The Most Eerie Retro Game I've Ever Played | Last Seen Online Deep Dive You were always a snoop, weren’t you? That’s why you bought an old computer you saw lying among piles of junk at a garage sale. You didn’t even bother to format the computer before you turned it on. You were curious. The moon has Faded Away | Deep Dive This is my first video Essay type of video please let me know what I could improve on it would be much appreciated. The moon has Faded away is a game I found on Itch.io Developed by Blue Bird Games
Looks like a game that finally rival Animal Crossing with how tedious and boring it is (Just kidding, nothing can be more boring and time wasting than animal crossing)
commenting for the algorythm and maybe one day i will be able to spell that word!
Amazing video. Subscribed.
And just why should ANYONE care about a bunch of chattering, psychotic bald monkeys?
We are either the meaningless creations of an uncaring universe or the special creations of a loving god. Both ideas are terrifying.
Awesome video!!!!!!
realy good video. You got my attention
I kid you not, when I was a preteen and had an older version of minecraft, I found a ravine with a mineshaft in it that led to a cave wall with a 2x2 tunnel lined with redstone torches, which was one of the "signs" of Herobrine being in my world. It freaked me out so much.
I hope that in the future there will be twin content.
I guess i need to not be like chuck. I have to care more about people than just stories.
Azathoth here. I certainly care about humans. Tge others might not. But i do.
I definitely don't
I care about Azathoth's mom.
Care about them as in medium or rare?
Another "way of thinking" or philosophy opposite to the nihilism of cosmic horror is what I would call "Cosmic Wonder" or "Cosmic Significance". This would refer to stories where readers follow humans, mainly an individual or pair of individuals, who are exploring and taking significant actions in a universe that is filled with diverse life, ancient mysteries, ancient races, god like aliens, a few legitimate cosmic horror entities you don't want to come across and a few hints that the universe itself is somewhat alive and has a consciousness of it's own. Unlike in a cosmic horror stories the protagonists in a cosmic wonder story aren't random people that die or lose their minds at the end but established individuals that take center stage in different stories that may be seen as separate stories but at some point it becomes clear that they have been taking part in a larger and grander narrative. And while in cosmic horror stories humans are insignificant in the universe, their actions in a cosmic significance/wonder story actually have meaning and have an actual effect on the universe as a whole; sometimes it is hinted that they have being guided (not controlled) and protected by some superior force like unseen god like aliens or an actual will of the universe/ a legitimate god. Another factor would be that while cosmic horror works better through literature in order to let the reader's imagination fill the horrifying details, a cosmic wonder story would have to be through a medium with visuals that would fill the eyes with great art and sublime imagery. One good example of this type of story is the movie Cloud Atlas, wich is a great movie regardless of if what most people say. However the best example I know is the french comic Valerian and Laureline, a story which contains all the previously mentioned factors which after reading lead me to come up with this concept, highly recommend the read. Ironically I read the comic right after reading Alann Moore's Providence, the man's take on lovecraftian horror wich helped made the parallels between this types of stories hard to ignore.
I've definitely seen that type of genre (Cosmic Wander) in shows, and one of the things I talked about Supernatural actually seems to fit in with that description pretty well. Also thank you for the description and the suggestions I'll definitely look into them.
Good stuff you should consider doing longer format going deeper into each story .
I've been thinking about doing that, I just haven't thought of a good enough idea to warrant a like 30+ minute video on.
Excellent vid, glad I found your channel! And I especially appreciate how you take the time to point out very specifically that these cosmic horrors arent evil or malicious as we understand it - I feel like that point gets missed sometimes.
Awesome video bro!
Thank you!
Gonna be honest playing Old Minecraft like Beta and Alpha is basically playing a liminal psychological horror game your alone in this empty, timeless, lifeless world with no start or end goal your in a permanent transitional period. But you dont feel truly alone you feel like your being watched. The old fog help this feeling a lot. I thought that all those feelings of paranoia and those other creepy vibes where because i was a kid so i thought they would go away when i played Beta 1.7.3 a few months ago but no. I felt the same feelings after a day or two in game even the in game music felt creepy and off. I swear i would see a black figure watching and stalking me in my peripheral vision sometimes i would even see some white pixels in the darkness. I was always paranoid and scared playing on the world but i continued playing anyway. I had a decent house with a mine so i quit playing for a week. I logged back in and wanted more diamonds so i headed for my mine but about a third of the way down i found a 2x2 tunnel branching off of it. I did not build that 2x2 tunnel and it was long it went on for about 50 blocks. At this point i was pretty spooked but when i got down to diamond level i started strip mining but then i heard footsteps and blocks breaking and being placed somewhere nearby. After that i just quit the game for a while. I came back i exited the mine but while i was running up i heard footsteps behind me again but this was running player footsteps and i noticed a few more 2x2 and 1x2 tunnels branching off my mine that again i did not build and cannot explain how they got their. I got to my house locked myself in their and quit the world i have not played it since but i did not delete it. I may go back a see what caused those weird and paranormal happenings. But it seems im not the only one on other Minecraft forums players report having the same weird things happen to them.
To start, fantastic video! A lot of people truly miss the point of Cosmic Horror. You nailed it in all three examples. And I have to say I'm really pleased to see someone else use Supernatural as an example of Cosmic Horror. Despite its flaws, the series has always had a special place in my heart due to it's depictions of Angels and other entities as being these incomprehensible monsters. While the show does kind of lose some of its CH edge as it goes, the early seasons really nail it with many creatures being totally unexplained, thus adding layers to the fear they inspire. I look forward to seeing more from you.
