The summit of Peak 8 looms temptingly just above the highest lift chair in North America. High winds and blowing snow couldn't stop us from scrambling up to the summit and dropping in from atop the peak.

Fuego pyroclastic explosion Jan.16,2008
Great vid John. I visited Fuego, Pacaya, Lago Atitlan, and Santa Maria in May 2005. Hoping to catch up with you at COV12!
Of COURSE its a pyroclastic explosion...you can see the radiant heat driving the clouds back.
It is a pyroclastic explosion, not a flow.
technically the description is correct. "pyroclastic explosion" , pretty good shot too.
Yes, it is a pyroclastic explosion. The tephra in the explosion cloud is hot, thus a pyroclastic explosion. It did not produce a pyroclastic flow, but that is another beast all together. I'm doing my dissertation on Fuego and lived there for two years as well. I am quite familiar with Fuego, its explosions and related deposits.
Great video, but not a pyroclastic explosion. I've been to Fuego a few times and Ash emissions like that are pretty common.
Gaten in lava tunnel.
I think most people don't realise how unglamorous can be sometimes. Where were you camping for that? Loved the "There's Fuego..." and 2 seconds later it's gone again.
Nice video of volcan de fuego in Guatemala i been there but never seen it that active
Nice view
lol
Wonderful! I was there one year ago; so difficult to take photos and videos of volcanoes by night. We saw a wonderful explosion by night, light everywhere... but no photo... Congratulations!
The audible part of this video is incredible... Jeff showed this for a seminar a little while back at NMT. I think it stunned everyone in the room.
Wow that is awesome. that was like 1/2 a mile away!
Thats some beautiful explosions!
Nice close-up!
I think its a little windy!
Love volcanos, they are awesome!
As far as I know there is only one Fuego volcano and it is located in Guatemala.
Right, this is Volcan de Fuego, Guatemala.
its the guacamole volcano...errm i mean guatemala.....roflmao
Another great video. I should go back there as I've yet to climb Acatenango and Santiaguito, and I can also make better footage than before whereas the last time I was there I used my mobile phone which isn't a good thing to record footage with.
Since 2000, Pacaya's activity has always been mild which is probably why it attracts lots of visitors

Easy, you hire me to guide you there.
wow i was there like 3 years ago...and hella wanted to go really close..beatiful place.
