IMPORTANT VIDEO! 69 REPLIES AND I'LL GIVE PERPETUAL MOTION.
17:20 why the world sucks
8 years on, why has the free fuel not gone anywhere? Governments i recon
oh dear god i cant watch this.....a car that runs on sunlight alone ... omg great .. tell me more mr may.... what in the name of ceasars ghost are you showing me may... during the DAY there wasnt enough light to move it so you had to demo it running at NIGHT throwing enough power at it to run a mansion for a week, and only got up to 10 mph...foggy ole england couldnt even turn its wheels enough to demo it even in the slightest.. it may be great tech but "power to the people" it aint
There was a _much_ smaller experimental solar tower on the Georgia Tech campus back in the early 1980s.
kevin collins LVE zoom
It's a shame pretty nothing seen in this video has been put into practical use or changed in the 16 years it's been out I guess that oil and gas money is still worth just to much
James May is a true gent
What happened to the cr5 reactor? there seems to be nothing about it since 2009, did the oil industry kill them?
More relevant than ever
I like it that they do the first segment (solar powered car) on the Dunsfold Aerodrome.
when your science professor puts this on in class
I didn’t think the words American and brains could be used in the same sentence lol.. oh we’ll, you learn something new everyday!..
I still don't get, if you can power a car solely on solar energy, why do they not use solar panels to recharge electric cars? No stopping to recharge ever.
if you had a solar array you could certainly power your electric car with it. But the size of solar panel able to fit on a car wouldn't produce enough energy to keep it charged and moving. the solar powered vehicles demonstrated in this video and elsewhere are extra light and extra aerodynamic to minimize the amount of energy required to move them. they are a fraction of the weight of a modern car. Also electric cars are much heavier than gas cars because of all the batteries. at one of my old jobs we used solar panels to keep the batteries charged on vehicles that didn't get driven very often though.
its a bit dumbed down. Hydrogen is a carrier.
How many “James Mays” are there?
the biggest flintstone man found so far
A tranquil voice.
Ceramic Nano Tint with its Infrered blocking technology, would certainly help those in that bubble of the vehicle. Some sort of ventilation wouldn't go a miss. Granted, I have not seen a more recent representation as of late.
still believe a multi section, parabolic mirror couldn't burn enemy ships at harbor in your mediterranean city state? all you need is someone with a brain that works as fast as a computer to aim them. ancient death ray, baby!
nuclear and fossil fuels are the best forms of energy
Lol Piccadilly
"Alternative" energy has been a colossal waste of time and money. Fossil fuels and nuclear are the only realistic, cheap, reliable, plentiful, clean and safe sources of energy we have.
Fossil fuels cause literally millions of deaths yearly lmao
this is why democracy is so important, so people like me can outvote people like you.
Hemp for energy yeh 😘Aģape
Imagine a glass cylindrical tube in the middle of your home with one of those Spanish dishes aimed at it
Wow. The space elevator sparked recall from 1978 or 79. Starting out in med field as an RT aide in a midwest hospital. For some forgotton reason I once visited one of the RTs at his modest home, a total mad scientist but "hampered" by a young family, job and real life. Built a working proto of the bimetallic sphere-in-twisting-mag-field model device and blew me away. Had some power feedback thingie that made it self-sustaining after triggering. Was going to revolutionize the world and I was half-convinced I'd have a "Yeah, I MET Einstein" type story. Guess not but appreciate the recall and ... HOLY WTF, I remember his name. GOOGLE!
Nuclear Fission isn't nearly as dangerous as the media trys to make it seem. More people die from fossile fuel polution in one year alone than all people ever from Fission.
It's unfortunate that people knew in the 1960's the seriousness of global warming, but because of how much control the oil companies had (and still do) they shot it down. If only people would have listened, we wouldn't be in this mess.
and env is still not available 15 plus years after it was announced
Blithering
Decades on and the oil industry still holds all the power. Any ideas like this are quickly killed off so fossil fuel remain king
The problem is not the elevator, it's the tether! There is not material strong enough to stretch to space, it would break under its own weight long before you made it to space. You would definitely not be able to put a payload on it. I believe they are focusing on the wrong problem.
I guess that's solar in a way but really it's steam powered ur just heating water with a giant magnifying glass ur not actually harvesting photovoltaic energy
that retard cant even say killometers its not killer meters! dummy retard!¬
James, George Hamilton uses that helio tower as a tanning bed
51:45 I spent a minute thinking he was the wealthy underwriter to the venture, then I realized it was his name...!
The dishonesty around Nuclear Fusion is concerning, in most mainstream documentaries it is described as being "clean" with "no waste" when it is neither. Designs like the Tokomak or Stellarator will produce thousands of tons of high level Nuclear Waste, not as a by product of the fuel and would come from the containment and shielding structure. Those Neutrons will irradiate the structure and convert the metals in them into Radioactive Isotopes over time, this is one of the reasons Nuclear Fission plants have set service lives because this weakens the alloys and its impractical to replace it. Tokomak/Stellarators are far more sensitive to this because the strength of the structure is critical and the density of the Neutron bombardment is greater, the structures of designs like ITER are immense and very heavy and whilst they may be more practical when it comes to replacing it rather than having to scrap the whole reactor it still means you have thousands of tons of high level Nuclear Waste to store or dispose of. I find these omissions and lies concerning because the Nuclear Power industry fully earned the public distrust and scepticism, some Nuclear Power Advocates act like they didn't and the public are just being irrational which is not true. Newer reactor designs are much safer but there was waste, leaks, accidents around all aspects of the industry and often got covered up or underwent a great deal of perception shaping. If/when people find out about the omissions and lies around certain Fusion Power designs then it will just focus the current mistrust onto them, it could stall development or adoption in the future.
How many birds do the Spanish kill yearly?
Shows that 1 in 3 people are intelligent
Nå er det vell på tide og ta samme runden en gang til , håper bbc ser sin besøkelsestid
Insane
39:06 - If only he could harvest the energy from every single time some random asshole called him a "Flying Dutchman".
Watching this in 2023, this is absolutely marveling
Jeremy and James are (were) both very enthusiastic about Hydrogen Fuel cells in the past. Shame that batteries/hybrids have taken hold for now as I don't see it as a long term fix myself.
Not big ideas. More like stupid ideas. An actual load of bollocks. You can't get petrol from air.
10:15 did he say Lucy... Isnt she the 18 y.old girl from drive tribe, she was a toddler when that video was made wtf
making petrol out of sunlight makes me so mad ur just getting the disadvantages of everything
Everyone is a slave from birth and are fucked by the government and forced to work your entire life or live in poverty and end up committing suicide because of mental health and the government doesn't give a shit about you and all they want is you to work your entire life for money.
pie in the sky...but good video.
