This is the most dysfunctional relationship I have seen in a long while. The mother spoiled her in the first place and then raised her in that lifestyle. All while glamorizing and playing it up-the mother has her own set of issues too-but as soon as she stopped spoiling her, or went to make her act right, she rebelled and left the house. I don't think she looked for her very hard either, but once she was outside, there were no options and things got real. She did the one thing she thought she could do-the thing she saw her mother do all her life. At this point, that child needs guidance. A role model. She knows what she's doing is wrong but she's competing with her mother and doing everything she can to get under her skin. Its a real cry for help. She needs to be exposed to other things, other areas, and other point of views. Its not too late for her. Otherwise, the endless tug of war between is going to end in tragedy. I don't fault Mike for airing her story on SWU because she is definitely a part of the SWU, but he should help her. He should link her up with a mentor or some kind of network and support....something. There's no way I could tell her story and not atrempt to help her at the end. You can clearly see she's terribly lost-If I fault him for anything, its that.
