Values are part of it. I also work from home and do all of the driving for the kid, home tutoring, and meal prep. Whereas, my husband doesn’t do any of these things. Having seen many women lose their kids or get stuck in poverty if/when their marriage didn’t work out after commitment to being a fulltime homemaker I think it is too risky to not have an option to work.

It seems you have made up your mind about what kind of marriage I am in. You don't know enough about my marriage or me for that matter to validate your conclusions, although you surely are free to express your ignorance. As parent it is a responsibility to make sure you can support your children regardless of divorce, your spouse passing away at a young age, or your spouse divorcing you regardless of your own commitment to a marriage. Not to mention Iranians care about supporting their parents and extended families when they can since it is a collectivistic family oriented culture. I have my own thoughts about why you are so defensive towards my experience of my marriage as a blessing.@@katealison6087

Yes, we are both entrepreneurs. At the moment if I were able to work 40 hours a week like him I would earn more money than him however he doesn’t want to work less to split domestic tasks with me so I can work more. He would rather us work together as a team so that his company can raise venture capital and possibly be sold for more than I make in the long run.

@@bubbabratty8596certainly, I would not be making this sacrifice for his business to succeed if I was a girlfriend baby mama and not a wife. As a wife I have community property rights and shares in his company while if his business succeeds a girlfriend would likely merely get shopping trips and occasional vacations. Since I have traditional Iranian values I am more committed to making a marriage work which helps him feel safer with me than if I had other types of values.

I've just been reading an article about how they still amputate limbs in Iran as criminal punishment. Without anaesthetic and using some kind of metal guilletine. I believe also in public. A significant abuse of human rights - it's sheer, brutal cruelty and torture. Values from a culture who behaves like that are unlikely to be working in the best interests of women. Your marriage sounds like a transaction in which you have to protect yourself whichever way you spin. If you look at the latest United States census data Iranian Americans are outperforming White Americans when it comes to level of education, level of owing their own business, and income level. So tell me why Iranians should give up their cultural values when it is these values that allow them to succeed in a country where a large majority take every opportunity to perpetuate a smear campaign and attempt to make Iranians feel less about themselves? People who have had their culture stolen from them by imperialism and neocolonialism are going through a rough patch, although healing and resilience is accessible for all and when the oppressed peoples of the world wake up to this your ethnocentric mentality will go through a makeover. @@katealison6087
