This is the final film made on my Film Production course. 3 months of pre-production, filming and editing culminated in this short.
The dump
I miss living in Morecambe at times. It's hard to believe that there use to be direct trains from London Euston to Morecambe back in the day. Let's hope the Eden Project brings back the town's former glory.
A lot of lancaster towards the end
I hope Morecambe gets a revamp but retains its old charm .
Beautiful Morecambe, Thanks
How come when i go to European towns and cities they have preserved them much better than in UK .Most our seasidectowns are little more than dumps Torquay being the perfect example
What a beautiful video. Aaaah Morecambe! 1970's, bingo at slaters on Queen St. Morecambe vs South sheilds in the FA cup at christie park with my dad and uncle Ken. The Piers. HAPPY PEOPLE. HAPPY TIMES! It will come back! Home is where the heart is, and my home is Morecambe. Thanks so much for the video.
We had a lovely holiday in Morecambe, we took the bikes and cycled to Heysham and Lancaster, it was so peaceful.
Empire night club, in 1993 in the summer and up to winter- December. Had some great night's, also great memories. When the rave scene, was at it's best! Great time's they were, an never forgotten.
Great memories of the 60s, lido, Galleon and miniature train
I played for dancing at the Winter Gardens from about 57 to 62 great days.
A lot of lancaster in this
Station garage was opposite Euston road railway station at the bottom of queen street not Clark Street as shown in the video.
The world has changed so fast for me... Scary
And me
@@Truerealism747 pray for peace and unity, brother
@@abumulla4606yes it need to come soon🎉
I remember a wooden pirate ship beside the promenade and saw it in the background at 2.54 in this great video. Also, there were sand trains - tractors made to look like steam engines pulling open trailers with bench seats for paying passengers. It was fun to ride on them through water when the tide was coming in. In the 1970s there was the Radio 1 Roadshow and the Milk Festival near the Midland Hotel. Poor old Morecambe went downhill in the next decades.
Nice work, subscribed
great video / photos. Poor old Morecambe somehow has lost it's shine. I don't think the council have helped things.
Mr blobby land
Great video so many memories here I've live here all my life morecambe I love it here ❤
Literally just started crying to this video shows how much morecambe has improved over the years what a video 📹
I purchased my first digital radio from Woolworths morcambe wonderful memories greetings from Scotland 🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧 we will visit again
We've never been to morcombe but nice pictures of how it was we used to go to Rhyl and it's the same nowadays.
You would assume something gets better with time.
i lived in Morecambe as an international student at Lancaster Univ in the mid 80s. this video brought back sweet memories, thank you.
Funny that what replaces what was there before is never better. The Eden Project Morecambe seems like another white elephant. What good is it for locals.
Shame about the Pier, Heads up though guys. .. 5 million tourists came this year in the summer holiday get yourself here.
Morecambe in it's hey day was a truly wonderful place to visit. All the piers (3), but sadly now gone along with both fair grounds. I spent many a hot day on the sea front, splashing about in the pools and literally 1000s of people laying the grass or walking up and down the promenade. Truly magical times...
When did the piers go
@@Truerealism747 In November 1977, the shoreward part of West End Pier collapsed in a storm, and Lancaster Ciuncil lost no time in demolishing the rest, before any talk of rebuilding it came about. Lancester Council obtained a grant to refurbish Central Pier in the 1990s. They used the money to demolish it. I can't remember the third one.
Just back from 2 nights in Morecambe. I thought with COVID and people staying in UK for holidays that there would be some of the old magic. Unfortunately not. The sunset is still amazing, but having not been in 20 years, I was in shock at how different it was. I actually felt unsafe walking alone in the evening and struggled to find anywhere doing proper breakfasts. The rides were full of screaming drunk teens and Happy Mount Park had little to offer. Maybe i was just wanting to show my own kids the magic I experienced many years ago with my parents. Times have changed for us all I suppose.
someone must have run out of pictures of Morecambe from 3:40 it's the town of Lancaster
sounds cool
Is this the most boring video ever made? Absolute torture.
Visited Morecambe almost every year as a kid with my parents. It was a great place, especially when you had the piers, heysham village and Happy Mount Park there too! Heartbreaking watching this vid
NSU car dealer!
I've been to Morecambe since 1962 .I've seen the best times . Today it's got nothing it saddens me to see it like this. Thanks to Lancaster council
Why is Lancaster on this Video of Morecambe?
Watchinghere pakibalikannlang w
Looks lot better before now they look eye saw
I worked at Pontins holiday camp 85/6/7 seasons some of the best memories I have . lived in morecambe between seasons still in contact with some of the people I worked with 36 year’s ago 🙏❤️
We're abouts you live now mate
A lot of these are from lancaster....please research properley!
i was born there
Sad that a lot of the buildings that had class and grace have either not been kept or replaced with soulless monstrosities. That's what happens when you lose civic pride and let clowns plan and approve our towns and cities. Examples, the garage and the Pleasureland. Same in Lancaster.
Half of these are of Lancaster.
We used to love going to Morecambe to see their illuminations as girls! It is such a shame that it has been neglected for so many years now. Its a shadow of its former self. Quite dull & drab in comparison. I still love it & we have happy family memories & return regularly. Beautiful views across the bay!! ❤
This video really drives home how utterly shit the modern world is.
THE UK IS SLOWLY LOSING ALL ITS PRIDE AND HERITAGE AND OUR SO CALLED LEADERS COULDN'T GIVE A RATS ASS BECAUSE AS LONG AS THEY ARE LAUGHING ALL THE WAY TO THE BANK THATS WHAT MATTERS. 🖕🏼FUCK EM
IM SICK OF PEOPLE WHO PUT MORCAMBE DOWN I WENT THERE EVERY WEEKEND NEARLY TO FRONTIER LAND AND NOW ITS ALL GONE IT MAKES ME SICK THEY DESTROYED IT AND NOW THERE IS JUST EMPTY LAND WHEN IT HAD BEEN THERE FOR OVER 100 YEARS WHAT THE F HAPPENED :(
Part of life, i'm 62 now, we all must pass.
Let's hope The Eden Project never get's built. It will spoil and ruin what Morecambe has left.
Happy Mount Park was also missing from your montage. I have very happy memories of the paddling pool, the trampolines and the little train that took you around the circumference. Summers were always hot and sunny and the ice cream cones never tasted so good. Happy times. Sad to hear about the knifings, homelessness and grime that the resort descended into. Keeping fingers crossed that the Eden Project will inject some self pride back into the community.
If anyone has any recollections of Winged World, the foreign bird house at Heysham, where I worked as a keeper for several years I would love to hear from you.my email is john.thorpe1952@gmail.com Many thanks.
a lot of these scenes are Lancaster
