Shovel Knight 10th Anniversary Tribute Edit [+ Lore Video Announcement!]
Today's a huge day! It's the 10th anniversary of one of my favorite game series; Shovel Knight! This game series holds a special place in my heart, as it was this game (as well as Shantae and the Pirate's Curse) that got me back into video games while I was in a slump during the Wii U era. This game opened my eyes to the world of indie titles and now I play indie games almost as much as non-indies! So, I decided to make this video to commemorate such a monumental occasion with both a celebratory edit AND an official announcement!

Ik you’re going to cover the light novels (which ty btw I was never able to read them) but can we talk about the funniest iteration of magolor which is him in one of the manga series which he is obsessed with a snowman(chilly) to where he has a shrine for him and implanted a tracking device on his bell. Oh and I can’t forget literally built an entire house next to his so they could be neighbors.

I like to imagine Magoland takes place after Super Kirby Clash, Dream Collection, and Dedede’s Drum Dash Deluxe, but before Star Allies, where he sees something’s wrong in Dreamland and ventures off with Lor to help Kirby.
I feel like it should be important to clarify that the EXTRA MODE version of Magolor Soul is the canon one, True Arena Magolor Soul isn't canon in the main timeline
That was definitely my intention when writing the script for this video, so I hope it wasn't too vague!

@gamenlore0491 You know newer villains all have some dumb connection to Eggman. Magolor with his deception plus the theme parks, haltmann for obvious reasons, sectonias pride (ik it's a stretch), and hyness for harnessing an eldritch being that they have no hope of controlling. Neat.
Man..... can we get the part near the end from 27:50ish to 29:01 as its own separate video without the narration? What an absolute MASTERPIECE of editing; it took me completely off guard and I may have teared up some, not gonna lie :') 28:31 is by far my favorite part of that entire remix used there (though all of it is incredible no doubt), it's so breathtaking, and I NEED that art of bby Magalor being held in Magolor Soul's hand now 😭😭😭💔💔💔
Very nice video, I'm quite suprised you haven't gotten more subs! I watched the whole video and sometimes rewinding the best parts and the art! Keep going with the quality work! We don't get people like this often, and I admire you and your team going in deep into the lore and concept art. I could've not done this if it was me 😅

28:21 This part is really emotional of what magolor is saying with the music and the art. Feel very bad for magolor for being used by the master crown and the defeat meaning magor is going to die since the master crown devouring magolor's soul until hes gone. With the art of Magolor's hand force to throw a apple to kirby and he said he wants to help, even Kirby was crying for magolor which is also sad.
damn I thought the Magolor voice in the song was a cool detail like his death scream but hearing what he actually says with that editing... damn.
Radical, I am a King Knight fan so I would be interested in learning about his vague past. He does have several hidden details in his room.

Huh, maybe its just me, but having the exact same voice with a different mascot, may take getting used to, perhaps a voice changer could be added if you want? The voice changer prob can't be to powerful so the voice can be heard easily. But its just a suggestion ofcourse, its super nessecary

Something I should also note is that Master Crown’s pause description states that even though it amplifies the user’s power, it also amplifies the darkness in the person’s heart. Also, according to Meteorz, the Japanese description added the fact that the crown traveled to many different worlds to destroy them before the events of the game. This makes me wonder why Magolor would even want to use that crown for anything when all he wanted to do was make amusement parks instead of conquering the universe. I say this because when Magolor wasn't mutated into those ghastly-looking monsters, he was talking about how he always wanted to make amusement parks for his friends in the extra mode, and in the Magoland mode once you complete every mission. Yet, once that crown mutated him, he was talking about conquering the universe without any mention of amusement parks. This leads me to believe that he initially wanted to (somehow) use the crown’s power to make amusement parks as opposed to conquering the universe for the sake of it. What are your thoughts? Do you think he wanted to use the crown’s power to rule the universe or make amusement parks?
I think it's possible! A very common theory I've seen is that the Master Crown kinda steered him in its direction, like the One Ring in Lord of the Rings. I personally think it's something like Eggman, where he wants to use this power to rule the universe but he wants to enjoy himself while doing it, so why not build amusement parks while you're at it, right? It's strange but it's totally possible he could still do both.
@gamenlore0491 I was thinking of a tragic back story for him where he was ridiculed for being weak, and he wanted to be powerful, but the master crown twisted it into revenge
@@gamenlore0491 I think that makes sense because it’s established that the Master Crown can override the user’s free will with its own. But we will have to see what the director says because, for all we know, it could be either one. And it's unknown whether or not Magolor even knew the crown could possess its user.
Aren't you gonna bring up the light novel or is that for another video?
We want to do that in a later video. We were waiting for a specific novel to get translated before covering the Light Novel appearances. It's on the backlog, lol

Great video! I adore Mags he's a great character. Then again I am biased because I am a huge fan of Kirby since all the way back in the 90s! I hope HAL never stops making these games.

