This is a real-life event that explains why your father travels from Mumbai to Shanghai 3 times per month..when India🇮🇳 and China🇨🇳 don’t have diplomatic business relations. On this day 24 October 1860 the Americans (USA) using the British Government as their agents forced the Chinese Emperor to sign the Treaty of Tianjin. The American Congress passed a telegram to the British 🇬🇧 to start the confrontation. The American looked clean while the British empire took the fall out of the Opium Wars. Like the story The Count of Monte-Cristo the Chinese people faced ruins and en-slaved by their debts for the next 100 years…while American Citizens prospered (1860-1960). While it took Edmond Dantès only 20years to seek his revenge!! It took the Chinese Peoples Government 165years….to finally catch up to the American Economy. This my son is not about 33Trillion US.Debt or China holding 7Trillion US.Government Debts. It’s about the Children of Danglars and Fernand SUFFER!! We have already taken all their low-paying 10,000plus jobs!! We are now competing in Space Technology, High-tech Semiconductors and AI …. My dear son the book the Count of Monte-Cristo was never about the 650million Franc fortune it was about making the CULPRIT SUFFER!! and the golden-day will come in the “near-future” when the CHINESE🇨🇳 economy overtakes the US🇺🇸 ECONOMY!! and in that day your Indian father will prosper $$$ just to be safe your business 👨‍💼father has kept back door open with the Americans😂………..???

Before I ever read the book, I saw the movie starring Richard Chamberlain. Once I read the book, and realized how incredibly involved and comprehensive it is, I decided that no movie, even if it was three hours long could ever truly capture the story adequately. Even though the movies were great, the novel is so much better. I always said it would have to be a mini-series. I have arrived. I hope I'm not disappointed.

Fantastic rendition, and almost nearly captures the entirety of the unabridged novel. The only issue i have with this is that Caderousse's character was rewritten into one who aides the count in his actions towards revenge. Also, the back stories of some of the side characters were left out such as Pepino. Regardless, this is shot well, beautifully acted, and superbly put together. Thank you for uploading this to UA-cam and thank you to everyone involved in producing this miniseries.

This is one of the best adaptations of the book's story, along with the 1964 English miniseries and the 1979 and 1998 French miniseries. I would have preferred the ending with Count forgiving Danglars as in the book and the ending with Haydee. But it was an excellent miniseries.

This 7-hour long mini series was a monumental undertaking, and had great acting, set and costume development, dramatic action, scenery, etc.. I did find the destruction of so many peoples' lives to be depressing. But that is exactly what Alexandre Dumas, the author of "Count of Monte Cristo", was trying to convey -- that revenge will destroy not only the perpetrators of injustice, but also the unjustly treated victims who later seek revenge. The theme of this movie is found at the 2 hour and 10 minute mark, when Edmond enters a Roman Catholic confessional and confesses to a priest his sins, especially his desire for revenge. The priest says that he needs to forgive whoever hurt him and that, if he does not, he will enter the gates of Hell where he will be consumed by perpetual fire. The priest goes on to say that God is the one to grant justice, not man and that, if Edmond does not repent, he will never find love again. To seek revenge he will need to dig his own grave first. Indeed, what the priest says is just what the Bible teaches. Romans 12:19 says, "Do not take revenge, my dear friends, but leave room for God’s wrath, for it is written: “It is mine to avenge; I will repay,” says the Lord." Proverbs 20:22 says, "Do not say, 'I will get even for this wrong.' Wait for the Lord, and He will deliver you." Leviticus 19:18 says, "Do not seek revenge or bear a grudge against anyone among your people, but love your neighbor as yourself. I am the LORD." Galatians 6:7 says, "Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, that he will also reap." So we don't want to sow hate, or we will reap it back. God will see to it that all human beings will eventually receive justice for evil doings (or for good deeds, too, for that matter), whether in this life or the next. And, fortunately, Jesus Christ forgives sins for those who repent so that we can go to Heaven Hebrews 12:15 also says, "See to it that no one falls short of the grace of God and that no bitter root grows up to cause trouble and defile many." Matthew 7:12 says, "So in everything, do to others what you would have them do to you." That does not include destroying them! In Matthew 6:15 Jesus said, "But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins." Unforgiveness and bitterness is like drinking poison and expecting the other person to die. It doesn't affect the other person as much as it consumes and destroys the vengeful person. This point was evidenced by the Count of Monte Cristo's insomnia and personal restlessness and dependency on the drug he used to stay calm. Causing the destruction and downfall of others did not heal Edmond Dante of the grief and injustices he had suffered but, instead, he caused many innocent people to suffer as he destroyed his enemies. Mercedes understood these truths and, hopefully, the movie ending implied that she would have a good future influence on Edmond. Love DOES heal, but cannot co-exist in a heart with hatred, revenge and unforgiveness. Forgiveness must come first.

While vengeance can get you the mind of evil it's important to prosecuted the evil of the society . So for me an eye for an eye only make the world bind but not taking the eye will make you the only bind person .

Read the book twice (2014, 2020) and have been waiting for such a loyal adaptation. Just wish they had stuck with the poisoning of Valentine, her grandfather having a more active role in her defense, and Dantes saving her. Just wish the romance between her and Max had been more fleshed out like in the book

Betrayal at its best. i read the book in high school, watch with Jim Caviezel and this, still amazed by its story.

I liked the movie. I wish they do a sequel or a prequel to find out who creaed them.
