!
Nice list! I thought 2024 was another great year. I need to get Dune on the table at some point...I see why this would be your #1
Maybe AdamCon? We need to play some more games :)
The Arcs campaign was excellent, and I would absolutely play my friend's copy again. I personally only need to own the base game probably. Most GMT games (especially in the past) have not been appealing to me, but this Robin Hood one looks worth trying.
GMT games aren’t for everyone. Thanks for sharing your thoughts- hope you enjoy Gest!
Best 2024 list I’ve seen! Love that you opened up each selection 👍🏼 You included some games I’ve been interested in, some I’ve experienced and totally agree with and a few I had not heard of! #1 Tales if the Arthurian Knights #2 Mille Fiori #3 ARCS #4 FLIP 7
I like your top 4- not always as much of a story game type of person personally though. We should play Arcs sometime!
Nice list & love the LA hat 👍 Merry Christmas 🎄 and Happy New Year 🎉
Thanks! Merry Christmas to you too. Short story, used to live in LA and went to Dodgers games with my good friend.
Timestamps!!!
I watched this after reading the instructions because it still didnt make sense.... like you basically always lose if you get a high card in your hand? Its very confusing. Maybe im just still not understanding.
The game is very high on the luck side of the things, if you get a high card hand it can be difficult to do well.
Wow, what a fantastic rundown of this title. Underrated gem of a review!
Glad you liked it!
From the UK. Cant find this game anywhere! Does anyone know how i can get a copy?
Catastrophe Games has it for North America.
@@BoardAgainGamesSadly they wont sell or ship it to the UK. Let me know if you have any other ideas, thanks.
Yep. The claws turned to paws.
Hi! Great video btw. I have 3 questions. All related to battling and Confrontations: 1. What happens when, after resolving all considerations (assists, energon abilities), I am unable to meet the Power requirement? Meaning that my bot loses the fight against the adversary (especially in case of Boss). Do I take damage cards? 2. What happens when I reveal a card in my space and it turns out a boss card? Firstly , its evidently clear that I resolve an Ambush. But what imediately after that, can I Confront it? If so, do I need to redraw another confrontation card or otherwise?? 3. How many cards a player can play to assist? Is it limited to 1? What about that cards (being used for assist) has some imediate effect? Will that be applied? thank you!
thank you. once you turned the circle-like piece at the top of 2 showing it insets slightly to 5, it all came together for me.
That was the tricky part.
LOVE this! Thank you for sharing the knowledge. I'm new and this really helps.
You are welcome, glad I could help!
Howdy from the Nati! Hope you’re having fun!
Having some fun too, stayed up way too late playing a game last night!
Sounds like a blast. Maybe in the future a video comparing Essen and some conventions in the US would be interesting? Also if you find yourself near the Jelly Jelly booth and a copy of Minecart Town finds its way into your bag, I would gladly reimburse you. 😉 In any case, enjoy the rest of your trip!
That’s a great idea on comparisons- will try to head that way. My days have been pretty full though.
Cube Express looks great! Have a great time!
Thanks man, let’s play soon!
So, during my turn, if I take a card and realize that I have 8 cards in my hand, can I discard one card during my turn, or do discards only happen when another player realizes that I have more than 7 cards?
I apologize - I didn’t see this comment and I have been traveling. I believe it’s a limit of 7 cards in hand, not a realization thing, so you must discard
Thanks for the review! Glad you liked it.
My pleasure and good luck!
Interesting!
So, three resources of different colours are just to pick one card from the discard pile? They do not build a shelter?
Correct.
Thanks for the clear explanation! I ordered this for my family so I plan on using this video to teach them cause I'm notoriously bad with explaining rules. Also, my favorite dinosaur is the T-Rex cause I'm a 90s Jurassic Park kid 😅
Nice, sorry for the slow response!
That setup 👀
Yeah, that’s why I showed it
Very cool video. The twin peaks background music is too loud though. It’s feels about as loud as your voice.
Noted!
Keep doing what you’re doing! I just found your channel and am excited to check it out
Thank you so much!
That mic is very white
This is true!
Thank you! These instructions were terrible. I had to download them, not sure if they were different from the printed ones, but the part numbers in Steps 2 and 3 are all jumbled, plus several times how they fit together was super confusing including this step.
Glad the video helped!
website still has em jumbled as of today. and yeah, I would have them make a new angle for 2+5 and put arrows or a highlighted contact point on the flat support girders that align
I believe he and his brother Rodney used to box when they were young.
That's awesome. Lamont has many talents
Cool🎉 great job
Thanks!
Loved the video. You did an amazing job!
Thanks!! Best of luck with the game :)
Such a weird concept. I love it!
At first I thought it wouldn’t work, but it made sense for this game.
Wow!! What an interview!! Love to see the trick-taking love grow!!
Just checked out your channel too, thanks for watching!
This was a wonderful interview. and I am excited to read this book. I discovered bid whist from mobile bid whist apps on my phone and like how much easier the bidding is to teach than bridge. You are a great public speaker and I look forward to hearing more from you about how cards/games mesh with life. Christopher, thank you for your great questions.
Thanks for your comments and thanks for watching!
The guest knows what needs to be said, and says it. Acknowledging the simply mathematical reality that women are half the population and that the gaming industry could take them seriously is something he addressed tactfully. And, holy crap! He said he *made a game while he was homeless* !!! If that's not some inspirational motivation, I don't know what is. Whatever *reasons* I have for not having published the things I want to make, seem so *small* now. If he can publish a game while surfing friends' couches, I should have no trouble publishing a game from the comfort of my 1350/month apartment- nearly all of my excuses are trash.
Thanks for watching- hopefully Seppy helped inspire you to create :)
Timestamps if you want the channel to go somewhere. GL
Thanks!
Just got the game, looks great and the art is beautiful
We really enjoy it
Thanks so much for having me on
The pleasure was all mine!
I'm glad to hear you enjoyed Dawn of Ulos! I'm pretty proud of how it's come together.
Yeah, it's a lot of fun :)
Thank you!!
Of course, great game!
We're so glad to hear you enjoyed Dawn of Ulos!
Thanks for checking out the video!
The video is titled "what is a roll and write". Which is the question I had that made me click on this video. But this question is not answered...you go straight into the history of these games, listing the titles of games and showing the boxes. I'm 7 minutes in and I still don't know what a roll and write is.
It’s a game where you roll dice and write, they come in many different forms and have influenced other game styles. It’s sort of like the question- “what is a chair?” I can point at one, but can’t give a full definition.
Awesome list, Chris! Cant wait to try some of the games on this list. Fit to print is so cute, would love to try it.
Thanks! Hope you get a chance to soon!
Awesome top 10! I'm really interested in White Castle and Darwin's Journy.
Your 3d turn is wrong. You can only number a greenhouse after having activated an airlock that gives access to it
Thanks for catching that!
Only a couple of crossovers between your list and mine, looks like I have some homework to do! I really liked Tiger & Dragon, and Forest Shuffle is fantastic. I just picked up The White Castle and I'm looking forward to getting it to the table.
It was another great year for games. There were some tough choices this year.
I was surprised you didn’t talk about white castle solo being super hard!
It definitely can be, I like the solo but I prefer it at 2-3
Wow! I've only played one game on your list! That game MAY show up on ONE of our 2023 lists! Whenever we get to it.... Anyway, great hearing your picks!
Wow, not completely surprising though. Really great year for games :)
