A 'EASY' look at Japanese Horror

When it comes to horror, I've always been into the more goofier and comedic side of the genre but whenever I'm in the mood for something more serious, I'll always look towards foreign media. Most specifically, Japan.
They always seem to nail the atmosphere one way or another. So when I saw that there was a show that combined by favourite aspects into one, I just had to check it out!
'We Apply for an Easy Job' is a horror themed comedy that follows 4 guys who take random jobs from the dark web equivalent of craigslist where absolute madness unfolds. One job could land them in a haunted call centre while another has them attending a wedding reception hosted by Vampires.
But under all the spookiness and fun lies a very sinister secret....
Come join me as I take a deep dive into this very under looked mini-series as I take a look at it's production, analyse it's story and explain to you why I think this show is a must watch. Even more surprising is that this show stars 4 members of the J-Pop Idol group, Snow Man!
Chapters:
0:00 - Prologue
3:52 - Disclaimer
6:14 - It's an easy job of just starting.
28:04 - It's an easy job of just watching. (Spoilers!)
1:17:50 - It's an easy job of just analysing.
1:41:58 - We apply for an 'easy' job: A 'easy' look at Japanese Horror
1:50:02 - Afterword
Subtitles are available.

I'm glad you brought this up because I forgot to mention it in the video. (My bad!) HERO should be up on Netflix Japan along with physical media but for those of us outside of Japan, the best we have available are fansubs. I honestly wish some of these companies would bring their shows overseas, especially considering how popular Korean crime dramas have become lately. I think a show like HERO would be a hit with a worldwide audience. Netflix is kinda getting there with Midnight Diner, Father of Light and Alice in Borderland. Not to mention Amazon bringing some films over. So I'm hoping they'll bring over some classics down the line too. Funnily enough, early episodes of SmapxSmap are up on Internet Archive of all places!

Incredibly well made video, particularly for your first time. I think mic quality doesn't matter much so long as it is audible with little background noise. You did great. I searched UA-cam because I had Maidy in my head. I, too watched the Dad of Light. The announcement of the show was actually my first exposure to the game. I didn't watch the show until... Maybe 5 years ago? Then I watched it again about three years ago around the time Maidy's death was broadcast. I didn't start playing until 2021. And then I watched the series again after finishing ARR! The show really hits different when you know the world. I knew of the Dad of Light project, and I knew of the Gundam. But much of this story I did not know. I appreciate all your research. I also want to add, I knew of Soken's battle with cancer. But I hadn't really connected the dots of Yoshida's thought process. I think it would be so hard to have just lost a friend and then turn around and find out another is about to go through the same thing. I really hope Soken's remains in remission and they can continue to do what they love. Thank you for making this video. I hope more folks click on it and are able to learn more about Maidy.

Thank you for watching and sharing your story! When I went on the same journey Maidy took his father on and went on to defeat Twintania, (with a bunch of strangers no less), I fully understood what made FF14 so special. If it wasn't for Maidy I wouldn't have met so many amazing people since making this documentary and I'm really glad that to this day more people get to hear his story! I also hope Soken stays healthy too. It's incredible how much work he put into not just 14 but 16 as well. He's just an endless well of creativity! Thank you again for taking the time to watch this!

Took me a while to get around to watching this but here I am! :p I really like the video. Especially the format is quite nice with the pre- and post- talks with the guest and then an edited down watchalong of the show. The Watchalong part felt a bit like your own version of what the western version of Takeshi's castle would do with people reacting to the footage, which makes it very entertaining to watch. That aside, It's embarrassing to admit this but until now, I did not know that Takeshi Kitano's Outrage Trilogy is the same Takeshi as Takeshi's Castle...