Thank you so much, Yeah I totally agree, I haven't seen supernatural really be referenced when talking about Cosmic Horror. It's easily one of my favorite shows so I wanted to give it some spotlight in this genre. Thank you so much for watching!
I often thought about it, but it is hard to remember this anytime. But when I do everything we do seems irrelevant, and I just wanna do nothing. So either this, or you weirdly do all the things you didn't like to do, bc you know it doesn't matter.
Bro the Brocraft stream was found 2 months ago
this is the dryest horror genre to ever exist
Do you Minecraft as a horror game, or the getting stalked?
I love this video! With videos like this, you deserve millions of subs!
holy shit this is really well done!!!
Thank you so much!
9:10 copeland's livestream and the herobrine world are no longer lost archives as they were published again on youtube by someone
Oh I actually had no idea about that, I'm surprised I didn't see that. Thanks for letting me know
legendary algorithm pull
This was really well made I expected this channel to have more subs
before looking at the comments i swear to god i thought you had more than 3mi followers ATLEAST from how GOOD this is omL :0
Thank you so much, but sadly I do not.
You earned a sub!
Thank you!
You're going to places dude
I thought you had more subscribers! This was wonderful! The peak of herobrine is something you really just had to be there for. I was one of those foolish young kids who tried repeatedly to summon him. I miss it tbh.
Yeah I was too lol, I miss that era too.
bro you about to be famous the video is TOP
One can hope, thank you!
UA-cam with the great recommendations. Nice vid bro!
Glad they brought you!
Super underrated. I really hope to see this video blow up. Good luck, man. I hope to see you grow.
I really hope to see it too, thank you.
I still remember playing Minecraft and whenever I did something new like build a new house or craft a diamond sword, i would type in the chat thinking Maybe some entity is there, watching over me(Mainly Herobrine) and tell/show them what I did to impress them lol- 😅😂 The From the Fog mod really made my dream come true Amazing video btw 👍
how can a video be this underrated
how does this only have 77 views? the script is great!
Thank you so much!
For me the best horror is the one that never reveals itself and you are just waiting and waiting for it, but nothing happens. When i play old minecraft, it's enough for me to see a bizzare terrain generation (for example a cross carved in the earth) or a perfectly square cave, to feel the shivers! All those horror mods miss the point, it's about subtle things, not the loud jumpscares
I fully agree with you
AC music😂
i warn you about linking a much more interesting video so early on but i also appreciate it, i say this bc i nearly clicked off to check that video out lmao
😂 My bad
@@myrkr-drkno problem awesome video. love to see smaller creators in my recommended good luck homie 🫡
Here early before this blows up
And I’ll always remember you 🫡
this video had me have goosebumps the entire duration of it, great work
I appreciate that, that's what I was hoping to do lol
This a very neat video :D
Thank you!
I still remember playing Minecraft when I was younger and getting trapped in a cave. I didn’t know where to go or how to get out and I was scared shitless
I still kinda get that way now, I've been playing the beta version of the game recently.
W
Very good quality video. I'm glad the great emperor Al Gorithm brought me here.
I'm glad it did too, thank you so much!
this is a good deep dive! good job!!!
Thank you so much, I really appreciate that!
I think many people don’t understand that the real scare comes not from ugly entity that screams loud but from paranoia of something intelligent whose intentions are not clear
I strongly agree, I think mods fail to see that, a proper horror mod should fit in with Minecraft and not make it inherently obvious there's anything even different about your world.
@@myrkr-drk even if they make it obvious, maybe don't try to make into a shitty horror game which only way to scare you is jumpscares
@@myrkr-drk brb time to make ravenholm in minecraft /j
And the funny thing is that this entire craze started out from that - the original Cave Dweller mod, where the idea was giving the cave noises an origin, adding different other sounds, something watching you from a distance you can barely see - and often just running away from you. You get a sense of dread and paranoia of whatever that is and what it wants. Of course, it had that ugly entity that screams loud chasing after you aspect, but that was like less than 1/4 of the scare factor. Also the dweller wasn't unnecessarely overpowered, and just killed, you, not jumpscare you.
@@katamas832 I definetely agree, the cave dweller is one of the few good horror mods, another one I like that does a similar thing is into the fog, adding the original herobrine concept to your world.
Cool video! But your voice issues too calm
Are you meaning my tone? Like I talk too slow or monotone?
@@myrkr-drk i think whats missing in some parts is music. Not necessarily loud but something that makes it less feel like an audio record. Love the video though so this isnt really dead-critic xD
i like it the way it is
This is incredible! I’m the developer of The Moon Has Faded Away, writing from my other account. I’m genuinely impressed by the way you narrate and analyze The Moon Has Faded Away. Your deep voice adds a chilling touch that perfectly fits the tone of your storytelling. When The Moon Has Faded Away is complete, you’ll notice a considerable improvement in how the daily life of the family is portrayed, particularly the behavior of the mother, Alex, and Elena, and how everything slowly deteriorates. There will be a stronger emphasis on the disappearance of the moon, the growing desperation of the people, rising crime, and how some take advantage of the situation to start stealing (what happens in the final scene of the demo is an attempted robbery). The Moon Has Faded Away explores the fear of being alone, focusing on Alex’s psyche and how he gradually sinks into deep depression due to the situation and everything that happens around him. I’m confident that the final version will captivate you!
Hey! So glad you watched the video, thank you so much I appreciate it, your game was truly amazing, I cannot wait to play the full version of it, the part that interested me the most was the dive into the apocalyptic atmosphere, and everyone going crazy, I'm confident it will captivate me as well.
