I dint disagree with the idea that there should be something to help besides sentinal when youre being lane dodged and fall behind because of it. But on the flip side if there was something like that it may incentivize that style of play because then you have a way of stopping your opponent when youre dodging them as well

I know its a "for fun" tourny and still a good watch, but I think it also shows the danger of too many bans, it can just devolve into some dull drawn out games and we shouldn't just baby rage at the last thing we lost against and demand a ban 😅

Something i noticed g1 of set 1. When the yoda dies i think justin accidentally put the perilous position in his discard pile not nathans so unless i didnt notice him return it which is possible, thered be an extra card in nathans and 1 shy of justin

38:17 What is the point of surprise striking with Zuck when op is at 1 damage and you are just going to face for 9? Seems like a waste. Surprise Strike is a good card for "sudden" damage getting lethal or going over the top of a defender/big unit you need to clear. Just throwing it away for damage seems odd that early in the game.

Yeah... my box had 2 pyrrhic assault. Maybe someday that card makes any sense being more than an uncommon. I want it to be cool with exploit but exploit, in general, has felt terrible. I've had a spot or two where I've used it to power out an 8 drop two turns early in limited and that was powerful. Generally though I've found exploiting to be too clunky. Droid Deployment on 2 into Troop Carrier on 3 is pretty great in limited but hardly game winning. The best use of exploit might just be something like T:2 Droid Deployment, T3: Droid deployment (or anything creating 1+ units), T4: Malevolence... is 7 power space unit that killer on T4? Probably, but you have to maintain the initiative and your opponent can't focus down your weak units for this to work. Both only really work once and are easy to count. If Dooku let you exploit non separatists then he would be busted. But also that's the only way it would be a strong effect for constructed. In limited, he's fine. Cheating out a troop carrier can get you enough value to win (mostly because removal was more crap in set 2)

Now There of Two of Them is a very interesting idea but high variance card. While you have redundancy you also have to throw away a card to jump ahead two turns. The 5 drops you want to play are decent, but not impossible to answer so you are sacrificing a card and a bit of tempo do accomplish something an exploit deck can pull off natively. The resource game in SWU is tricky. While card draw is bad and resource acceleration is incredibly powerful... the ability to cheat out a single card is less powerful when 3 mana bounce/removal exists. The reason stuff like U-wing is pretty powerful is because you could dump 2-3 units on the table which is harder to deal with. Yet the answer to both problem is sentinels. They don't even need to be good - anything that forces opponents to waste time. Ideally stuff with some power though.

I'm here for the Wrecker hate. What an obvious design mistake. The baseline stats are absurd with such a powerful play effect. Adding ECL on top of all this is a *problem* that needs addressed.

Honestly, I agree, F* Wrecker. ECL Wrecker is just plain stupid. It's like Maul (set 2 unit) and Takedown mixed together for 6 resources.

Love seeing this series. I'm one of those guys who played MTG since 1993 but always wanted other games to pick up. When I first saw Anachronism I was super excited and bought pretty much everything. I've played it with friends twice... ever. It's a great concept, gameplay is fast, and it's easy to learn. Perfect "waiting for people" game for board game nights. I know you guys play some of the others I was always interested in, but none of my friends were willing to jump in on. Specifically, Star Wars CCG (OG one) and Sim City. Sim City had some interest from my friends but we were literally kids with no money. It was MTG or Sim City and we all stuck with MTG. 31 years later we still play MTG in fits and spurts.... but I still have all of my SW CCG and Anachronism cards. At some point I might just buy up all the Sim City cards I can find since they are still pretty dang cheap.

I can atttest Twin Suns is a super fun and refreshing format. It allows you to see way more cards and the variance between games even with the same decks are vastly different.

I should have posted my Finn deck which won a local. It’s really got very little to do with Finn, but it did win something at least. Poor Finn, no respect.

It's obviously hilarious when Nathan gets so pissed off (I do too, so I'm not judging), but he hit on a good point the end. "Maybe I should have played Finn/Wrecker instead of trying to do anything cool." It's kind of a bad state that every hero/red player feels they have to play Wrecker or every villainy/green auto-includes OB. Makes the game kind of static and boring sometimes. Like they said, the decks are all just whatever-aspect-good-cards. It just kind of sucks that if you told me what aspect (not leader) you were playing, I could tell you four or five cards probably that you had in the deck. We don't seem to build around leaders or certain strategies, we just chose an aspect and put the 'good cards' in to win. Maybe I'm being too negative though.

I love watching people play and running through scenarios. Game 2 Nathan taking the initiative instead of attacking with fleet defender won him the game. Even though he didn't do an extra 3 damage (I probably would have) he took the initiative and took out kanaan before he could attack again. That damage would have been enough to take him out when he went to 27. Instead he stabilized with the reenforcement walker. Nice play Nathan.

Speaking about serialized cards. Idk the print numbers for the game so far but at 250 serialized cards per prestige and i think i read somewhere its 30 different cards that are prestige then 7500 serialized cards so should be plenty available. If its only in the 10s of tjousands of boxed printed then its solid odds to pull a serialized card then if it goes to hundreds of thousands which i doubt then itd be srill ok odds

I just picked up a bunch of product (each starter, and a box of each set) so I can learn the game and experiment before I try my hands at a few events. I've watched this series in reverse order and these videos, which are clearly focused around playing suboptimal decks, are quick helpful. I've played MTG on and off since revised and randomly I jump back into the game to spike an event just to prove I still have the juice. When looking at the cards I've opened my first thought was "wow, most of these cards don't seem very powerful or I don't understand this game". Watching this gameplay is really helping me reorganize my card evaluation criteria for the game. The plays aren't as splashy as magic and single creatures, usually, don't have the same amount of impact. MTG got pretty insane with creature power creep and even 1 mana threats are often "must answer". My biggest takeaways are: 1) card economy and card advantage matter less than MTG. 2) board control for turns 2-4 are extremely valuable. 3) most games center around ground units. 4) leaders are strong, but not less impactful than the forums want you to believe. 5) people under-utilize sentinel as a tool to break turn pacing. If anything, I think the player base is jumping on things as being 'super powerful' that are only marginally stronger than similar cards or effects. Wrecker does seem strong, but this game can boil down to meta gaming. The dual lane system will lend itself to metagaming a field for a long time. When power creep sets in and you have more cheap cards that impact both sides of the board (individually or simultaneously) there will be less opportunity for lane abuse. That all said... I've played zero competitive matches. I'll test and brew and learn for the next two weeks and I'll jump into a few local events to "hone" my skill. In February there are some of the premier events in my area and we'll see if any of my evaluation holds. Always been curious if any of my MTG experience would cross over. My biggest skillsets for MTG was limited and deck building. I'm very good at magic card evaluations, but this game is VERY different.

Indirect damage does not remove shields. Damage has to be prevented to remove the shield.

The unit that gives -5 (-4) and can't attack is the Malevolence and it gives that to only 1 unit, compared to Zillo.
