Couple bonus tips for anyone reading, IF you are comfortable doing so, clean the heads on the vcr and also clean the actual tape film it self. You can clean the film while it’s running through the vcr with the lid off, there are videos on UA-cam to show you how. I did this and it made my 35 year old home movies go from grainy to crisp and clear. If the tapes you are transferring are home movies and you are afraid of messing them up, you could always just clean the vcr heads and capture the tapes first so that you have a copy of the tape already captured. Also, if you want a little boost in picture quality, find a vcr with S-Video output, and a capture interface with s-video input. The quality jump between Composite(Yellow/White/Red) and S-Video is definitely noticeable.

Cheap capture device = crap digital video. Better is DVD Recorder. It has inside hight quality video decorder

step 2, make sure it is a 4 head VCR and make sure you clean the heads of the tape player. Step 3, Don't buy a cheap capture device. Step 4, Use OBS studio, it's free.
