The C6 High G tuning has some advantages in my opinion. This video explains what strings I buy and how I string my C6 lap steels.

Great job on this wonderful classic, Joel.
Amazing !!
Sounds great Joel! Wonderful playing on the lap steel and all. This song goes in and out of sounding a bit familiar.? Is it original? I love that beat too.
It is on George Benson's Breezin' Album, written by José Feliciano
@ Thank you! In the day, I’m sure I heard it many times. No wonder it was familiar.😊
Hi, I'm a big fan. Just hoping you're doing well and wishing I could see more of your music! Mahalo for the great videos!

Very nice, Joel !
NICE!
Thanks!
Very nice Joel! Thank you for sharing!
Thanks for listening
Beautiful music and you're a good singer. So nice to hear the music. I think if you had a Hawaiian shirt on, it would set the mood.
It is a Hawaiian shirt. It's a reverse print. Thanks

It’s C6 with a high G
Lovely. Eagles/Carpenters.
Thanks
Nice...very nice. Peaceful and serene . Thanks.
Beautiful, where did you get the backing track? I am trying to play this song for a long time, it is not easy, but i think if you have a good backing track, things are more inspiring.
Hi Jean, I am glad that you like my arrangement. I create all of my backing tracks. This one is from my Adventures in Hawaiian Steel Guitar CD. I have a tablature of it too in my lessons. The melody has a wide range. joelkatzmaui.com/product/adventures-in-hawaiian-steel-guitar/
@@joelkatzhawaiiansteelguita9121 Hello Joel, I would buy the download if i could use the backing tracks to play along, that would be a great option. Is there a possibility? I am from Belgium. Thanks.
@@germona You would like to purchase my backing track to Hawaiian wedding song?
@@joelkatzhawaiiansteelguita9121 Not only, the backing tracks from the album adventures-in-hawaiian-steel-guitar as a donwload if possible.
Great tune, nice playing. Thanks Joel
Thanks for listening

So nice, beautiful guitar also. Greetings from Holland.
Thank you
very nice !
thanks
nice
Thank you
Very beautiful!
Well done in general! Thanks for your reaction. You really have the pedal steel in mind. I'm more into slants, and try to avoid open strings. They're too straight for me, not "alive" ( maybe due to my cheap instrument😏).
Sounds amazing Joel !!
Thank you
Joel - I cannot understand why you have only 56 views when, at least in my opinion, there seem to be inferior versions of "Sand" on You Tube with over 1,000 views! Whatever, I think you made some very nicely played improvisations of the music. Query: Is your top string tuned to high G or E? If it's E, then I assume that you're actually tuned to A minor 6th rather than D11th, G being the 11th note of the chord? Very much enjoyed.
Aloha Stan, I am glad you liked my video. I normally tune my instrument in a standard C6 on the middle 6 strings. I add a high G and a low Bb. On this version in D, I tuned the middle G down to F#. This gives me the nice 9th chords in a straight bar. When I stay in regular C6 I have to do the 9th chords with a split slant on strings 2,3, and 5, with the 5th string one fret lower.
Many thanks for your reply, Joel. That's what I thought you must have done! Yes, I've gone through exactly the same problems in C6th myself to play those glorious 9th chords!! Aloha and very best wishes.@@joelkatzhawaiiansteelguita9121
@@joelkatzhawaiiansteelguita9121 Thank you for spelling it out here Joel but I'm still a little lost. Could you write down from high to low or low to high, the 6 string tuning for D11? It sounds a lot like Open D so I'm thinking I won't have to change much on my Weissenborn. Thank you!
@@jerryderr8043 When I use a 6 string I still use the high G. I would just tune the lower G to F# for this song. High to Low would be G E C A F# E
yes @@joelkatzhawaiiansteelguita9121
Thanks, I do have a tablature and backing track.
Love, awesome rendition. Hope to be able to play it some day.
