Hope on the pathway to net zero for buildings
Opening with setting stage on why buildings are important for addressing the climate change- citing some key stats and future projections. Then will introduce the two speakers with me on the stage- please send me short bios I can include in that.
To frame the conversation with a personal fireside chat touch I will ask first the speakers: 1) “What makes you personally excited about the role of buildings in the future planet, and can you please reflect on what brought you to this field?” I would anticipate short ~2 mins responses to this from each speaker.
Central question ~10 mins: here it would be great to dive into some concrete projects, especially those that give a solid basis for hope: 2) “From years of professional experience in this field, and being part of several defining projects for the sector- could you tell us a bit about a project that gives you hope and what specific conditions have enabled it’s success to this day?” - realising this might be an ongoing project.
Wrapping up ~7 mins: while the tone of the session is wrapped around hope I think we should also recognize there will be challenges on this way: 3) “What are the biggest challenges and key gaps that need to be closed in order to achieve net zero for buildings?” Please stick to your top 2 here.
Closing remarks ~3 mins

Geoengineering / weather warfare in our skies is doing far more damage than glyphosate. All a problem, but it would be wise to focus and spread more attention on geoengineering. Thank you
31:43 I've noticed that I get a creative thought boost during or after exercise.... I eat a meal, perhaps a bowl of oats with a mix of nuts, seeds, and fruit, and I let it digest for an hour or so. Then I go on a long, moderate intensity bike ride or run into the national park for an hour or so. By the time I get deep into the park, my brain is firing off ideas, including melodies, lyrics, video topics, jokes, or even just different angles to think about things. I often stop just to write stuff down. I have a feeling that the increased metabolism from the exercise is sending the afferent nerves into overdrive. I figure healthier food means more creativity, but I can't say for sure.
So mitochondria are water-cooled stars... Sort of.

When did ever green trees start growing from acorns?
Bless you for loving our mother earth.
The distance of each plant should be at least 5.0M. bcoz when it grows it will occupy a large space. Evergreen trees are good
It is part of a forest management program, where each tree cut down by the lumber industry is replaced by a new generation of trees that can be harvested in 35 to 50 years. ....and so on and so forth.
Hero 🎉
He works for the logging company stop cutting trees down and you won't have to replant
Amazing, well done, God bless you.
I've played pines too, this is soft and flat ground, in new Zealand millions are planted every year, my best was 1800 trees in a day but there are men who plant 3000+ they're masters at their trade and earn up to $450 per day
this guy planted 1,000 per hour for 24 hours straight
A real johnny appleseed i bet he sleeps 💤good at night a future elder with a blessing ❤for humanity
Ey just to let everyone know something they thought but may not believe Si read it then think about it in the Context what would you do about your creation if you were GOD ALMIGHTY you can plant all the trees in the world under the Sun but they will only combust and turn to ash until you restore the processional order of creation Hells fire will continue to consume the Land wherever there is human intentionally rebelling and living outside the Will of GOD that means No F'ing around look across the Globe before man decided he was going to alter the vessel they were assigned to at Birth man may have sinned but now Man has decided not only to play God but take the credit for Being you are a MAN or a Woman thats it there are no Gay men or women there are no such thing as trans Persons they are defined as abominations Outside the Will plan and Purpose of GOD and Creation God is scourging the Land in an effort to cleanse the land the pestilence is GOD the Weather is GOD the Sin is the Enemy and the Evil influence of Him When God says No its Most Definitely NO Sooner or later the nations will look like waste lands mark my word's in the last 9 months look how much has happened and seems only to be getting worse thats The Wrath of GOD Know Trust and Believe that PEACE
What's his name? I think he was on my boat here in México a few years ago. Amazing guy
But will ANY of these trees reach maturity before they are felled for FSC furniture?
@@bitTorrenter told an old Indian chubby they are cutting down the trees he said plant some more trees it's a new age
Has anyone checked the math on that? For that's roughly 1,000 trees per hour, or 15 trees per minute (100/6), or 1 tree every 4 seconds.
That’s one tree planted every 4 seconds for 24 hours continuously. What a guy
We are not in the environmental trouble we are because we use fossils fuels it’s because we Humans are destroying all the trees that without them the planet and us die, keep going great work, we all need to turn up a couple weekends or more each year and help him out.
*Some people don’t need gyms…🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲*
Amazing and enduring guy
Um, it's a job. He's replanting recently logged ground so that the next generation of trees can grow and be cut down for lumber or pulp or whatever. Lots of people do this same job. He's not saving the planet, he's part of industrial agriculture.
How long will it take for them to be big enough for lumber? The lumber companies don’t do this because they have a choice. They’re required to. They would definitely prefer to keep the money than plant trees that will take half a century to become a profitable harvest if they even survive. 🌲
🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 *_”Lumber companies were first widely required to plant trees after the passage of the "Forest Practice Act" in 1946, which mandated reforestation of logged lands in Washington state, forcing logging companies to replant trees after harvesting them to ensure future forest growth.”_* 🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲🌲 *_”Earlier attempts: While 1946 marked a significant turning point, there were earlier attempts in the 1930s to get logging companies to submit reforestation plans, but compliance was low.”_* ☝️
I planted trees for Forest Service and private contractors for several years. Nice to plant your own oxygen.
You'd get fired for planting like that where I come from it should be 2 cuts tramp and positive pull to straighten up the roots
Hes doing a great thing but when they plant these trees they are almost all in a straight line which is not the way nature does it and all the same thing evergreens thats also typically not the way nature does it and because of that theres not very much diversity in the wildlife that can live there and it can lead to diseases or pests to wipe out entire species it would be better if they mix in other native trees planting at random with all evergreens to encourage it to grow like the normal forest would so that nature could restore the correct balance of life pest and disease
@@Luke-fj3ih no
We have plenty of trees we need to restorw the plains and Savanahs
Thank you ❤
What would we do if we didn't have these young people to spend the long grueling hours to look after mother earth. It's definitely not for the money!
It's literally for the money. He's replanting logged areas for a paycheck. He's not healing the planet he's using it for agriculture.
its his JOB he replants trees for lumber companies
Tree farms are not forests ..but stops erosion..?
He's no Jonny appleseed .....just saying.....
@@LRMc-jn3pb johnny eucalyptus North California
It’s his job duh
He was a paid worker and this is forestry trees hes planting. Its basically a desert of pine trees almost nothing lives in these forrest farms.
Incorrect, trees planted in bc (where most of his career is) are planted with a specific diversity native to the area. With a density also specific to the area. The reason your seeing mostly pine and spruce is because that is what was there pre forestry. Tons of stuff lives in those blocks, and it isn't the 1990s anymore.
Dudes back will be in tatters in 6 months time
You need water when planting
The seedlings come in bags in the video which is watered before being planted. Hopefully, nature does the rest.
Inspirational, good on you and you're family. Hopefully in the future you can walk here with your children. And they can see what you've done. ❤
That would be very cool!
not an acorn in sight they are mainly pine no oak ??
They say one Acorn at a time and he's planting pine trees conifers that really makes a lot of sense
I came to say the same.
A mighty oak once a little seed that held its ground
It's an analogy.. can't fix stupid
@brucealmighty6442 no is is disinformation or you could call it a lie. Acorns do not sprout conifers. An analogy compares similar things it does not say an acorn sprouts conifers.
È quasi ora di educare paesi incivili a n9n buttare plastica nei fiumi o in giro!
See this is what we need, more fixing the problems and less complaints about it
The loggers thank you
