I would say 1 or 2 should do it, but since it's a basement I would use more if possible,. I would use 1 per room and just keep it out of sight. It can't hurt. if there is minimal moisture it will last a long time. If there is a lot of moisture its going its job :)

You had to be stirring in intervals. No way you dump egg into a bowl and it comes out in a lump like that, it would come out like a hockey puck even if pre-scrambled.
I put the egg in a bowl, add salt and pepper and then mix with a milk brother. 60 seconds in the silicone egg cooker and it's done. For 2 eggs I cook it for 1 min 30 secs.

About every 2 months. Most recommend 130 miles or 3 months. Id rather be on the safer side and do it more often. It's easier to lubricate it then get the motor changed out.
