"Symphony of Speed" - CRSCCA AUTOCROSS
Do you have the link I can’t find it anywhere under 100 at least 😭
Just get rid of your sway bars at that point, they aren't doing you any good lol
My front sway bar has been gone for quite some time. 😄
Those poor control arms and axles.
They're on the edge, of gloryyy
You put a lift kit on the lift kit????
I sure did! ⏫️
Ditch the spacers….
No. 😆
The end of the video is TOO REAL. Thank you so much for this video, will be doing the seal installation once the expensive part comes in! I don't think these cars will ever be waterproof... lol.
Happy to help! On the waterproof note, sadly, I think you're right. 😅
was there no need for sub frame spacers?
I already had rear subframe spacers on it, but I could use some front subframe spacers 😅
How do you like the Flatout Coilovers long term?
They seem to be holding up fine. No leaks or clunks to report.
@natewilliams854 awesome! You should make some more trail videos throughout the region. I'm from Michigan and dying to move down to Knoxville area for good paved roads as well as access to all the forest roads.
Checkout my IG if you haven't already, I'm more likely to post a clip or photos of local trails there.
Damn that thing is sky high! I will be lifting my 2011 sti sedan one inch with a set of cygnus performance long travel coilovers. They allow me to go one inch above stock ride height to 1 inch below stock ride height. I dont think I will bother going to the low end because it will still handle better than factory at one inch above. I need the clearance for winter and forest roads. Will also be running high Castor camber plates up front and adjustable rear LCAs in the rear. 8k swift springs. I cant wait until they are finished being built!
Sounds like you have quite a fun build in the works!
Those little tabs are a bitch huh!!
It helps to use the right tool for the job. Good video!
Accurate 👆. Thanks!
just letting you know man this video is insanely helpful
Glad to hear it. Thanks for the comment 👍🏾
Nice, video! thanks. Noted you are completely missing the rear window roller. I bet rolling the window up/down is realy hard
Greatly appreciated! And you got it 👍🏾. Yes, I've since installed some new bits lol.
what bumper is that bro, build goes hard af btw!
It's a one-off custom bumper, and big preesh! 🤙🏾
Flatout suspension said dont run spacers taller than a inch. Seems like your gonna chew up a crap load of cv axles
I lifted an STI. Obviously, I'm bad at following the "rules" 😂 But in all seriousness, almost a year and a half on this setup and my CVs are still fine.
Thanks SO much for this video! EXCELLENT!! The piece that guides the window going up and down, that goes into the door, the first one you replaced, is that separate? I only need to replace that one piece. Fortunately, the seals on my car are holding up well. Let me know if you can. Thanks again!!!
Happy to help! The seal that follows the window track down into the door is part of one very long seal that wraps up and around the front, bottom, and rear of the door.
@@natewilliams854 Ahhh, Okay! Thanks for that! I thought it was a separate piece.
No worries! It is a large and pricy seal, replacing it is a necessary evil lol.
@@natewilliams854 How much is that? $300ish?
Around $160 if I'm not mistaken
Have you had any issues with cv axle angle since adjusting?? I just ordered my gr lites, might just roll with those for a vit first before doing the top hat spacers too. But wanted to see how its holding up after time
I blew a front CV boot, but that was a few thousand miles ago. Other than that, no issues at all. (Note, don't get GSP axles as replacements if you blow a boot. They appreciate the angle less than OEM CVs 😅)
@@natewilliams854 haha right on. Just moved out to Colorado and the dips in roads and steep curbs are getting me bad. So figured it was the perfect time for it. Thanks for the info! Gonna check out some more of your videos on the build
For sure! Great part of the country for trails as well from what I've seen. Feel free to reach out here or via IG if you have any other questions during the process. Good luck 🤙🏾
Just got these coilovers for my crosstrek and this video is going to help so much. Thanks guys
Happy to help! Best of luck on your install 🤙🏾
I just added these to my '20 F54 Mini (Clubman). Unfortunately the install seems to have gone wrong as the front produces a nasty, metal-a-metal clang when any abrupt bump is hit--not necessarily a deep one, but something like a typical pothole or storm drain (again, not especially deep ones). But I love driving up to parking blocks with confidence, and can't wait to try out the All4 in snow ... especially with the added 2" diameter on the tires that now fit comfortably underneath. Re: Airplane ref at 10:00, Roger, Roger.
