In the New Testament we can read about the nine commandments out of the Ten Commandments which are mentioned in the Old Testament. We can find in New Testament teaching about the nine commandments and how will a person be a sinner if he is not following it. But we can’t read anything about Sabbath, not even one apostle spoke about that. Old Testament verse New Testament verse *Do not worship idols Exodus 20:1-4 I Cor. 6:9; I John 5:21 * Do not take the name of God in vain (20:7) Jude 8; Rom. 2:24 * Remember the Sabbath day to keep it holy (20:8) ______________ * Honour your father and mother (20:12) Eph. 6:1-3; Col. 3:20 * Do not commit murder (20:13) James 2:11 * Do not commit adultery (20:14) I Cor. 6:9; James 2:11 * Do not steal (20:15) *Do not bear false witness (20:16) I Peter 3:10 *Do not covet your neighbor’s house (20:17) I Tim. 6:9,10 For the fourth commandment which is on Sabbath there is no verse which explains the Sabbath in New Testament. St. Paul spoke regarding ‘day’ which we can find in Romans 14:5-7(insert full verse), but he did not say anything regarding Sabbath why because it is not for Christians. The Law which are said in the Old Testament for the Jewish people to observe/follow like circumcision, feast, sacrifice, offering, tabernacle and its ministries, melchizedek, curtains, lamp, bread, tithe and about many things explanation is given by the Apostles in the New Testament but why they did not mention about Sabbath. Jesus did not say anything regarding Sabbath so the disciples also did not teach anything regarding Sabbath. Seventh day people will invite Christians saying we are having 40 days Bible study those who come for 40 days will be given free Bible. Many Christians expecting free Bible will go. SDA will start from fulfillment of prophecies which are mentioned in the Bible. And thereby SDA will bring them to a stage of nodding their head in acceptance, at that point SDA will ask about first day of the week and last day of the week. When the answer comes as Saturday from the audience they will catch that and they will show verses from OT which supports Sabbath and SDA will speak as if they have discovered some new truth in the Bible saying Saturday should only be the Sabbath day. We all know that 7th day of the week is Saturday, no doubt in that but it is given for the Jewish people. We Christians are not Jewish. Be it Jew, Greek, or Gentile we all have become New creation through Jesus Christ. Many Christians are deceived by the materials benefits from SDA. SDA’s promise like medical benefit, loan, education in abroad etc. Christians usually think that SDA are also Christians (denomination) so they will change denomination for these benefit and fall into the trap of deceived doctrines and teaching. SDA is not a Christian denomination as such it is a cult. In the NT in many places we read about sin-list. But not even in one place we can see that non-observance of Sabbath is sin. *Mark 7:20-23-13 things which defiles man’s heart is mentioned but not about non-observance of Sabbath as sin. * Romans 1:29-32 (23 sins) *Galatians 5:19-21 (17 sins) * Ephesians 5:3-7 (sins which will prevent us from entering the kingdom of God.) * II Timothy 3:1-5 End times dreadful sin. * Revelation 21:8 (8sins) * Revelation 22:15 in the outsiders list also people who are not observing Sabbath is not mentioned. Seventh day as Sabbath is given for the Israel people, because they were delivered by God from their Egyptian bondage of slavery. Deuteronomy 5:14-15; Exodus 20:9-10. We were not slave in Egypt but we are salve under the bondage of sin. When we were under the bondage of sin as salves, Christ’ atonement saved us and delivered us from the bondage. Old things have passed away and now everything is new. Now let us see about the commandments and its meaning by Jesus Christ and His apostles. Which is the great commandment of the Law? Jesus Christ replied: Matt. 22:35-40 Mark 12:28-34 John 13;34,35; 15:9-10; 12:14 Theme of the commandment-Love St. Paul said: I Timothy 1:5-11 Romans 13:10 Galatians 5:14 I Corinthians 13:13 St. Peter said I Peter 1:22; 2:17; 4:8 St. John I John 3:11; 4:8,16 St. James James 1:12; 2:5,8 St. Jude Jude 20:21 Through the above verses we can understand that Love is the total sum of the ten commandment and then because Gods love is poured in our heart (Romans 5:5) the commandment is fulfilled on us and we don’t need Law. Jesus followed God the Father’s commandment in the same way those who follow Jesus has to follow Jesus’ commandment. Now let us see about the commandments and its meaning by Jesus Christ and His apostles. To those who claim Seventh day as Sabbath, do they know fully about the Sabbath and its observance? Are they willing to do so? Seventh day is Sabbath, Seven weeks after that (7x7=49) 50th day (Pentecost day) is Seventh Sabbath. Then after the end of the six years 7th year (entire year) Sabbath year. Then after that 7x7=49 years, 50th year is Jubilee year and it goes on more. A Jew who observes Sabbath has to observe all the observances related with Sabbath if not then, he is to be stoned to death. So called seventh day believers are they ready to observe all these? Then there are many Do’s and Don’t related to Sabbath. Let us see then. Do’s- *On Sabbath 12 cakes has to be baked and kept on the table in two rows (Levi. 24:5-8). *Burnt offering to be presented on every Sabbath (Num. 28:10; II Chron. 