Great hair and great info!
I had such a bad saw fly larvae infestation that it killed one of my roses.. I had huge fragrant pink rambling rose 2m high 6m wide across three fence panels. It had been in my garden before I moved in 15 years earlier. The larvae have killed it in two years. Everywhere you look articles say the larvae won't kill your roses. They will if there are enough of them.

I have root aphids in my Douglas Fir tree seedlings. The seedlings are 16-24 inches tall and have been in the ground for 1-2 years. What are your suggestions for doing a soil drench?

@@arjh1017 From what we carry, we'd suggest Arena as a soil injection (you will need to get material where the aphids are). We'd apply it with quite a bit of carrier volume too to help disperse material. Both imidacloprid and clothianidin are systemics with aphids on the label. Clothianidin (Arena) is more water-soluble than imidacloprid, which we think would be a benefit for root aphids on mature trees in clay soil. You will also need to make a lot of holes in the ground versus applying just around the base of the tree to aid in dispersal of the active ingredient. Typically root aphid populations aren't large enough to cause damage on mature trees. Unless you are experiencing stunting of trees, you might not need to treat. Systemics mixed with bifenthrin could also help control the ants that are tending the aphids making them more likely to predation from other insects

Hello! If you have turf that has been decimated by armyworms, it should recover even if you don’t treat it. Armyworms are strictly feeding on the foliage. They’re not damaging the crown, they’re not feeding on the roots. Basically, what you need to do is get down a little fertilizer or anything that you can do to encourage the regrowth of that plant and get your grass blades back up. It should survive, though. The armyworm eventually will turn into a moth.
I've been working on a black medic and white clover infestation in my lawn. I've pulled over 100 black medic roots . They go over a foot deep at times !

Hi Chrystal! Thanks for reaching out to us! To treat the plant, you would need to make a couple of fungicide apps. You can stop the spread now (if it’s still active), but preventative applications earlier in May would be best. Powdery mildew on ninebark can cause stunting and tip dieback, but most likely isn’t lethal. Several products are labeled to treat the issue, including Eagle and Armada.

Hello! Granular options would be a fertilizer with Imida-Lamda or Aloft G. Liquid options would be FMC's Triple Crown or you can mix imidacloprid and bifenthrin. Make applications spring and fall. Always read the label for complete details.