While I'm not familiar with Mini suspension, I was experiencing a jarring bang when going over abrupt bumps after initial install. Turned out to be the front springs bottoming out before full shock travel (spring rate was too soft). The remedy was taller stiffer front springs. If you have an action camera, you may be able to rig it up in the wheel well behind the tire to help diagnose the root cause. Larger tires for the win! You're the first to comment on the Airplane reference 😄. Couldn't help myself.
How are the struts holding up?
Great! No issues to report so far
Damn only 832 views 😭Great video, good camera setup and quality, a d great driving!
I guess it's a niche audience 😂. Greatly appreciated! Great day 🤙🏾
This is criminally underviewed. There are VERY FEW lifted WRX STI's out there. Even fewer actually willing to take on rugged terrain. Your videos one of the few that had me instantly subscribe simply because the content you're producing and build you're working on is so rare. And you're documenting the unique challenges for such an uncommon build route is going to be immensely helpful for others thinking of going the same route. I used to dream of getting a WRX STI and lifting it. But as I grew older, priorities changed and I figured out the Outback wagon matches my goals more than a WRX STI. So seeing this is like witnessing that concept I gave up on coming to life. I subscribed to your YT channel and gave your IG a follow, I need to see more.
I appreciate the support! The capabilities of this build far exceeded my expectations in every way. Through this build process, I have had to solve for so many unforseen obstacles that there is no reference material for online, but that's part of the enjoyment. I'm glad my vision resonates with others and that they enjoy watching as much as I enjoy building and driving.
How is the Flatout coilovers working out?
They're working and performing great! On and off road 🤙🏾
@@natewilliams854 Good to hear. Should be getting mine in a few weeks.
Awesome, good luck with the install!
Planning on going through some bumpy and rocky roads that are also uphill. Think an 06 sti can handle it?
Depends on the road/trail. Even if it's all stock, as long as you pick a good line around big rocks and watch your approach angle, you should be alright 👍🏾
Dude this thing is so sick! Subscribed asf.
Thanks! And I appreciate the support 🤙🏾
❤
What’s the link? What is the name for the window check that goes into the door
I don't have the link, but check out Moss Miata's website and search "door seal". That should bring up what you're looking for.
@@natewilliams854 thanks I found it and saving the video to because Ik I’ll need it 🙏🏽
You got it, best of luck on the install 🤙🏾
Why?
Because I can. 🤣
Lol you tryna trigger people Buy a $286 blingy hook and then mar the crap out of it before its even on the vehicle.
That was the goal! Did I succeed? 🤣
@natewilliams854 I kinda figured 😆 🤣 got a sub from me
😆 let's gooo 🤙🏾
Awesome edits man, synced up so well!
Big preesh! Hours well spent.
Good stuff! Looks like a great time.
Great times with great people! Coming out the other side without any new damage was just a bonus. 😄
Клевая движуха!!!
Thanks! Glad you enjoyed the adventure!
Where is this?
Cohutta/Big Frog Wilderness.
Hey man! Question for ya. I got a 12 wrx on forester suspension, and my wheels are positive camber like crazy lol. Did u do a subframe spacer kit or get different lower control arms? Im glad it aint just me doing this lmao. Subbing for sure!
Hey! To combat positive camber, I'm just running the Flatout coilovers with camber plates upfront. Rear, I have subframe spacers + adjustable lower control arms. Try the most aggressive camber bolts you can get up front. If that doesn't cut it, try adjustable lower control arms. You're not alone lol 🤙🏾
Console cubby box, arm pad. Mine was trashed too. Why? Sweat. The same for leather seats that are cracked, chipped and flaking falling off. I seal mine with shoe polish and if I've sweated on the leather (pad or seats), wipe it down with water and a rag. Sweat kills leather.
I had a 2008 STI and I wanted to lift it but 15yrs ago nothing existed for it. The tuner shop that did the tune in my car offered to build me a rally suspension but at 28 I didn’t have the money to do it. Very cool that now there’s several options to make your own rally car! Looks great!
The aftermarket has grown so much in the last decade and a half to be sure. I'm very glad there are a few parts out there for a rally or off-road build now. I appreciate it! Still blazing a trail with an off-road build like this (pun intended 😅).
