Subzero Winter Solo Camp Goes Wrong
Переглядів 422 роки тому
A last minute decision to take advantage of a small wood patch at a section of the Ridgeway, goes wrong. An unexpected visitor, stalking in the darkness ruins my plans and compromises my free movement. A cold subzero experience I don't want to repeat any time soon!
DIY Beer Can Trangia (Alcohol Stove with Beer Review)
Переглядів 3952 роки тому
The ultimate lightweight companion. I was looking to buy a Trangia, but was concerned about the weight of the brass ones. Searching around for a Titanium one on eBay and Amazon, I noticed a few that were based on soda cans. Searching UA-cam, I found it quite popular to make them yourself from cans. Not to just regurgitate what's already out there, this is a beer review / Trangia building exerci...
DD Frontline XL Hammock Mods
Переглядів 2,1 тис.2 роки тому
Following my previous video, where my hammock got a good battering from some heavy rain, I took the decision to upgrade the suspension straps on the hammock. Firstly, it creates a water break between the hammock and the tree harness. Secondly, the ladder straps are so much easier to set up and get the hammock at a suitable height, evenly set between the anchor points. Oh, and because bright lum...

Andes Ramada BIG Loader 120 Review
Переглядів 3,4 тис.3 роки тому
I'm trying to reboot my channel. Testing some camera equipment on a quick review for this Andes Ramada BIG Loader 120 bag, used during an overnight camping trip this weekend. A fair budget bag, at just £25, but is it really worth it?
could you go travelling with this bag, thinking of taking it on my working holiday to Australia?
well thanks for that LOL , as i feel ive been mugged off as well thinking the ruck sack will do the job ,WRONG , i have not used mine as yet im only getting my gear to put in it , its in my cupboard as i speak.the review is exactly as you say with the mesh and straps , 1 strap i got caught up and pulled it and it came off the back its only stitched in just over a 1/4 on an inch , so i struggled to stitch it back on with more inside , , mine cost around 30 pounds i got the camo version , if it cuts in to you and your big built well its gonna break me in two , but like you say i dont plan to walk with it far basically out of car and proberly at most 200 yards thanks buddy well said and good honest reveiw . ps subcribed as well
thats a good review. Not in bed with the manufacturer like most other reviewers
One thing i must give you, that chest strap does look too long to be any help really
What part of the country are you in? You look familiar. hopefully more videos to come!
The knot you used to create the loop of paracord is commonly known as a Fisherman’s Bend 👍🏻
Whinge Whinge Whinge I had to stop watching to much cry wen it only costs 30 quid pal
Best 30 quid I've ever spent.
@@Englishman_and_mountainsye for price can't go wrong
Yeah I thought he was being a bit overly critical of it as well, especially considering the price. Mine just got here today, it was 35 quid including delivery and it seems much better quality than I was expecting for the price, it's huge, looks cool too and you can fit a tube of Pringles or a 75cl bottle of Buckfast perfectly in each side pocket.
What would a good max load be to put it, the zippers, the stitches etc. to full test? cheers
FYI this video is trash, all he gave negative impacts about was the straps, and the zips... he didn't really give any proper feedback..
Great clear explanation! Thanks mister!
I've never heard someone winge so much about a cheap bag. I've gone one you throw on your back and get walking. Big enough for a 3 day wild camp trust me I've done it I had no problems. I can imagine this guy whingeing while he walks lol
Lol 😅
He's weighing out the positives and negatives. It's called a review, read the title.
I've heard that the reason why experienced hammockers like using something other than paracord as their continuous loops on their suspension, is that the cord stretches to a noticeable degree the first few times you use it. Which apparently means they get annoyed at having to adjust the rigging more often than they'd like. Have you noticed any stretching issues with this mod? Also, great video and tutorial.
I didn't notice any stretching. That might be what the doubling up on the cord buys me, as opposed to an increased load. Also the length of cord is short enough that there isn't a lot of room for it to stretch.
my name po-kum-yung, i make deez bag, what u expect for 25 dollar ? WHAT YOO EXPECT FWOM MEEEEEEEEEE!!!!
Hammocks are so great for camping, but that 3-4am period can be tricky 😛Great video, thanks for sharing, liked watching the set up. 🙂🇦🇺
Tough gig for your first recorded solo overnighter mate, but well done seeing it through. I bought a DD XL Hammock a few months ago and have been out a few times including a -3C a few days ago, great bit of gear but you're right about the straps, they need to go. Nice bit of woodland you found too, Cheers, keep it up 👍🏼🇦🇺
Thanks a lot! I was racking my brains trying to think where has -3 c this time of year! Then i saw your flag 😅 Good stuff. I have another video, replacing the straps. I need to get out again, but been really busy with work. Will make some time soon.
Thanks for tips. Sound is weird fyi.
I did a similar mod at my foot end but I soldered a hole through a stuffsack for the cord to pass through, knotted each side of the hole and used roofing sealant to really lock it down, another stuffsack at head end (but I kept the tape at that end) and my sleeping pod, hammock and tarp of the day all stuff in nicely and are well protected from any water. The sack also acts as a cinch for the footbox preventing draughts and the head end one is a handy store for phone, keys etc
You get what you pay for 😆
Great review. Thanks for being so thorough!
I recommend Whoopie Slings 👍

Good 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼❣.
Enjoyed my time with you there. It was indeed a nice route in and good to be joined by your mate. Ha ha, useful night vision if you were hunting for him. You just about managed to keep dry - good on the 3 pieces of string you had. Well, a pretty successful night out. Good going. All the best for 2022. Mark
Thanks Mark. Appreciate the comments. Happy new year!
@@iwonbigbro A pleasure.
hey do you think it would be good for a festival since its only a few days camping so woudnt be alot of stuff
Sure; since I'd imagine you wouldn't be carrying it the whole time. I only had issues loading it up and walking about 3km with it on my back.
