18:40 Airports aren't the only locations for money changers. Banks and professional changes are in all PH cities and generally have better rates than at the airport and hotels. Relying on being able to use USD in PH can get you stuck. US notes have to be almost perfect, unused, to be accepted by the exchanger. Those worn bills in the video won't be of much use in PH. If you know a Filipino you can trust with a bank account you can transfer USD to their account and then they can get peso notes for you from an ATM.

I use composition notebooks. For indexing I use tape to make tabs. The problem I have with ring binders is the pages ripping out. Yes the laminated pages help a lot. I'm hoping to take a cruise from west coast to SE Asia if timing is right.

I had a super close friend in high school who was deaf. I hear OK and she could talk pretty well but was super great at reading lips. All deaf people I've known have been very expressive in their face and with their hands which to me was always better communication than the spoken word. More direct. I'm expressive too. I'm planning to move to SE Asia next year and was concerned about the different languages because I suck at learning new languages. It finally occurred to me to take a lesson from the deaf. I plan to print common phrases in the local language on one side of cards and English on the other side along with the local phonetic so I can try to say the phrase. Do you have any other tips? I'm 67, healthy and will be looking for a wife or to hire an assistant. I think a deaf woman would be great because I think the communication would be much better. Pretty sure I could learn sign language much faster than a spoken language. Places like PH English is common, but Filipinos don't really like speaking English... say it makes their nose bleed. Sign language I think I'd be able to communicate with a partner on the max level. Even if I meet a hearing woman I'd want us both to learn sign language for the same reasons. I see there are some schools for the deaf in PH. I think I'll hang around those areas and be able to find good sign language teachers for me.

Since foreigners can't own land in Philippines you better buy a condominium unit which you can own.

You're right that if you marry Filipina like you're marrying the whole family because you're already member of her family but it doesn't mean that you will have to support the whole family financially even if they are homeless unless you are rich and voluntarily help them in short it's not an obligation of foreigner husband to support the whole family financially or give them shelter they must work for themselves too.
