Money Myths, Financial Stress, & Entrepreneurship Oh My! with Jacquette Timmons
There’s a ton of misinformation in the entrepreneurial community. No one can seem to agree if having debt is worth the risk and stress means you're successful but you're also internally suffering. With all this back and forth it can feel like you just can’t win no matter what you do. It’s time to set the record straight and consult with an expert in personal and business finances.
For three decades, Jacquette M. Timmons has been exploring the intersection of money, business, and life - through a cultural lens. Her aim is to help people decrease their financial stress and increase their financial health and wealth by getting them to focus on both sides of the money equation - the numbers, along with the psychology and emotions of money. Jacquette does this by helping people focus on their relationship with money. Because this relationship influences every swipe, every deposit, and every fiscal choice you make. And, by helping business owners make decisions about their business model, sales process, and pricing strategy that center on the health of their personal finances.
She's the author of, "Financial Intimacy: How to Create a Healthy Relationship with Your Money and Your Mate;" a frequent blogger; creator & trademark holder of "Pricing Made Human®; host of the podcast, "More Than Money," and a staunch advocate for getting people to focus on the human side of money.
In this week’s episode, we’re diving into the money myths that are plaguing the small business community and what you can do to improve your financial strategy. Jacquette is a wealth of knowledge with tons of experience and she is ready to share it with you all. It is time to stop surviving and start thriving, and we’re going to teach you what you can do to take control of your finances.

Ever wonder how entrepreneurs sell out their services and products as soon as the doors open? First off, I sooo love the name of your biz “Open Tabs”!! So unique! And I truly understand where you’re coming from because I’m an entrepreneur for over 10 years. I set my schedule in a way that gives me freedom to travel so I can relax, get a change of scenery so I can go back to work and continue to be the best me. A virtual assistant is something I thought about to help me achieve more in less time. This podcast gave me a lot to think about!

This was such a delicious conversation! Here are a few snacks I'm taking home in my doggie bag: "Freedom is the destination." "Strategic rest." "White space." I can say that I've definitely taken a few unexpected sabbaticals... as recently as last month!. I'm getting better at recognizing what triggers me and rest is certainly a part of the equation. But for me, it is more of a creative space. Creativity is rejuvenating for me, so I don't feel like I'm exerting so much energy when I'm working on things I love. It's when I'm pushing too hard on the things I do to "pay the bills" without time for my creative play is when I shut down. Thanks for the tips and strategies. I'm not in a space in my business yet where I'm ready to hire help, but this conversation is definitely being filed for future consideration. Because, as you said, freedom is the destination!
