Welcome to the Learning English with Oxford UA-cam channel.
If you’re learning English, you’re in the right place to access the latest language learning videos from the world’s largest University Press!
Learning English is tough. There’s nowhere to hide when you’re learning a language. But we keep trying.
Each mistake crossed out and corrected is one less next time. Each word mispronounced is one remembered in future. Each conversation that gets lost somewhere in the middle will take the right path when we come across it again.
And why? Because when you make yourself understood, when the words fall into place, when you’re part of the conversation, the moment is magic. You’ve made it. And the next step is yours to take.
Learning English with Oxford provides reliable resources to help you improve your skills, boost your confidence, and achieve your language goals! Subscribe to our channel to receive updates on all our latest videos.

Wonderful video, thanks a lot!
Glad you liked it!
Is Leicester = Le - ice - ster, with the cut off of "ice"? Or is it "Lei-ce-ster"?
Leicester has two syllables, with the stress on the first one: LES-ter. It has just 5 phonemes or individual sounds. Here's the phonetic script /ˈlestə(r)/. Hope this helps!🙂
@@jdenglishpronunciation Thank You very much indeed
@@rocconuzzo321 You're welcome! Let us know if there are other place names you'd like us to cover in these videos🙂
@@jdenglishpronunciation In my humble opinion, the problem is that many cities and places have held their own names throughout the centuries, even after the Great Vowel Shift. As for example, Greenwich, and I suppose Worchester. But it's my opinion, and I am just an Italian native speaking guy who has been learning English for some years.
@@rocconuzzo321 Greenwich (pronounced GREN-ich) and Worcester (WOOS-ter, with the first vowel rhyming with the vowel in 'foot') are two more great examples of place names which are difficult to pronounce! Look out for Worcester being covered in a video on this channel soon... 💬✅
The best professor I’ve ever had ✨💯👏 📘📒📗📙📕📝✨👌
