I will say that just by looking a this character's design there are no hints that he has hair or being a barber as a his theme. Other than having scissors on his back and leg both of which are very hard to even notice. I would call this a failure on the character design. You could have brought out more barber shop themes in his clothes like evoking the idea of a barber's pole on one of his legs, you could have given him a hair style that requires a lot of maintenance, his color scheme could have been red white and blue (with a small amount of silver or gold). Barber shop culture specifically black barber shop culture has plenty of media to pull from, and gain insight on how to bring that out in a character. There is no evocation of the character's identity here. It seems you have the idea, but not the experience/talent to execute it. I do commend your efforts and this is purely meant to be constructive. I would highly advise making some adjustments to this character's look so it can be more vibrant, appealing and memorable.
