Deer Antler Bushcraft Knife
Last summer I found a deer antler on holiday and decided to use it as knife handle. This was a really fun project do and I learned some new things on the way. Deer antler is a wonderful material to work with and I guess I will use it more in future projects, for it gives a really nice look and fits the outdoors theme of a bushcraft knife.
Have fun watching this video!

Переглядів 175Рік тому
My love for knifemaking came after my love for the outdoors. Since I started hiking and bushcrafting, I always carry a knife with me. And so it didn't take long until I started crafting my fist own knife. Because I love the outdoors and the bushcraft life so much, I wanted to make a outdoors-bushcraft video to inspire others to get outside! In this video: hammock camping, fire lighting, coockin...

Can you share the printable file ?:)
I would give you a like, but I don't like it, if someone wastes materials
@@sebastian-ic1mz what do you mean with waste?
Отлично! Без болтовни и по делу.
@@ruseltutejshij8532 thanks!
but what kind of steel is it?? lol
@@LetFreedomSPK I don't know exactly, I always use high carbon steel circular sawblades for my knives
Awesome work! I liked your process and shape of your knife is excellent!
@@vroshabhisam5582 thank you!!
Круто!
Very cool!
What size thickness blade did you use to make the knife?
Nice job.
How do i buy one?
That was some unconventional knifemaking and I was glued to the screen because of it. I like the process and the outcome!
@@Bearrascus thanks man! You warm my heart!
Bellissimo.
Very nice 👍🏻 what is it you used to engrave your logo ?
I use my snapmaker 3 in1 to engrave my handles
very nice job - but the pocket clip is just a little too much - i like it better without the pocket clip - but hey great job 10/10
The knife could have used a kick at the sharpening choil to keep the blade from touching the back spring dulling the cutting edge.
When folded, the blade is stoped by a pin inside, preventing it to touch the inside
What are the measurments? Can you please tell me
@@KEVIN11678 I drew this knife by hand and sold it a while ago, but I sold it to a friend so I can ask if I could take the measurements for you
Superb knife and excellent editing. You earned my sub.
@@ClintsHobbiesDIY thank's man!!
I would be interested in learning your quench temp and your normalization temp in the oven. Thanks. Very well done video.
@@280AI thanks man! I don't know the temperature of the quenching, I just look at the colour of the steel. For the normalization I usaly leave the blade in the oven for 2 hours at 200°C
Awesome folding knife. Thank you Sir.
Very nice build and very well documented. Thanks.
Барашка на лезвии не хватает. Изза чего раскрывать двумя руками приходится.
Yes indeed! I'm working on a new folding knife design with a locking system and a thumb piece for easy one hand opening
Con esa impresora la vida es más fácil
Absolutely beautiful work and video. Please do one with Narration sometime and go into some more deatil Id very much like to see that too. Thanks you again.
Just insane
Ironically this is my exact process with my 3d printer

Hey mate, I was just wondering what material you use for your pins, and also what size are the holes and the diameter of the pins??
Hi! The pins I used are stainless steel, the small ones are 4mm and the bigger ones are 6mm
I will be making one like this too, this weekend. Cross fingers.
Cool! How did it work out?
Thats a handsome knife. Well done. I was hoping to see a bit more of a locking knife but i like this one just fine.
Thanks man!
Awesome work my friend 👍 im about to do my first folder and your video really helped. I think I'm probably going to try one like this. Thanks
Thanks man, that is realy nice to hear! That's the hole point of making these videos. I wish you the best of luck with your first folder, dont be surprised that some frustrations could be envolved in making these things, they can be a real pain in the ass, but its a great way of learning new things and in the end you gain a lot of fulfilment! Good luck and thanks again!
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
I think I be needing a new knife soon....
No template
real craftmanship
how do you harden these knives
I heat the blade until its red/orange and then I quench it in rapeseed oil for about 10 seconds. The rapid cooling of the steel makes it hard. Then I let it cool down to room temperature and at last I put it in the kitchen oven for 2 hours at 200°C. This tempering releases the stress in the steel and makes it less brittle and more springy
man this looks so much fun i wish i knew how to do all this and well i need a place to live and a house to do all this in first but other then that i think i got everything i need to build my own knife besides everything that you need lol i got pliers and some tools but i need a belt sander and well a shop and place to live first i guess lol so must be nice im sure daddy left you all this cool stuff to play with
You have to provide for yourself, and don't be envious.

Thank you very much!
What kind of metal pins did you use?
I used stainless steel pins of 4mm and 6mm and one tube of 6mm for the belt clip to fit in, wich is also made of stainless steel and the same 4mm pin
This is literally one the best looking folding knives I’ve ever seen. Does the knife use anything to snap closed? Like a magnet? Or is it just bearings?
Thanks a lot! The blade clicks in place folded and unfolded just by the spring and the shape of the part of the blade that slides against the spring. Because the hole where on the blade rotates is off center, more tension occurs and there by the blade is forced in one of the 2 positions. There is also a pin where the little notch in the blade fits into, preventing it from hitting the spring piece on the interior and harming the blade
Your video is always amazing 😄😄
