Hope on the pathway to net zero for buildings
Opening with setting stage on why buildings are important for addressing the climate change- citing some key stats and future projections. Then will introduce the two speakers with me on the stage- please send me short bios I can include in that.
To frame the conversation with a personal fireside chat touch I will ask first the speakers: 1) “What makes you personally excited about the role of buildings in the future planet, and can you please reflect on what brought you to this field?” I would anticipate short ~2 mins responses to this from each speaker.
Central question ~10 mins: here it would be great to dive into some concrete projects, especially those that give a solid basis for hope: 2) “From years of professional experience in this field, and being part of several defining projects for the sector- could you tell us a bit about a project that gives you hope and what specific conditions have enabled it’s success to this day?” - realising this might be an ongoing project.
Wrapping up ~7 mins: while the tone of the session is wrapped around hope I think we should also recognize there will be challenges on this way: 3) “What are the biggest challenges and key gaps that need to be closed in order to achieve net zero for buildings?” Please stick to your top 2 here.
Closing remarks ~3 mins

31:43 I've noticed that I get a creative thought boost during or after exercise.... I eat a meal, perhaps a bowl of oats with a mix of nuts, seeds, and fruit, and I let it digest for an hour or so. Then I go on a long, moderate intensity bike ride or run into the national park for an hour or so. By the time I get deep into the park, my brain is firing off ideas, including melodies, lyrics, video topics, jokes, or even just different angles to think about things. I often stop just to write stuff down. I have a feeling that the increased metabolism from the exercise is sending the afferent nerves into overdrive. I figure healthier food means more creativity, but I can't say for sure.

Ey just to let everyone know something they thought but may not believe Si read it then think about it in the Context what would you do about your creation if you were GOD ALMIGHTY you can plant all the trees in the world under the Sun but they will only combust and turn to ash until you restore the processional order of creation Hells fire will continue to consume the Land wherever there is human intentionally rebelling and living outside the Will of GOD that means No F'ing around look across the Globe before man decided he was going to alter the vessel they were assigned to at Birth man may have sinned but now Man has decided not only to play God but take the credit for Being you are a MAN or a Woman thats it there are no Gay men or women there are no such thing as trans Persons they are defined as abominations Outside the Will plan and Purpose of GOD and Creation God is scourging the Land in an effort to cleanse the land the pestilence is GOD the Weather is GOD the Sin is the Enemy and the Evil influence of Him When God says No its Most Definitely NO Sooner or later the nations will look like waste lands mark my word's in the last 9 months look how much has happened and seems only to be getting worse thats The Wrath of GOD Know Trust and Believe that PEACE

How long will it take for them to be big enough for lumber? The lumber companies don’t do this because they have a choice. They’re required to. They would definitely prefer to keep the money than plant trees that will take half a century to become a profitable harvest if they even survive. 🌲

Hes doing a great thing but when they plant these trees they are almost all in a straight line which is not the way nature does it and all the same thing evergreens thats also typically not the way nature does it and because of that theres not very much diversity in the wildlife that can live there and it can lead to diseases or pests to wipe out entire species it would be better if they mix in other native trees planting at random with all evergreens to encourage it to grow like the normal forest would so that nature could restore the correct balance of life pest and disease

Incorrect, trees planted in bc (where most of his career is) are planted with a specific diversity native to the area. With a density also specific to the area. The reason your seeing mostly pine and spruce is because that is what was there pre forestry. Tons of stuff lives in those blocks, and it isn't the 1990s anymore.