LMAO, I would be lying if I said Murder Drones didn't maybe inspire Gam's design. I will say he's less of a sona and more of a visual mascot to help add some character to our videos, same as Lori. Gam is our Game-series video mascot while Lori is our Lore-series video mascot. I don't think they represent me as much as they do the channel's goals, you know? ^^

29:02 even though Magolor Soul being sucked into that portal was supposed to be the scrapped bad ending, I found that animation to make more sense than the canonical one. Having Magolor (Soul) be sucked into that portal would’ve worked well to keep his fate uncertain, which would then be followed up in the Magolor Epilogue. Whereas the canonical defeat animation looks like he should’ve just died right there. Also, I found it odd how Magolor Soul kept using portals no problem, yet one showed up out of nowhere to take him to some undisclosed location. Do you think Magolor reverted back to normal after being sucked into that portal? I ask because he still bursts into flames with his wings shrinking, similar to Traitor Magolor form 2, and Magolor Soul in Extra mode. However, we don’t see what happens after he enters that portal for the true arena variant.
I personally think the Magolor we know is long gone from the True Arena fight. Whatever that thing is, it's not him anymore. He kinda got his soul assimilated by the Crown in the True Arena hypothetical, especially since he cries out Kirby's name one final time before disappearing to who knows where. Maybe we'll see this version again in the future at some point but only time will tell if it's ever touched on again.
@@gamenlore0491 as much as I hate to admit it, I think you’re right. We don’t see Magolor Soul shrink like he did in normal and extra modes, and his eyes don’t come back despite the crown’s red eye rolling in the back of its head (ew 🤮), similar to what happened with the previous versions.
12:20 it threw me off that HAL used Magolor Soul instead of Traitor Magolor form 2 for the light novel and Magolor Epilogue because of how often the second traitor form was referenced in Kirby Star Allies in some of the unlock able pictures. Plus, I also liked the second traitor form more than the soul variant because of the wing structure, the voice clips, and the shape on his wrists.
Honestly I still see as potentially canon in an alternate history sorta way. Magolor Soul being more hollowed out and possessed than form 2 (the eye showing up more, holes in his horns, more distorted voice) is likely a result of him tapping into more of the Crown's power to become Magolor EX. You can even see Soul's symbols sometimes in EX's fight. So I imagine form 2 is the Crown having taken control just like with Soul but not having fully possessed and hollowed him out yet.
Really well put-together vid. I did not know anything about Portal's history and DEFINITELY didn't know it was originally imagined as more fantasy-leaning. Also feels like I experienced the entire game vicariously through Glitch's descriptions and Noole's editing (Noole I LOVE your editing style). Banger job, both of you! Absolutely worth the wait. 5:56 That Cake is a lie and only true Game & Lore fans know the truth.
My first exposure to portal was actually Lego dimensions of all things. One of the levels in the story mode took place in it, and so did the credits strangely enough. There was also a cake that was really important to the plot for some reason. I didn’t really know what it was at the time and I just thought it was kind of creepy and weird💀
It definitely stands out compared to the other series featured in Lego Dimensions and I can see how it would come off that way.

One tiny thing you may have not mentioned: RTD was meant to have multiple endings and the ending you got was dependent on whenever or not you got all the orbs. If you don't have all the orbs, you get the bad ending in which Magolor's Soul gets dragged off in a portal. If you DO have all the orbs, you get the good ending where he goes back to his normal form and vanishes. Ultimately, the plan was scrapped and you got what was mean to be the good ending, whenever you got all the orbs or not. The bad ending was ultimately used in Deluxe's True Arena.
So Magolor souls defeat was based on the bad ending concept?
@@leonalewis7172 The defeat in the True Arena, that is.
The good ending was reused in the Extra Mode as a recolor in both versions, and the same goes for the True Arena in the Wii version. So in other words, you get the bad ending for clearing the hardest challenge in both games, which is what would probably be the opposite of most games, where you would get a better ending for clearing the hardest challenge(s).
