A great performance. Baker and Bruce look like they are having a great time ... Clapton just looks like he's working - but when it's time for his guitar to do the talking he's all in. Looks like they had to perform facing each other so they could stay in sync.

I love their commitment to percussion!
😊
Amen
All Star Team!!
I never get tired of sharing this comment I came across on another video: “It's worth being old now to have been young then.”
This song just puts you in the mood no matter what!!! I never tire of this song!!! ❤❤❤
Autograph stole this intro
I picked them up at the airport in Omaha to play at the ranch bowl. His step father Ed Cassidy playing drums
Epic. Insane talent everywhere, but zero pretentiousness and loads pure great music and fun. This performance just crushes. it.
And that's Rick Derringer in the red
Still a favorite song in 2024
thanks for bringing this video
Sounds exactly like cheap trick ain’t that a shame intro
Like a big guitar wave machine
Get a Harley and put this on and you dancing at the intersection
It took me 30 odd years to hear this intro and know the origin Cheap Trick’s Ain’t that a shame intro.
Is that Skunk Baxter I see? Wow that lad did get around, didn't he?
EXCELENTE !!
Great tempo. Great version. Rocking
My brother in law brought a reel-to-reel player home from Vietnam in 1967 and wouldn't let anyone touch it but he had a tape that said 'Spirit'. This song and 'Fresh Garbarge' ushered my teenie bopper ears into the world of serious rock to my extreme delight! This song tells the very real story of how it happens in an unmistakable, musical story......And Skunk! Insane.
Was it a TEAC??
@@ds7675 might have been, honestly can't recall. But it also had 'Alice's Restaurant; on it by Arlo Guthrie. I was just a kid, and quite impressionable by all of it!
@@chazmann108 When you’re a kid you don’t always remember the finer details but it was a nice story that reminded me of someone who did the exact same thing during Vietnam. It was the PACEX (google it) catalogue where service members could buy items rather inexpensively than in regular retail stores. Many an item was sent home during that war.
@@chazmann108 When we’re young we can’t always remember the finer points of makes, models, etc. on musical gear. Your story was similar to someone I knew who was in Vietnam who also bought a reel-to-reel along with the other components to make an excellent listening experience to music. The service members used the PACEX ( google it) catalogue which stood for the Pacific Exchange through the military which meant they could buy pricier items at a great price. It sold many, many items and family members put in their orders as well. One bonus of being in that war but that was about it. Anyway, your story resonated with me so thanks for that comment. ETA: I still love Alice’s Restaurant.
@@chazmann108 I have actually tried 2 times to answer your latest comment and it will not post. It’s either operator error, which is def a possibility, or YT doesn’t like it but I’ve got no clue as to why. I’ll try again Saturday.
need to here Blackfoot do this song ! gets real
I got the fever and need more COWBELL!!
wow if anybody can name those guys in the video I'll give you chicken pot pie
I remember the days of a 'line on you' literally.. a few speed bumps, boys! Lol, clean and sober now. But some of them look like they're feeling real good! I've always loved this song, and of course,'Natures Way!'
My god they were awsome !
Yep,still good decades later!!!😊
is that Bobby Lakind on the bongos?
Skunk 🦨
Spirit with a little help from friends, I can see Skunk Baxter, and Mick Fleetwood at least!
60 years old and still gets my blood flowing and old bones grinding about the house! Good times music during the best time with the best friends anywhere.
Foxy stuff
More cowbell!
That’s jamming Man! Don’t get any better then that, had not heard it in years, still sounds good
Randy California was only 17 when he wrote this - can that be possible..?! It's an incredible track, I never tire of it...
71. I always hung out with the older guys.
Saw them in the 80s at a theater in Poughkeepsi NY with Canned Heat and Country Joe. Small old beautiful theater. Fantastic !!
theater is called the Chance.❤
This is the band who kicked the Beatles + the Stones to the kerb.
Is that Skunk Baxter to Randy’s right sitting on the chair at the beginning?
Randy and Skunk together! How could ya go wrong!
Well Done 10-4
Groovy Baby I Like The Engery Livel Nice 10-4 Pray For Peace

What a totally kick ass version!
Sure looks a lot like Jeff "Skunk" Baxter working incognito? Could be?
One of the greatest underrated bands of all time , Spirit were fantastic and Randy California was on fire when he played.
Skunk had his own thing going on during this filming....
Great song. Great album. Great under-rated band!
Worked in Rock Radio for 40 years!! After about my fifth time thru this fucker as loud as I can get it! All I can do is...smile!
This 1984 version is a remake. Saw Spirit at the Brewery in East Lansing, 1979
Say what you will trashing the boomer generation but thank us for this tune and The Greatest Rock n’ Roll for all posterity … You’re Welcome !!🦊
