Big concern about muller take over of yew tree obviously is whether they repeat what they did 5 yrs ago and bin the Aberdeenshire producers when the pulled the plug on Aberdeen and left the farmers high and dry which yew tree then picked up after the farmers worked hard to make it happen. Lot of good people in the north east farming and hope they don’t get a repeat of what they endured back then.

A lot of premium brands of cheddar will be owned by dairy processors, so the processor will be getting more of a margin per kg, which will allow them to pay a greater milk price to farmers, especially when processors are co-ops. Therefore farmers do get a higher milk price the more premium cheese is bough over own brand because the processor will have a higher margin. Or have I got something wrong there?

Unfortunately, the price is too often related to that of carbon credit (e.g. 1tCO2e = 20$. As such, milk purchasers want to know how much carbon emissions are being reduced by the farmer. They will pay for the GHG reductions.

Fairness is an opinion

The farmers were the backbone of the Thatcher revolution. The majority still vote Tories ( not that Labour are much better). They then complain about price gouging by the multinational which can only be changed with political power. I support a fairer pricing for farmers and also in all other industries. You reap what you sow. Stop voting for your own downfall.

We are lucky, we have a dairy farm local that has a milk machine open 24/7, reusable glass bottles, £1.30 a litre. Tastes superb.

Easy way to make things better is keeping our dairy and food Irish not have imports from Europe or South America but keep local between Ireland Northern Ireland England Scotland and wales

Trying to make pralines and I think even the butter we buy is tainted. It takes much longer to cook it after adding a stick of supposedly pure butter. If anything else like a oil is taking it's place then it doesn't cook up right. I don't need a label to tell me that! It's all I can figure.

Why would I make that comparisson. For the cup of coffee you pay for the coffee shop, its staff, its equipment, its power, its insurance, the bean, the water, the milk, the disposable cup or reusable cup which must then bw cleaned. Make the argument about Supermarkets surpressing the wholesale price of your milk and you have my support for fairer deals.
