Thinking about cancelling my BT broadband / TV packages etc at the moment, just noticed that the contract is that the BT youview box has to be returned at the end of the contract (that does seem odd but if that is the contract that is that) and so all the shows recorded will be lost - doesn't appear to be any info about how much it costs to just buy it outright and keep the box, though I have seen £89 banded about but as with many things BT the info dates from 2022 and not 2024). Hopefully the BT person will be able to clarify that as I have no problem with £89 for a box that I have enjoyed using. Why does BT (as well as many others) make it so hard to cancel (or sneakily renew contracts or rolling contracts) ?

Virgin, BT and Sky wonder whybso many people buy these dodgy firesticks...it's because they're impossible to contact and impossible to deal with. If you want to upgrade you can do it all online, try doing the same for downgrades.

Was contemplating joining BT TV after looking at options to upgrade an aging Youview box. BT sound like aggressive sharks. Not touching with a ten foot barge pole. What a shame - their recent youview box wasnt looking too bad, until all the contract traps came into play. I just want to buy a youview box and own it for Freeview channels with a flexible OPTION for paid channels.

What do you think of the HD quality on BT tv ?? Does it have 4K ??

I had to cancel my bt package before the end of my contract as my husband passed away and I was moving away. As I had ended my contract too early they charged me over £900. This was around 18 months ish ago. I was told if I came back within 6 months they would refund me. I still find it hard to believe that they did this. I won’t be going back

I just spoke to them today - got a tv bt sport deal for under 10 pounds a month on top of my broadband, the guy said 12 months for this even though its normally 24, I asked him and he said yep its 12 months. Got my emails saying welcome to your 24 month contract, I'm going to ring them but if it goes nowhere I am going to cancel within the 14 days.

They done the same with me, 4 or 5 months into a 2 year contract I moved home BT reconnected me in my new place about a week after I moved, then I got a letter from BT telling me I've started a new 2 year contract. RIP OFF! Can't wait till it expires in Feb 2024.

You don't need an ariel for the BT Box Pro, but you will lose some free-to-air channels. Personally I'm glad I switched to BT as Sky's customer service is appalling. They also refused to give me a reasonable deal to remain with them. I'm currently saving £30/month with BT for roughly the same package (including multi-room).

I came across your channel as I was persuaded by a very charming BT salesman to switch from Sky to BT. The offer was brilliant nearly half what I was paying sky. But afterwards I was having doubts. After watching your video I have cancelled my BT order and contacted Sky to uncancel and to negotiate and much better deal. So a big massive thank you for your warning.

WARNING, All BT are trained to be very nice and friendly, but they are corperate sales people on a bonus to get you to sign a one sided contract. It is worded in a way that means they can change the terms in their favour at any time, No solicitor would get you to sign it.

can you not just cancel within the 14 day period of the NEW contract to get out of paying the ridiculous termination fee?

I just cancelled my BT essentials package as never used it and they want the box back, cheeky but it is in their rules. will send it back as everything is on demand now anyway

Shame no provider takes elderly people into account when designing TV software. No elderly could see the very thin white line under the delete part on the BT box. They should make the whole word show a different box colour.

I was about to get a BT TV (promotion) 24 month contract. Watching your video made me change my mind about it and I am sure it saved me as well from a lot of aggravation. Thanks for the warning.

The volume button on my bt tv remote works I think I set up it in during set up when I 1st got it

For me, I think that Sky Q is better than BT. Though BT has better Internet, it is so confusing to use!

If you go into the box settings you can set it to prompt 'yes' before deleting something, stops things being deleted my accident.

RIP 'Twinkle Toes' Phil Bennett. Im a Kiwi and was about 11 years old when he toured with the Lions and also with the Welsh team. We've had a BT box since 2016 and hadn't known the jump forward update to software and my son sat on the remote last night and it kept jumping and now I've watched this and realised what it was. Thank you. Like I say we're out of contract since 2018 and use it as a freeview box and wondering whether to get this new box but interface is still same so may stick with old but box 🤔

Sky are criminals. Their customer service is atrocious. Their services piss poor. I had sky for 3 weeks and had nothing but problems. Stay away from sky at all costs!!

Thanks for the video, was thinking of leaving sky and moving to BT but having watched your video I've concluded the Sky box leaves the BT box standing, cheers.

Been looking at the new BT box for when my Talktalk contract ends as they no longer add any channels through the standard setup like they used to and its all through apps. So glad BT have stuck with this kind of format as it also means being able to cancel the add ons at any time.

Sky have just put my bill up to £158 a month so going to leave and look at other ways.
