I think we're saying a lot of the same things here. That said.... this is a cocktails and whiskey channel... Heck, one of the main reasons I got into mixing actual cocktails was to be more mindful about drinking in the first place. Rather than mindlessly slamming beers out of boredom, I'd have to actively want an alcoholic beverage. A cocktail (usually) takes some effort and a conscious decision in the making of said effort. Do I actually "want" this drink, or am I just mowing the lawn? or bored...? or thirsty? Maybe I'll just grab some water first if the answer to the first question is no. What works for me, doesn't work for everyone, but again, it works for me. Calling everyone that consumes alcohol an alcoholic however, maybe lessens the effect the words have when someone actually needs to hear it. Some food for thought

@soot4355 lucky you! It's always MSRP here at least, but we get bottles VERY rarely. There was a drop last January i wanna say? Love it, but I save/savour it.... And rootbeer!!! Lol. giver I still have to try the mountain dew mixer version so I'm not sure I've got a leg to stand on!

Totally agree, at end of the day, whiskey is made to be enjoyed, not starred at. While I do like having my collection, every one of these bottle is on the shelf because I'm excited to drink them. I don't drink every day, so they'll be slow going, but for the most part, I'm going to enjoy these with good friends. There's a bit of hyperbole to this list in the first place, but the biggest fib is the "impress your friends bottle" while I LOVE breaking out the Four Roses Single for my friends who enjoy whiskey, I'd much rather experience a new bottle that I'm excited about with a friend or two than on my own. Hey! That's awesome, unfortunately, up here we're somewhat are the mercy of the LCBO in what we can find. I've got an order in with a friend and his whiskey group currently to bring in a few bottles from out of province, but finding any single barrel bourbons in Ontario (outside of four roses, which I adore, and blantons, which is suuuuuuper allocated) is nearly impossible. I'll be heading to the states in a few months tho, so I'll keep an eye out for it. How would you describe AM Scott? Are there any comparables for you? Maybe even style wise? Cheers!

I got a big old whiff of grapefruit on the nose when I brought it up to try and thought "uh oh... this isn't going to be for me" and was legitimately stunned at how much I enjoyed it! I used St Germain in that one, but the LCBO sells an elderflower liqueur from McGuinness that's slightly different, but its also half the price ($25.05 vs $49.95 for a 750ml bottle)

I'm planning on starting off with some more basic whiskey cocktails at first. As much as I enjoy good ol' whiskey in a glass, tasting and giving notes on individual whiskeys is something I'm still working on, but safe bet it'll happen once or twice.