8:13; 31;3). *They did circumcision on Sabbath (John 7:22,23). *Books of Moses/Law of Moses to be read in the synagogue in Sabbath day Don’t- *Not to gather stick/wood (Num. 1532-36) *“Ye shall kindle no fire throughout your habitations upon the sabbath day.”Exodus 35:3. Nowadays instead of firewood, Gas stove, Electric stove, induction stove is used even that should not be used in Sabbath. Saying that one cant go and have food in hotel rather one have to prepare the food the previous day. No cooking on Sabbath. *Not to speak own words/things (Isa. 58:13) *No work should be done or carried out, if done that person should be killed (Exo. 31:12-16) *No sowing of seed nor harvest (Exo. 34:21) *No burden to be carried inside house or taken out from the house (Jeremiah 17:20,23; Neh. 13:19,20). *On Sabbath no one should travel or walk (its Jewish law that one should not walk more than one Kilometer) Acts 1:12 Those who argue supporting seventh day, are they ready to observe all the above? And what needs to be done and not to be done during Sabbatical year and do’s and don’ts of Jubilee year is also mentioned in Exodus 21 and Leviticus 25. Why God has said about observance of Sabbath to Israel people alone? Because in Palestine region Israel people is one community, from one descendent, one God, one Holy Scripture, one rule under religious law. So for them to observe the Sabbath on seventh day is not a problem because it is instructed by God to be followed by everyone. And then the King and the people and ones of mind in their religious observance permits them without any difficulty. But Christianity is not like Judaism, Christianity shared the Good news among gentiles and making them a new creation, Christians are converted from various religious and other background like Buddhism, Jainism, Sikhism, Hinduism, Islam, Tribal, atheist etc. Christians live among different religious/faith people. Seventh day people are they not going to their respective job/work on that day? Are they not cooking? Are they not travelling? Will they be silent if their house is on fire on the seventh day? Jesus and the Apostles did not teach about the Sabbath and they did not opposed the Sabbath also, because for them it is not of Christ. Even we can’t see in any place where the NT/early Christians observed the Sabbath. Let us see what NT says about Law, Ten Commandment and Sabbath. *For our forefathers and us it is a yoke that we cant bear (Acts 15:5-10) *Commandment brought death (Rom. 7:9-10) *For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse (Galatians 3:9-10) *But that no is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident (Galatians 3:11) *“Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace”(Gal. 5:4) *”Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified.”Galatians 2:16. (Rom. 3:20) *For Christ is the end of the law for righteousness to every one that believeth. (Rom. 10:3-4). *Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage. Gal. 5:1 Further also meditate on Romans 13:8-10; 9:30-32; 10:3-4; Galatians 3:13; Deuteronomy 21:33; Acts 15:24; Galatians 3:1-7; 3:23-25; Colossians 2:8. * “Knowing this, that the law is not made for a righteous man, but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and for sinners, for unholy and profane, for murderers of fathers and murderers of mothers, for manslayers, For whoremongers, for them that defile themselves with mankind, for menstealers, for liars, for perjured persons, and if there be any other thing that is contrary to sound doctrine; According to the glorious gospel of the blessed God, which was committed to my trust.” I Timothy 1:9-11 (I Tim. 1:711). Therefore Law which includes the teaching on Sabbath (Exo. 20:8-11; Deut. 5:15; Exo. 31:12-18; Eze. 20:12-13) is not for the New Testament time Christians which is evident from the Epistle of St. Paul to Timothy. Jeremiah 31:31 full verse this was mentioned by God we can see that through prophets like Jeremiah (Jeremiah 31:31-34; Ezekiel 11:19-20; 36: 26,27). Full verse Hebrew 8:7 full verse Hebrew 9:10 Jesus Christ gave Himself once for all and through