Me and my friend and her two kids went for mushing. I was mushing with her son. She was mushing with her daughter. She kept complaining that that we were too slow. The video is a mix of mobile phone and gimbal footage. I am sorry that my phone footage are very shaky. I regretted not to take more videos during the break at the campsite before my camera went flat!

Vlog 1 of of our 12 days in Finland. We arrived at Hotel Kultahippu and spent the day just loitering and shopping in the supermarket. This was my first trip ever since the pandemic started and I didn't know what to expect. All's well though :D

@@ekinersthanks. We're u able to see northern lights
@@colintu83 i went twice, the first time in Feb I did, in Dec i did not. usually Dec it's harder to catch it
Amazing video
Hi...I love the video and the traveling pictures. I am planing on going in three weeks to Ivalo with my daughter....can you pls share the info of the snow-hiking guide person and the horse riding place?...would love to do that :) Txs!
Hi there! I did the snowshoe in Inari which is a little away from Ivalo. I think there should be one in Invalo too. I booked mine here : visitinari.fi/activities/arctic-winter/snowshoe-trip-into-the-lappish-nature/ For the horse riding, unfortunately the last 2nd time i went, the owner told me they have sold all their animals due to covid :( but you can still book a horse sleigh in hotel ivalo. Do book in advance though. They can be fully booked up quite quickly.
Hello! thanks for ur video, i am visiting in jan and was wondering if you have ur finland full itinerary (including ivalo rovaniemi etc) thank you!
Hello! Exciting to hear that you are visiting wonderful Finland! Here is my itinerary :) docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/17fbMhc-GBFuaui4yAMA23brYuoBCoTLS3sACaZH3cAU/edit?usp=drivesdk
@@playplay7330 Hi hi,at last I found a local(my dear true blue Singaporean) Finland Ivalo Vlog. Btw just curious did u manage to catch a glimpse of the Aurora? Did you stay in a Igloo Hotel? Sorry I was to Kan Chiong to ask you I haven't had time to watch your the rest of Vlog. Sorry for last question,I read your Excel itinerary(meticulously write up),your total $12,319.18 is per pax or hoe many? I'm planning a 3 adults trip to Finland Nov 2023. Hence must start to explore now. Thanks
@Irene Cheng hi! Happy to help! I have actually been there twice so i do have some tips! The 12k is for my friend who was bringing her two kids. 5 years ago i went, it was about $4+k. This time is $5+k, there is inflation over there :( the first time i went i saw the aurora. You need a clear sky for it so i wouldnt say nov is the best time to go. Preferably early nov or end oct is better. Otherwise late feb or march is better. Last year i went in dec, we didnt see it. Igloo hotel not sure if you mean the ice igloo or the glass one. i visited the ice one and had a meal there. i dont think its worth staying though. Cuz its too cold in the hotel and there is no toilet in room. You need to go out to shower in this makeshift toilet outside. For glass igloo, can try but there is nothing much around the glass igloo so it can be abit boring. We decided to skip it. Too much trouble to go there 😅
@@playplay7330 Thanks dear for your fast reply. May I ask $12k is for 1 adult and 2 children? How's your airport transfer? Sin- Hel - Iva straight? Did you manage to retrieve your luggage on 2nd day?
@Irene Cheng 12k was like the essential for 1 adult 2 kids. They eventually spent about 16k including shopping and eating etc. We had an airport transfer in hel, i would suggest to give more time for transfer, need to go through passport check and the walk is quite long. We only had 1 hour so we ran and our luggage didnt make it. It wS delivered 8 hrs after we arrived.
Hello. May I know which hotel you stay Do you mind sharing your itinerary, I am heading there in December. Thank you
I stayed at hotel kultahippu. I can send you my itinerary if you dm me your email :)
@@mikolah2880 thank you for the reply, unfortunately i could not dm you.
@@codfish5493 I know the "Hippu" for many many Years. I have Family in Ivalo and we are often there also in the Hippu for Karaoke.
Hi would like to check did you all rent a car to travel around Ivalo and rovaniemi?
Nope. We took taxis and buses. The local transportation is actually quite good.
@@playplay7330 thanks for your reply. Do we need to book or buy the bus tickets in advance (like preferable a week ahead or few days) or can we buy on the day itself?
@@yufang5275 for bus within the town or to Santa village u dont have to buy in advance. Just wait at the bus stop and drop 2euro in when the bus comes. If you want to travel to another town that is like a few hrs away, it will be better to book it.
@@playplay7330 thanks for the info. It's a great help for my upcoming trip rovaniemi and ivalo:D
Should I stay in Rovaniemi or Ivalo?
Hope you liked Ivalo! I did my military training there. It was an tough place but it also rewarded a lot.
Thank u i love the place!
we did too👍🏻
I'm half from Ivalo and I will move out there soon. Thanks for video 😄
Oi ! Minun Äiti on Wanha Ivalolainen. Mutte me on pallon Kesät Ivalossa.
Juu, mie vietän myös aina kaikki kesät siellä yöttömässä yössä. Kaikki mun kaverit on sieltä peräsin.
So fun to look how you get exited by snow. Ivalo is very beautiful place. I lived there 5years. Did you try drinking the tap water? It is so good in the north because it is coming strait out of a spring.
Oh no! we didnt try to drink from the tap there. Pity! Because it was cold, we always boiled before drinking
@@playplay7330 maybe next time then :)
Very natural and fun to watch😆 May I ask if you need to book the public bus to your hotel in advance?
Thanks! And yes you need to book it because they will not be there if you dont. We were the only passengers that day, the driver wouldn't have come if there were no bookings.
Nice video! I love Finland and want to visit there! 👍 😍💖
Awww thanks! Finland is definitely one of the best place i visited!
Couple of tips: Those birch log pieces looked really dry, so you don't actually need any paper to light them up. Just peel some of the thinner part of the bark and use that as a kindling. It catches fire very easily. Place about four pieces of logs in criss-cross -pattern and put the bark between the logs. But the most important thing: you need to open the smoke vent in the chimney before lighting the fire. It's usually a metal handle of some kind, located above the fireplace. There are two types, you need to pull it or twist it, depends on the type, to open it. Then the smoke can flow to chimney as it is supposed to. In modern air-conditioned houses it can be tricky to get the smoke flowing to the chimney at first, especially when the fire place and chimney are cold. It helps to open a window or a door a bit for the first few minutes until the fire is burning properly. And last: in individual houses the fire alarms are not connected to the fire station directly. They only warn the occupants so they can phone the fire brigade if needed. In office buildings and stores the fire alarm systems are connected to the fire station.
Wow thanks for the amazing tips! Living in a tropical country we don't know anything about fireplaces 😅
I have lived in Finland My entire Life:D I wanna go somewhere More "trobical"

Hi, thanks for the video. Did you take any northern light tour? if so, what is the name?
I did! But i didnt see any because december really isnt a good month to catch it. I went before in March and saw it. I booked it with taxi service. If you have 4 people, it is cheaper to book a taxi.
