Data Science Speaker Series: Here Be Dragons: The Challenges of Pursuing Responsible AI
Переглядів 2714 днів тому
Over the last decade, a range of practices have emerged as scholars, practitioners, and regulators attempt to ensure that AI investments don't go off the rails. Practices like red-teaming marry earlier approaches to content moderation and security, but others are being developed specifically for the Generative AI space. Many of these fit under the broader rubric of "responsible AI." How sociote...

Hutcherson & Muñiz - A Critical Policy Analysis of the McNair Program
Переглядів 103Місяць тому
Educational policies designed to benefit students from first-generation, low-income, and racially minoritized backgrounds do not always consider the realities these students experience during college. Instead, students participating in compensatory education programs can endure further marginalization. Using critical policy analysis’ core tenets as guiding principles, we conducted a three-phase...

I deeply appreciate this conversation and posting it for all to benefit from. Having suffered greatly from systemic racism I’ve found myself feeling rather isolated especially as I seek out content for support but finding content which has few views and engagement. I’m currently listening to the conversation and I hope will shed some light on how one finds energy to keep going in a system that is setup to oppress.
❤
Much gratitude all for your sharing.
I was able to take "Democratic Political Thought" with Prof. Boros -- 10 or more years ago. She's an amazing instructor and mentor. We dealt with Hobbes, Locke, Rousseau, and others. It was discussion format and I've never felt such an obligation to read the materials. Dr. Boros prepared me better for the real world than any professor in law school.

There was a young monk that said though,It seems that I know what I know. What I'd like to see,is the I that sees me,when I know that I know that I know.
there used to be a video on youtube of a talk simon gave called 'suicide - a defense'. but it looks like it's been removed. if UA-cam removed it for 'promoting harmful content' then that is highly disappointing. it was a great talk.
I'm here looking for the exact same video. Sad it seems like it was taken down. If you find anywhere it's available to watch would appreciate you letting me know haha
I've been looking for it.
I'd also love to see this video, can't find it either.
It's not removed, it's just unlisted, I have the link in a playlist

Excellent lecture/seminar.
Important and well done. Thank you very much ❤️
The Earth is cooler with the atmos/GHGs/albedo not warmer. To perform as advertised the GHGs require “extra” energy upwelling from the surface radiating as a black body. (ua-cam.com/video/0Jijw7-YG-U/v-deo.html) The kinetic heat transfer processes of the contiguous atmos molecules render that scenario impossible. No greenhouse effect, no GHG warming, no man/CO2 driven climate change or Gorebal warming. Version 1.0 050322

bruh you ruined my life
Thank you, David, Mookie, the Psych and The Other team, and especially Homi Bhabha for one of the most helpful and painful discussions of racism that I've heard/read. Bhabha's distinction between systemic racism and traumatic racism, and his emphasis on temporality, brings me closer to the experience of BIPOC and reminds me that we have so much work to do to heal the moral and mortal injuries we white folks have inflicted and continue to inflict.
Too long winded.
I can call UAPs. Proof on my channel
Lisa Goodman is amazing!! One of my favorite researchers, and people!
I disagree with Simon so heavily on almost every chapter of this book.. but either way.. he is a pleasure to read. A beautiful writing.
I am curious with what you disagree with and your justification? I have been doing tons of research on this book and I’d love to hear your perspective!😊
Wish the video showed women and people of color as student teachers.
Thank you, Dean Wortham for such an inspiring message to LSEHD’s Class of 2020! And a warm congratulations also to the full ‘Class of 2020’ from the LSEHD Undergraduate Dean’s Office. Looking forward to seeing you all next fall at the celebration! Very fondly, Undergraduate Dean Julia DeVoy, Maureen Raymond, and Jill Pickener.
Thanks, Martin! Your work is so connected. Inspiring to think about how BC can support the field at this particular moment--I wonder how to ask our partners what they need right now and how we can leverage research and the university to help them.
Muito mais que um rostinho bonito! This is brilliant! What an important and sensitive work you do! Thank you for this!
I’m trying to figure out how am I going to continue my research in the prison system during this epidemic crisis. I’m pursuing my Master’s in Brasil and trying to figure out how the educational perspective can be used when defining a purpose (or life project in Brasil). To do that, I was going to interview some young man incarcerated to determine whether having an access to school while serving they time can help then to find a purpose for the after prison life . I love your videos!
Brilliant! 👏🏻
she’s so smart