His own blood He has become the mediator between God and man, He is the mediator for the New Covenant. We can read about that in Hebrews chapter 8 and 9. (Heb. 8:7-13; 9:1-8; 9:9-15). Jesus did not preach or teach about Sabbath to any one. Because it is not the teaching to be followed by Christians but it is for the Jews. The religion of Chirst followers -Christianity is different. What the Jewsish-Judaism could not do, Jesus did on the cross and said follow me. To the one who came and ask Him what shall I do to inherit eternal life? Jesus asked him to keep the commandments and when he asked Him which commandment? Jesus replied Do not commit adultery, do not murder, do not steel, do not bear false witness, honour your father and mother. Love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus did not say anything regarding Sabbath. (Matthew 19:16-24; Mark 10:17-27; Luke 18:18-27) Jesus was criticized by the Jewish Pharisees *when Jesus’ disciples pluck the head of grains and eat on the Sabbath (Matt. 12:1-8) *for healing a man who had a withered hand (Matt. 12:9-14; Mark 3:1-6; Luke 6:6-14) *for healing the women who was bent over and could in no way raise herself up Luke 13:10-17 *for healing a man who has dropsy (Luke 14:1-6) *for curing a man who is blind from birth (John 9:1-16) What is more interesting is Jesus won out all the accusations. Because Christ is the Lord for Sabbath. And Jesus’ disciples are not under the law of Sabbath. In Acts chapter 2 on the day of Pentecost when they were all full filed with Holy Spirit after hearing the preaching of Peter. They were cut to heart and asked peter and the other apostles, what they should do? Then Peter said about repentance, baptism, Holy Spirit, separation or distances themselves from perverse generation, fellowship breaking of break and prayer only, Peter did not teach anything regarding Sabbath

Questions asked generally by SDA with adequate answers. Qtn. 1. Jesus observed the Sabbath; He did not change the Sabbath day which is Saturday. We also have to do so know? Answer a. Jesus was circumcised on the 8th day are we doing so. b. Jesus observed the Passover feast are we doing so. Qtn. 2. Apostles went to the Synagogue on Saturday; we also have to do so know? Answer: Apostles went to the synagogue not to worship God but to share the Gospel for the Jewish who gather there. Qtn. 3. Jesus said in Matthew 24:30 (insert full verse) “And pray…….on the Sabbath” Answer: How in winter it will be difficult to run, it will be the same in Sabbath. Even if you run you can’t run for more than one kilometer (which is a rule on Sabbath not to walk more than one kilometer) so only Jesus said so. Qtn. 4: According to Exodus 31:16 Sabbath is a perpetual covenant know? Answer: Along with Sabbath many other things are also instructed as perpetual covenant. Many purification and duties (Numbers 19:21,22), Meat offering (Eze. 46:14), Bread offering (Lev. 24:8,9), David’s Kingdom (II Sam. 23:5, Isa. 55:3), circumcision (Gen. 17:13), Aaron’s priest hood (Exo. 40:13-15), Phinehas priesthood (Num. 25:13). Things which are mentioned above are active till the time of reformation (Heb. 9:9-10), these things are like shadow, but Jesus Christ is real substance. When the real one appear the shadow will go out of existence. Meditate on Col. 2:16-17. Qtn 5. According to Isaiah 66:22-23 we are going to worship in heaven on Sabbath? Answer: from the moment when Jesus said “finished” and claimed victory over sin the Law and the commandments ended there and the grace period started. Since Jesus is raised from death on the first day of the week, worshipping the living God who rose up from death became practice after that. The Church saved by the blood of Christ does not need follow the commandment and law which is old. It is already over from the time of Moses till Jesus on the cross, seventh day is the Sabbath. After Jesus Christ’ resurrection the day Christ rose from death is used for worship. Isa. 65:17; Rev. 21:1-7; I Peter 3:13-14. Now let us see about 8th day as worship day. Seven days ye shall offer an offering made by fire unto the LORD: on the eighth day shall be an holy convocation unto you…………………………………… ye shall keep a feast unto the LORD seven days: on the first day shall be a sabbath, and on the eighth day shall be a sabbath. (Insert full verse Leviticus 25:36,39) What is the secret in the above verse? No one has asked God, If seventh day is Sabbath and why eighth day is also mentioned as Sabbath. Because God’s plan is that the last day of the week is allowed to be observed as Sabbath for certain period of time and then the first day of the week which is the 8th day to be observed as Sabbath. Gods plan is to establish the second one and take out the first one (Heb. 10:9).

