From paul-pearson.blogspot.ca: We Need to Talk: Respect Records was an imprint of Stax. There’s a paucity of information available about Respect. Their original mission was to represent the socially conscious music made under the Memphis label’s umbrella. They released the Rev. Jesse Jackson’s “I Am Somebody” speech as an album in 1971. Also on their roster, somewhat surprisingly, was Buford Pu...
A SONG FROM THE SEA
Переглядів 1198 років тому
This song was inspired by an idea/feeling that The Waterboys' song "This Is This Sea" has haunted me with for many years. I was initially trying for a Leonard Cohen/ Nick Cave vibe lyrically, but here Moroccan singer/composer Oualid Ekami performs this song with a lush, romantic arrangement and vocal that seems quite appropriate in retrospect. Video by Doni Irawan! W.D. Clarke W.D. Clarke is al...
Angry Cable Customer - Dramatization - White Mythology - WD Clarke & LJ Ganser
Переглядів 4288 років тому
This is an extract from W.D Clarke's novel, White Mythology, narrated by L.J. Ganser (out now in hardcover and eBook editions and forthcoming on Audible.com). You can also listen to the first chapter of the novel by visiting u...

[As featured in my book White Mythology: Two Novellas available in harcover, on Kindle, and now as audiobook narrated by Audie-winning L.J. Ganser! ] [www.goodreads.com/book/show/23018246-white-mythology] In 1988 (???) the late great Brian Boyd obtained a first-generation copy of this recording from his girlfriend, a secretary at Kingston Cablenet, and passed it on to his brother Steve, who all...

This sounds exactly the way I remember it. What a trip back in time. That guy had the most amount of swears readily available like a machine gun :) I wish I could get a picture of what the guy looked like. Probably the type of angry guy you can find at Canadian Tire bitchin' about auto-parts.

Dr. Evil: I’ve been expecting you, Mr. Powers. Austin: My father is missing. Dr. Evil: Yes, I heard. How ironic. You finally caught me, yet now you need me more than ever. But then again, you’ve always needed me, haven’t you, Mr. Powers? Remember when I told you we’re not so different, you and I? Dr. Evil (1997): We’re not so different, you and I. Dr. Evil: See? I did say that. Mmm-hmm.