The squatted subaru sti comment was absolute gold! Great video, cant wait to see the finished product
Cracked myself up with that one. 😂 appreciate it. Will it ever truly be finished is the question.
I run full mud-terrain tyres on my Subie and I surprise many people with how well she sticks around corners on the blacktop. EDIT: Man I was smiling for this entire video. Really enjoyed watching someone using their Subie for (one of) its intended uses :D Subbed!
Right on! Big preesh! And glad you enjoyed all of the sliding, I was having too much fun. 😄
What year model is your STI? Have you done anything to the driveline? I have a 2002 Forester with Torsen LSDs front and rear and a beefed up centre diff (120 Newtons).
It's a 2012. I haven't done anything but replace front CVs once lol. Thing is pretty beefy out of the box. Your fozzy sounds like a sweet recipe!
I wish I could find a review of Flatout suspension when they're being driven at high speed on rough roads. Rally conditions, basically.
I've hooned these on some off-road trails and gravel roads (~40-50mph or so) and they soaked up everything very nicely! Hope this helps. 🤙🏾
@@natewilliams854 Thank you! Yes, that's exactly what I was hoping to hear. I've heard criticism that they're "loud". I don't really know what that means in terms of suspension noise, but if you didn't notice anything out of the ordinary then that gives me confidence enough to at least give them a go.
You got it! Coming from the King springs on OEM struts, these made a world of difference comfort wise. Just be sure to get your spring length and rates right and you'll be good. The guys over at Flatout can help you figure out what you need in that department.
Oh this is what color I wanted to do my gc what did you do for the 2 tone?
The lower black is a LOT of plasti dip
Is the piping you used for the front bump custom? I really want to do something like that to mine. Dope video btw my guy 🤙🏻
Bumper**
Yes, the front bumper is completely custom. I commissioned a local fab shop to build it for me. I think it turned out pretty nice 😄. Much appreciated my dude 🤙🏾
Dude I love it! It's so clean. Definitely plan on doing something similar. Appreciate you replying. Gotta go talk to a fab shop now 😂🤙🏻
Big preesh! The clearance is well worth the sacrifice to fuel economy (smiles per gallon right? 😄). No problem, best of luck on your build and feel free to follow me in IG so I can follow your progress. Happy to relay any other knowledge I've gained along the way to help out. 🤙🏾
Just followed 💝
Good job! 🥶
Big preesh! 🤙🏾
Worst coilovers on the market. No service no warranty whatsoever. Got a set for my 17 outback and they are good for garbage. Crappy company
Weird. Mine have been great lol
Why what happened? Thinking of buying a pair for my id4
I’m about to buy too but I’m wanting to understand the preload concept…
Whats your wheel and tire specs?
Wheel - 16x7 +15 Tire - 215/65r16
@@natewilliams854 I'm building a 22 WRX and was thinking of running 225/55r17 on a 2" lift. Getting some good info off your channel. Thanks man
Right on, happy to help. I'd recommend getting as much sidewall as you can (smallest wheel, tallest tire) if you're going to want to air down for off road comfort and grip. Best of luck on your build 🤙🏾
Do you have a rear locker in that?
Nope, just the OEM LSD. It does the job 👍🏾
Hey Nate question if I buy coilovers how difficult is it to set them to 2 inches and would it be safe to run a 2 inch ADF lift on top of them it'd be going on a 2014 2.5i SJ forester
Hey, I wouldn't say it's very difficult to set ride hight +2 inches, it does take a lot of patience and measuring. Just go into it knowing you're going to have to lift/jack up, remove wheels, measure, adjust, measure, reinstall wheels, set it down, measure, and repeat a few times. I've been running ADF spacers on the coilovers for over a year with no issues. I believe Flatout Suspension offers more coilover options for Foresters. I'd recommend taking a look at their website and see what product will fit your needs. If all else fails, give them a shout, they'll be able to provide some additional guidance.
My talented grandson.❤
Stay safe, my dear grandson❤
Always 😊
I have been wondering if your able to run the GR light coilovers with 2" spacers or if the coilovers themselves are supposed to give you 2" lift when wanting to lift your Subaru. That set up looks killer 👌
Yes, these coilovers are capable of more than 2" of lift themselves. Glad this video cleared up the question for you! Much appreciated 🤙🏾