Because in Bible the seventh day-Sabbath is mentioned as a feast to be observed (Leviticus 23:1-3) 3. Was Sabbath observed since creation? No, After Abraham, after 430 years only Sabbath observance was given as commandment to Israel people. Ever since creation till Moses time there is no Sabbath observance and also to man till that time commandment is also not given (Galatians 3:17) 4. Is there any evidence for Jesus observing the Sabbath? Jesus was accused of acting against the Sabbath. This man is not of God because he keepeth not the Sabbath day” John 9:16. Even in many instances Jesus was accused of not observing the Sabbath. (Matt. 12:1-5; Luke 13:10-17; Luke 14:1-6; John 5:5,18) 5. Did Jesus taught about Sabbath day observance? Jesus taught to the crowd and to His disciples many things on different topics. Not even in one place Jesus taught about Sabbath and there is no evidence in the Bible for it. Why is it so? Because that was not His (Jesus) teaching and Sabbath is not for the NT Christians. 6. Will Jesus and Paul’s visit to Synagogue be considered as observance of Sabbath? Jesus was circumcised He observed the Passover. We also have to do so then? There are Christian’s people who visit other faith religious places and Kumbh, are they going to worship? No they are just visiting the kumbh and worship places to share the gospel for the people who are gathering there. Jesus, Paul and other Apostles went to synagogue not to observe but to preach Gospel for the Jews who are gathered there (cf. Acts 17:17, Acts 18:4,11; Matt. 4:23; John 18:20) 7. Seventh day is Holy day, it is not changed, it is perpetual covenant says Exodus 31:16? Not only Sabbath, Old Testament (OT) mentions many other observances as perpetual only. Circumcision (Gen. 17:7,13), Aaron’s Priesthood (Exo. 40:15), Meat offering (Ezekiel 46:14) Water of separation (Num. 19:21,22) all these are mentioned as perpetual only. Christians have to observe the entire above one? 8. Can we forsake Sunday by observing Saturday? Doing that will be like eating the skin of the fruit and throwing the fruit away. In the New Testament times Christians gathered daily in the Temple, praised and worshiped God (Luke 24;53) “And they, continuing daily with one accord in the temple, and breaking bread from house to house, did eat their meat with gladness and singleness of heart” (Acts 2:46). In NT not only Saturday, Sunday but we are to worship God every day. Because in NT no day is considered as Holy. Sunday is observed as day of our Christ Resurrection. 9. Is there any evidence in the Bible for worship during Sunday? Yes, Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week, “He is not here, but is risen” that news was announced by the angels on the first day (Sunday) Luke 24:6. Jesus appeared to the disciples on the first day of the week (John 20:19), worship and breaking of bread on the first day of the week (Acts 20:7), offering also on the first day of the week (I Cor. 16:2). Seventh day reminds us of the fulfillment in creation. First day reminds us that we are (salvation) saved through the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Creation is subject to destruction but salvation through jesus Christ is everlasting. Christians who are saved should remember the salvation only and not the destruction. 10. About Book of law-Ten commandments, what Bible says? “For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.”Galatians 3:10. Those who want to observe the seventh day-Sabbath will lose the Grace of God that is the truth. “Let no man therefore judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of an holyday, or of the new moon, or of the Sabbath days: Which are a shadow of things to come; but the body is of Christ.”Colossians 2:16,17. Christ is more important than the seventh day . Jesus did healing on the Sabbath day. The Pharisees were annoyed and plotted to kill him .They became enemies of Jesus. Acts 2 says the Church began on the day of Pentecost. Saul was very much against the Church and persecuted the believers but the same Saul became Paul who testified about Christ and the Jews wanted to kill Paul . He preached Christ and he wrote many epistles in which he states that the believers in Christ both Jews & gentiles observed the gathering to break bread on the first day of the week. No where they followed the seventh day. Truth is the day is not very important than the true worship .

Can a person go to heaven just by keeping the Sabbath Day?

Old Testament was, mainly 5 books written by Moses. It was written not for the gentiles but for Israel. Jesus did not speak in support of Sabbath day.

Christ is the End of the Law. He fulfilled all the laws. First of all the Sabbath is made for Israel and not for Gentiles. Lord Jesus Christ says, " (Mathew 5: 17,18) ; Romans 10:4. Apostle Paul broke bread on the first day of the week not on Sabbath Day. .
