Brilliant!
After watching this entire build, although I' can appreciate recycling materials, those plastic sliders leave something to be desired. I'm surprised the OCD hasn't made you change them out for wood.
@@Tony-xc5sk Surprisingly they're not bothering me yet. I like the light weight and the fact that they're utterly silent. Thankfully they can be lifted out and replaced in moments if they ever bother me.
My man, you are a crappy videographer but you can sure build. Nice work.
@@Tony-xc5sk Haha thanks, definitely not my forte. I like to think they've improved a bit since the early videos at least.
@@andysgarage1 Yes, it's getting better.
We went to Victron. The tech support from Renogy could not help and left us hanging with the DC to DC charge controller. It was time to make the switch. More expensive but more reliable.
@@cornsackman People definitely seem to prefer Victron's tech support. Thankfully I haven't needed help with anything thus far.

No, I wouldn't spray over the window trim with anything, I would clean it well with a microfiber cloth to remove faded rubber and treat with 303 or similar. Or replace it if it's too far gone.

Hello, "Andy's Garage" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channnel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or email?
Did you have a chance to do any testing with an insulated van and the heat?
@@antigroundhogday we've been using the van a lot and the A/C has been great. I'll see if I can shoot an update video this week.
@@andysgarage1 Wonderful. Glad the A/C has been working out. I'm planning things out now and am strongly considering a 12V or 24V system, along with enough battery to run a mini-split of sorts, with the fan, condenser, and compressor underneath like yours to maximize stealth and solar. It'd be helpful to know (but of course you're not obligated, every bit of info. helps!)... A) how long as you running your A/C? Are you running it only during the day when you have good solar, or are your batteries carrying your A/C through a hot night? B) What are the ambient temps and humidity where you have used your A/C? C) What other loads are you putting on your batteries in addition to your A/C? (If you use an induction cooktop a bunch, that would def. be something to consider in sizing my battery bank) D) How big is your batt. bank, what state of charge do you end up with after using the A/C? E) Can your solar recharge your battery banks after a heavy day/night of A/C usage or do you need to use a DC/DC charger? F) What's the max draw of the A/C unit and what is the average A/C wattage used over X period of time (to account for the A/C reaching its set point and cycling on and off, not full blast 24/7) G) How clear have the skies been and what time of year (hours of sun/day) have you tested your system?
@@antigroundhogday I can answer some of these when I have a few minutes. Many of them are however very subjective to my specific specs and environmental conditions.
@@andysgarage1 beggars can't be choosers. Whatever you're willing to disclose, I'm happy to receive! 🤙
@@antigroundhogday I've so far used my A/C in full July in FL heat and humidity, I run it during the day to cool off after a run or while relaxing. The most important time is of course at night. even with full solar offset (around 450 of the 525w) It's still drawing 30+ amps. with 400ah of lithium I could make it most of the day but batteries would likely be flat. The most important time for me is through the night, I find that it will keep a reasonable temp through the night but can be a decent swing of temp between cycling on and off. The A/C does not cycle during the day in FL, it's full bore all the time. There is also a huge temp differential between the front and rear of the van even with insulated window covers. The A/C draws around 800-900 watts or around 70A @12v on full blast, I can run everything along with it except my Keurig which draws 130+ amps for about 30 seconds( I've never tried these two together but it would be feasible with my design) , I would not run or size a system to run a cooktop and the A/C at the same time. My stove is propane as induction uses too much power for my taste. Again my bank is 400ah and a night of heavy usage leaves me around 30% from full, solar alone will not replenish more than 30-40% of that so I have a small generator to augment and a DC to DC charger. In everything but full summer in FL the system is amazing, had 80~ degree temps during the peak of the day for a 4 day trip last weekend and 50s at night, used 20% of batteries tops and were easily replenished by the solar. I think anywhere but full summer here the system is perfect. That said it is not getting the whole space a constant comfy temp in midday in July, just passable and cutting down the humidity. My fix for the summer is going to be hanging a moving blanket in front of the bed area to close it off during sleeping hours, this should drastically improve the required cycles. I'm planning a more comprehensive video but I've been too busy with the rest of the build. Hope this helps address most of your questions, feel free to ask questions as they arise.
