Why use reference planes on each floor slab when we could achieve the same result with a simpler method in Revit? For instance, we could modify the family by adding an invisible model line (e.g., 100mm upward from 0,0,0 to 0,0,100). This approach ensures the object is correctly hosted, visible, and functions as intended. Alternatively, we could adjust the view range settings to "capture" the drain family in the scope. Wouldn’t these methods be more efficient and less cumbersome than relying on reference planes?
Yes, that's true. This video is meant for relatively new Revit users; and the Floor Drain is a Revit out-of-the-box family. If you don't know much about families yet and you want to use Revit default families, using Reference Plane can be faster. On your other note, changing the view Range in the example we were working on would have hidden other objects.

I have a question, is this considered a multi - objective optimisation since you want to simultaneously remove the intersections and lower the length?? Would Octopus or Wallecei be able to use these at two seperate fitness inputs? Thank you!

Interesting. I was using tools to capture the 3D data from my graphics card. I’ll have to give this a try.
This is by far one of the best and easiest to follow tutorials on look up tables in RFA's. Not really messing with them in the past, I was not aware that parameters had to be type and not instance, but that error came fairly quick for me. I also wasnt sure if they could be either family or shared parameters (found out that they could). Thanks! Great Stuff.

Revit isn't designed for Landscape, Vectorworks is the way to go in this field

Is there a way to create the material within Dynamo, so that the color is pulled from HEX color number for example, and I can have more colors? I'm trying to achieve a gradient.
