Gold Star 650 Scrambler
Переглядів 2,3 тис.21 день тому
I went in to Poulson creative customs in Heybridge (Maldon) Essex to have a look at there BSA gold star 650 custom scrambler. The staff were super friendly and allowed me to take the custom scrambler for a test ride . The weather was not the best but I still had loads of fun riding round some of the back roads in the Essex countryside while reviewing this bike . After the ride when back at the ...

Переглядів 197Місяць тому
In episode 2 of the project 1994 honda cb500 I'll be giving the front forks a complete over hall. Completely striping them down , getting the lower legs to look like new again and then rebuilding them with all new fork guides and seals .

1994 Honda cb 500 is 30 years old . When it was new Honda claimed it could do a standing 0-60 mph in about 4.3 seconds . So while out riding today I put the little 500cc twin to the test to see what it is capable of doing 30 years later .

Now that's better. Superb sounding machine
question- do you HAVE to replace the gasket? I cannot find any for my bike.
It's best advised to change the float bowl gasket , have a look on ebay as that is where I usually get them from. Old ones shrink , crack and dry up over time so may not seal correctly.
Does the engine breathe better ? No loss of couple ? Doesn't it make too much noise ?
From what I've noticed it runs better than it did before , but not too sure on any hp gain or loss ,would need a dyno for that . Noise wise it's not too bad , I've left the baffle in and it's not as quiet as a standard can but it is not that loud you can hear it down the road . Will do a db test of baffle in and out soon
@@F15hlermoto merci beaucoup ! I look at Delkevic a lot and it's nice to have responded so quickly, have a good evening !
Here in Belgium, the police are tough on noise and in Luxembourg it's even worse! You have to leave the bike there and pay a lot to get it back...
If they are that tough I recommend you get a full length end can and not a shorter or stubby one as they are usually louder .
Useful video, thank you.
Glad it was helpful!
Loved the vid. I had a k3 750. It died a death so bought a 2007 gsxr 600. Beautiful machine.
If you wire it directly to the battery, why did you turn the ignition on ?
Purely habit, years of ignition on 1st
Sounds great…fabulous price👍
This is not an upgrade its a cheat code !!
What ever you wish to call it it's a good bit of info
@F15hlermoto thank you it's gona be cheaper than an After market shock
When you swap exhaust do you have to retune carbs? Thinkin about swapping my m4 to a delkavic
If your just changing the end can you shouldn't have to but to get the best out of it or if you change the whole system it's best to have it set up on the dyno
@ awesome advice I’m just going with the end can not to many people where I live want to mess with carbs so I try to keep it simple
Che buon suono❤
The standard BSA is an excellent motorcycle and well worth 5k however you never really explained were that extra 3k was spent on the Scrambler. It certainly wasn't spent on mudguards 😅 and the suspension looks fairly budget. You went on to say, "compared to what get from the Japanese brands for less than 10k " Well, l could name you loads of Jap bikes under 10. The Honda Transalp 750cc is among many. I like BSA , infact l love BSA and with a proper government who'd be willing to lower tax on business in the UK, we could be building the bikes in the UK 🇬🇧. Bring British bikes back and Jobs back and put the Great back into Britain and Good luck Poulson and Custom Motorcycles. Great review 👏 l enjoyed it.
Perfect!

Nice one looks and sounds great 👍
Thanks , much better than the old exhaust system
Sounds like a miss fire. Replace the plugs
The bike had been sat for atleast 5 years , needs a bit more than new plugs 🤣
The bike looks OK but not that number plate nice video
Thats a "trade" plate!...😂😂😂
Beautiful and full of character. I really hope BSA have a good year, considering the competition from RE and MotoGB. I feel BSA have but the mark with the retro throw back but are a smaller brand than their counterparts. Great vid. 👍🏻
It sure is , lots of competition out there but hopefully bsa will do well and stick around . I'm looking forward to the b65 scrambler next year .
Definitely looks the business
Great video 👌😎
Thanks 👍
needs a high pipe
Personally I like it the way it is but I'm sure the team at poulson creative customs could do something about a high level exhaust if that is what you want.
amazing the mine is failing above 7rpm, do you have some regulation tutorial or other equal motorcycle guide? so thanks congratulations
Nice vid mate. But deffo not a fan of the bike itself. Not my cup of tea lol
Fair enough!
Any links to these mate?