Besutiful workmanship, but I'm sure you know by now: acoustically it is an absolutely 💯% horrible speaker placement. I wouldn't spread it....
It actually sounds great! I just adjusted the speaker balance and it's a huge improvement over the OEM locations! And thanks!
I used predominantly Renogy in all my system, and for the price I can’t complain one bit.
Same here, it's been about a year and I definitely have no complaints 🤷
Nice work, it looks great. I too have a used Amazon sprinter, that I am slowly working on. I wondered if a long nut could be used on the ends of the bolts holding the side door rail that would allow you to screw down the molding you made instead of using glue or double sided tape? I have one other question, did your van come with more than the one ignition key, and if not was it expensive to get a spare key? Thanks for sharing your progress.
@@kevinking6692 I'd love to see your build! Mine did not come with a spare key, I live in fear of losing it. Those are studs from the upper track but you could absolutely use a recessed sleeve style nut or the like if you didn't want to use tape. I like the clean look and it's pretty well attached even before the tape.
Bro, hell of a good fix. It's coming out sexy AF
Thank you!
I’m in the metro Atlanta area. I want to know how you feel about the business you purchased from as it pertains to the mechanical condition of the vehicle. What were some of your unpleasant surprises? Do you recommend the Cobb county business for my used sprinter purchase? Thanks
@@brakejames2639 That's a pretty big question. I feel like I bought it from a seedy dealership that buys vehicles from auction and mark them up a few hundred percent. I would only recommend it if you're mechanically inclined and very much willing to take the risk.
@@brakejames2639 If I lived in the area I would probably try to buy one at auction. No particularly nasty surprises for me aside from the few things I pointed out in video, hope that answers your question.
Thanks 🙏
Coming along very well bro. Cant wait to see the finished product. Rock on dude...................
@@christopherbates7786 Thanks!
It's going to be a massive headache if you ever want to convert that back into an Amazon van. Coming along great though, attention to detail is amazing.

Was the hitch install easy? Any links to the hitch you got?
@@surfmarko it was very easy if you don't have a 37G spare tire water tank. No link but I believe it's a Reese, will check later
@@andysgarage1 Thanks! I just got a 2019 Amazon sprinter and I am completely unqualified to own this vehicle but excited. I think I found on on sprinter source too and reading your posts on de-programming the van. You're being stalked! lol
Hello sir do you still have the amazon rear view screen or did you go with something else?? I remove the harnesses that amazon got installed on the van. I knew i was not going to be able to used the rear view screen anymore because of that. I’m looking for to see if i can still get that one to work without all this wires hanging around.
@@kewilltaveras2774 Programming out the PSM kills power to the rearview camera. In order to use the Amazon camera you will simply need to run new 12V and 12V ignition wires. I purchased an "Autovox" unit from Amazon and made a new mount which I covered in another video. Cheers
@@andysgarage1 Where is the video on how you made the bracket, I just bought the same mirror and could not see how to fix it up!
@@RDVanConversions I just used a piece of aluminum flat stock with two bends in a vice. I didn't make a video on it unfortunately.
Thank you for sharing your detailed videos. I was wondering if you could prepare a cost summary of your van conversion. It would be incredibly helpful to see the breakdown items (cost and where to buy) and understand the whole investment required for such a excellent project.
@@sangcheolkim6442 Thank you! I'm not keeping a detailed list of materials or costs as I go. I can ballpark costs and explain any individual project questions in the comments but I have no plans of completing such a breakdown. Partially because I don't want to see the staggering number when I'm done... 😅
@@andysgarage1 Thanks for your quick reply. If you could provide a ballpark cost summary for each part or step in your videos, it would help me budget for my van conversion. By the way, you’re doing really nice work.
@@sangcheolkim6442 Thanks again, I'll do my best to talk about costs but if there's a part or tool etc you'd like the cost of just shoot me a comment and I'll be happy to elaborate. Still trying to improve my videos, I'm just getting started with them.
It looked like you installed both the upper and lower tracks first and then the doors. How did you get the doors into the tracks? Is there enough flex in the door to squeeze them in without creasing them?
