I love watching people read Christie for the first time! Personally, I love Roger Ackroyd and five Little pigs.

Your top books are pretty much mine. Five Little Pigs is not as famous, but it balances the mystery aspect with the novel and characterization. The Poirot adaptation of FLP is in my opinion the best of the series.

This was a fun video! :) Just a little tip: The easiest way to pronounce "Poirot" is "pwah-ROW". I listened to all the BBC radio plays and learned to pronounce his name finally!! :)

Thank you for sharing! I will do my best to get to this when I am able. I will disagree with you when it comes to AI, but it is just a personal preference of mine. I prefer that humans create art and literature, because art and literature is a part of what makes us human. AI should be left to do more technical and manual things. Thank you for mentioning 'The secret of Chimneys', it is under-rated. I have read most of her books. My top two are 'The secret of Chimneys' and 'Hercule Poirot's Christmas'. It's very nice that you did this video. Love and appreciation from a fellow Agatha Christie fan. :)

I have already read 18 books. My top five (short story included): 5) Philomel Cottage 4) And Then There Were None 3) Peril at End House I CANNOT DECIDE BETWEEN: 2&1) Endless Night & Death on the Nile Reading Endless Night I adored Agatha Christie. It was terrifying, romantic, heartbreaking, shocking but I really loved Death on the Nile. I found the solution in "Death on the Nile" but i loved the tragedy...

I love watching other people’s favorite Christie novels. For me I think The Murder of Roger Ackroyd has one of the craziest endings. She was sooo good at those twisty endings!

The CEO is a black woman, so I love supporting the little bit of diversity in tech, also, they have a friends system in the app, but it isn’t as fleshed out as Goodreads obviously lol -Beanstack is used pretty often for summer library reading programs. I love this app and I’m trying to figure out how to integrate my Goodreads and StoryGraph to it -I know waiting for the books via Libby is frustrating, but it’s based on how many copyrights your library system has. If only one copyright has been purchased, only one book can be checked out. I was really frustrated until I learned about how that works!

My friend got me on StoryGraph last year. I love the layout and format for tracking my reading! It is so much more pleasing to my eye than the Goodreads app IMO. Currently reading “The Terror” by Dan Simmons. Cheers!

One of the reasons I bought 'The Pale Horse' is because it has saved at least 2 lives (one of them was a baby at the time). [Mini-spoiler ahead] This book mentions about the symptoms of thallium poisoning, and this detection is quite hard at the beginning in real life. Both the victims were saved when either the nurse or the doctor had read the book and saw the same symptoms in those victims.

This is really good writing advice and to be honest in all the videos I've watched about writing advice I've never seen it distilled so well. Thank you!

This was very funny. it's so fun to read bad reviews, I did something similar on my channel early on and I want to revisit the idea. On HP though, people looking for a deep complicated story should look elsewhere and I think take these books too seriously as these reviews show. Rowling has some fun ideas that make for a fun ride but fall apart thinking about it for more than 2 seconds. Particularly the later half as it becomes increasingly more political, and Rowling blatantly ignores the own structural critique she sets of up of broader wizard culture. I don't like it when people say "it's a kids book, don't think about it that much" because children deserve well thought out, quality literature like the rest of us. But also, most people just want to rag on HP because it's popular or because of Rowling's views. I don't like HP not because I don't like Rowling, I don't like HP because I developed media literacy, re-read the whole thing, and realized this series storytelling and Rowling's writing are far from what I remembered it being.

People forget it's a book for kids, it's not going to be written like Shakespeare

It's Rowling like "bowling", but she's not the world's strongest advocate for addressing people by the name they prefer, so you'll get away with either. Related.... I probably wouldn't choose now to get **into** Harry Potter while so many of its fans are working to leave it behind.

One of the great things about rereading harry potter as an adult is being able to deconstruct it and critique with an adult lense. It was amazing first time round and it's a hoot to go back and see where it really worked and where it didn't. Some people just love to hate it because it's a popular series and, more importantly, a children's series. That being said, it's a series that grew with it's readers, starting out accessible to kids and becoming more like a YA series toward the end. Actual adults feel intimidated by the size of books 5-7, let alone kids 😅

Sadly, my opinions of many of her books have become conflated with those of the varying TV and film adaptations and even audiobook portrayals over the decades. So many plot details were altered that I scarcely recall what some of the original stories were like. Christie herself would re-use some plot devices in later works. She even re-used many character names. I have enjoyed 4-50 From Paddington, The Body In The Library, At Bertram's Hotel; A Murder Is Announced, The ABC Murders, Murder On The Orient Express, as well as The Murder At The Vicarage despite each having at least one unlikely but necessary plot point. [Edited to remove an accidental time stamp - hopefully.] {{slight spoilers follow if you still mind about those}} Because of the dishonest narrator plot device, I have never re-read her celebrated great mystery, The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd. The Moving Finger dabbles in that same idea, although I still like that story well enough.

I want to go into acting and I find Shakespeare awful lol

Welcome to BookTube! Don't worry, you're not alone in using the library and focusing on less fashionable books. A lot of BookTube (particularly smaller channels - bigger channels get sent books for review or can spend channel earnings on books, so they aren't so representative) is about the less-loved but still wonderful works that fly under the radar. I love Agatha Christie and I totally agree with you about what it means to be well-read.

You did such a good job with this introductory video of yours and I am really glad that I was able to get to know you and about your reading tastes, interests, and background. It is great to see that you are majoring in English and looking to become a writer. I, too, majored in English and enjoy and want to do something with my writing. I really admire the approach that you are taking and I love how you answered Question 4 with regard to reading being a more active hobby that requires more effort on the reader. I read a few of Agatha Christie's books and thought that what I have read was good. Ari is probably the greatest enthusiast of Agatha Christie on our channel, but we have a select few that are very enthusiastic about her books. We have covered quite a few of her books on our channel. You have to do what works best for you as far as creating content is concerned, but I am very happy to hear that you are very eager about starting this channel and I think you are going to do great things and go very far as a Booktuber! Your question that you would have for favorite Booktubers was very thought-provoking and I was thinking through what books had an impact on me, how, and why they did so. I really admire that you are an eclectic reader that is willing to give anything a chance. That makes me even more excited to see what you have in store. Don't worry about not having TikTok. I do not have a TikTok, either, or am I interested in getting one.