Some jobs are just so satisfying. Great work!
Mint!
Good video very helpful. 👍
Thanks for the comment 👍
love your videos man been watching you since the start of the zx6r, hope to see more of it around, ever thought about installing a gear indicator on it?
Thanks mate 👍hopefully will be able to do some more zx6r videos in the future. Just trying to get on with a few other bikes atm as I'm not using the zx6r much this year ( it's not the most practical as a instructor bike ) but hopefully next year I'll be able to spend more time on it . A gear indicator is on my list of mods for the zx6r and your not the only person who's asked me about doing a video on fitting one so I'm sure I'll do a video when I do get one .
U make it look so easy tyler great video
Very informative, looking forward to episode 3 and in time the final outcome. Brilliant stuff, thank you.
how many miles does your zx6r have?
My j2 has now done just over 60,000 miles and still running smooth .
love your videos bro! i have the same bike too
Thanks man, I now have a 1990 model.
Good choice, make sure to join the zephyr 550 fb group
Where does the hose line at the beck of the gas tank go I disconnected it and forgot where it was connected to.
It's the fuel over flow pipe from the tank , it goes from the back of the tank down past the battery box and through a little hole in the under tray
Subscribed! After that calliper rebuild, nice!
Thanks , will be plenty more coming soon !
Honda CB-500🔥🔥🔥♥️
@3:12 shoes sponsored by KAWASAKI 😊
I can't lie , I did get them as they match my bikes 🤣
Good job mate. How does it feel now?
Feels a lot better, have not taken it for a proper test yet tho as I've go straight on with doing the forks .
Great job and vid M8.
Also have a CB500 from 1994, even the same colour. 😃👍 I love that bike with all my heart. 😍 Back in 1995, my wife and I, plus top case, side bags, sleeping bags and tent, made it from Portugal to Germany and back, 5.500km. No complaint from the bike, no problems, just rolling and rolling and rolling. Even the suspension is the same. 😃 Reliable as can be. 👍
I also have cb500 1994 200.000km!! Love it!! Never buying another bike until this one blows up which seems very unlikely 🤭🤣😅
i love this bike i got it for 500 euros and is so gentle and agile, i will keep for sure, wonderful bike
This cb500 is my partners but I'm enjoying that much I'm now tempted to go out and get one for myself
They are nice but weren't popular but make good BRAT bikes and cafe racers.
I can understand why they were not as popular with what else was on the market at the same time . They was a bit dated when they were new but over the years I do think it's aged well compared to similar bikes of that era .
Great vid mate. However were it me, id have the revs a lot higjer that that. The front should lift ever ao slightly to know u get the perfect launch... but that's just me and what.i think
Like I said definitely room for improvement, Flora hasn't ridden the bike yet so I'm trying not to thrash it before hand lol if you think you can do better rob your more than welcome to have a go 😉
The max torque of 47 nm is at 8k rpm and the max power is 58hp at 9.5k rpm and the bike will rev this high no problem . Is yours restricted or something?
Very useful video , quick question for you the carbon Air ducts where did you get them mate ? I can see them on ebay but from China if that's where you got yours how much was the customs duty ? Cheers
My carbon air ducts are the original ones just wrapped in a carbon vinyl . If I was to do it again tho I would get better quality vinyl what is easier to shape . Cheaper vinyl don't shape well and won't stretch as it's really stiff
@f15hlermoto ah you wrapped them did you OK pal ill look into doing the same possibly 😉
It's worth a go and is much cheaper than getting carbon ones from online
@@F15hlermoto yea definitely mate , I'm gonna give it a try
Music is drowning your commentary out..
playing music over an exahust comparison - why?
Even known the music is quiet when the exhaust sound is playing its because the music prevents people from cutting bits from my content and adding it to there's
... My bike has brass spacers that I think are grinding into the fork itself because there is a ever increasing gap?..... Put in some plastic washers for now..... The spacer in between the bearings is still is still there So I know the bearings are not collapsing towards each other... Does this sound normal?
Hi this don't sound normal. On the front wheel you'll have the bearings and spacer . Then when you put the wheel on you should have 2 wheel spacers that go between your dust seals and forks and that is it for spacers .
@@F15hlermoto ua-cam.com/users/shortsqkrzj5ffFIc?si=hCFo6W7oIJhYRHAJ
@@F15hlermoto ... The axle is also smaller than the holes in the fork And the whole wheel can go up and down If your front wheel becomes airborne..
By the looks of your short you have a different spindle to the one on my bike , mabey a previous owner has put the wrong one in . Might be worth looking for a new one
Get Video! Great Bike! Legend!
Gr8 vid - looking to change my original end can for something better and its really give me the confidence to give it a go! How did you find the Micron a year on? 😁
Hi thanks and glad the video has helped give you confidence doing it yourself . Over a year since I changed the scorpion for the micron and I'm verry gald I had done it and won't be changing it for a few reasons . 1 it sounds better , not as loud but loud enough and is track legal . 2 changing from a short end can to a full length one improved how the bike performed in the lower rpm range . 3 I love the carbon end can ( was well worth holding out and looking until I found the right one ) .
@@F15hlermoto Yeah it definitely looks and sounds gd - gr8 to hear a year on your still loving it. Will definitely look for a gd one - now got the same bike hence the Qs😜
Keep an eye out on ebay or the 98-02 zx6r group on fb . One will hopefully come up . If you ever have any questions feel free to send me a message on the F15hler moto Instagram page , happy to help if I can
@@F15hlermoto Thanks bro - very helpful👍