@@incubusdriver391 These style of tracks are meant to have removeable doors, the upper slide has taller grooves so you can just lift the panel up and out if using glass or something rigid. That said, cutting your own doors you can do them however you like, mine are cut snugger for a slightly tighter fit to minimize vibrations. There's also plenty of flex in the door panels to flex them and pull them out. Hope that answers your question. Cheers
@@andysgarage1 Answers my question perfectly, thank you
Where did you get the locking compartment above the driver sunvisor?
@@AlwaysBeSourcin It came on the Amazon van's from the factory, I'm not sure where else it could be sourced.
So, did you buy it from a salvage auction or which auction? I’m also looking into an Amazon van but mostly on Copart and IAAI, the vans are without any damage and I’m wondering if most of them can have mechanical damage since Amazon makes the driver turn of the van when leaving the van to deliver packages. And I heard that turning on and off diesel engines a lot is bad, it’s mainly made for long driving. So my question is: is your van with any mechanical damage (engine damage) or any wear or noises. Are you worried about the engine or you have no issues at all? It would be nice to know these things before buying an Amazon van.
@@ybukreyev1426 I was not able to buy it at an auction, that would have been a much better deal. I've had it for one year+ and done about 3-4k miles. The engine and transmission has been great so far with no problems or questionable activity. I'll report back on my channel if that changes! 🤞🏻
ua-cam.com/video/Msc4nSAl_VQ/v-deo.html
So they wont sell you one with the badging still on eh? That would be mega stealth.
@@1683clifton Funny you mention that, I had totally planned on making some big Amazon prime magnets before I cut holes and did the flares, that killed the stealth... 🤷🏻
Pulling up to the spot, special delivery!
@@1683clifton Seriously, who's not happy to see their packages getting delivered?!
Creative design. Curious about if the sink drains rather slowly with that size drain tube.
Surprisingly no, before I added the vent I mentioned in the video it just had a small screw off vent and it would drain rather slowly. Currently it seems to keep up with the flow of my Seaflo 3.0gpm pump very nicely.
I would not have thought of how to secure it. I was thinking brackets tac-weld with threads to secure. But coming out sexy bro
@@christopherbates7786 Thanks! I appreciate it!
Soudtrack is annoying af. Stop & explain a bit, please. At least explain steps. What's the ° of inclination required for the condenser? What's the orientation of the compressor? All detail of your drain modification was a blur. I've been interested in the Treeligo split unit for my Promaster conversion. But, I'm thinking of a left rear door mount near my power source. I haven't looked under my van but it has me intrigued. Thanks for posting. Look forward to the update.
@@johnwren3976 The music isn't my first choice but copyright free stuff that YT will let you upload is a mixed bag 🤷🏻. There is no inclination requirement for the condenser according to the manufacturer, I just angled it to facilitate installation in the space I had under the van and for oil return to the compressor. The drain modification was just to keep the overhead shelf at a reasonable height. I honestly wouldn't recommend modifying the drain unless you absolutely have to for your situation. Sorry the videos suck, this was an early one, I'd like to think the more recent ones are explained a bit more, but I'm here to answer questions regardless. Updated video with some AC details is coming, just busy completing the build. Cheers
I have a 2005 KTM 450. Just replaced the battery today for the 2nd time in 19 years. Simple lead acid battery .. a Yuasa YTX5L-BS. They last and are only about $55. Battery disconnected where? At the battery terminals themselves or by using the quick disconnect cable near the throttle.?

Nice work. For the rivnut holes you drilled, how did you get a level line when the van is all wonky shape wise? ty
Lots of measurements and a straight edge, wish I had a more elegant answer but it was just a slow process of measuring to every available reference point before drilling. That goes for the lower cabinets as well.
Does anyone know how to remove Auto locking on Ex AMAZON SPRINTER PLEASE
You will need to go to the dealership to program out the PSM or find someone that is competent with Xentry.
Hello, pretty neat build 👌🏼 congratulations! Any chance you can upload more content as far as the rearview mirror and camera with the wiring process as well as the 10" radio? Same exact story here with another amazon 2019 sprinter, and I just wanted to get it done as smooth as possible and now thanks to guys like you is possible.
I didn't really film the radio process as it was fairly convoluted and there are a lot of videos out there already. Everything was pretty straightforward with adaptors and some wiring skill. The rearview was also pretty simple, I just added a small fuse box for the radio and rearview under the driver's seat. Next time I have the seat out I could do an overview but I'm afraid I didn't film the process sorry!
