Great Gold Robbery: The Golden Heist
The Great Gold Robbery took place on the night of May 15, 1855, when a routine shipment of gold bullion and coins was stolen from the guard's van on the train between London Bridge station and Folkestone. The gold was being shipped to Paris. The heist was carried out by four thieves: two South Eastern Railway (SER) employees and two masterminds, a career criminal, and a former SER employee dismissed for gambling.

The quote written by Tamsen Donner was written after she was rescued from the Sierra Nevadas. This simply means that she wrote this after having cannibalized her fellow travelers. “…I shall say the trouble is all in getting started.” Is a truly haunting quote.

I thought this was a very well done Donner party accounting. I'm unsure about the script but I thought it was well written and delivered, and I thought the paintings were interesting and well done. I would be curious to know the source of the script and the paintings and having watched and listen to numerous Donner documentaries I would put this one in the upper set regarding quality. For a 1 hour overview of the Donner party tragedy this would be just about the best, Well done!

Hey thanks for kind words! Basic reasearch was done in almighty Wikipedia of course, also alot of details are taken from survivors themselves: Diary of Patrick Breen; Memoir book "Across the Plains in the Donner Party" taken from the spoken word of Virginia Reed Murphy. As for pictures/paintings, they are handcrafted firstly from generative AI, mainly (Midjourney V5), and then heavily edited using Photoshop. Hope that answers your questions. I'm sure I've missed some minor sources, but that's all i can remember from the top of my head.

Very good coverage however in the end you say that there was only one surviving member of the donner party yet on the last list of deceases (in red text) & alive (in white text) there are several children there including Leanna who went on to get married and has descendants today.. in fact there are many names in white text that survived from all of the families.

This script is a stolen script. This is not ‘Unearthed’s’ script. The artwork is made up of European models and very few are authentic to the American westward movement. Stop stealing the work of others and stop re-imaging the truth. Your slip-shod approach is disgusting.

Truly a great documentary about the ill fated trek of the Donner Reed party the audacity of men is sometimes great and sometimes tragic. I don't know why Langford Hastings didn't get into some kind of trouble for telling pioneers to take this so called shortcut when he himself didn't compete it with a wagon

Good video! It's nice to find sailing related channels that have content this good. Also: "Schooner" is not pronounced with the soft "ch" sound, and is instead pronounced like "school". Sailing words are often strange like that, as they often have roots in old English rather than modern English. The Mary Celeste likely did not have a "lifeboat" but rather a dinghy for use in carry passengers and cargo to shore when there was no dock. "Lifeboats" solely for emergency use are a fairly modern invention and boats from this time period would not have them. A more appropriate term would be "pinnace", or "tender".

I think you do a good job of presenting both sides of the story. My own thought is that while entertaining it's almost certainly fictitious. Besides some obvious things like there being no contemporaneous accounts, I find it more implausible that a German could show up in Rome and impress the college of cardinals so much that they would be elected Pope without them knowing the person *very* well. While there were indeed non-Italian popes during the era, they were for exceptional candidates and not candidates who just "slipped-in" so-to-say. Also it's not really clear why Joan would want to even become Pope? Assuming the rest of the story is true, it seems like she had a cushy job as a court tutor and could get by relatively unscrutinized. Also, one last thing for now, stoning would be seen as a foreign and barbaric custom in 850s Rome. There might have been other methods of execution, but stoning by the general populace would be strange. Most executions would be the province of local rulers who would use either a particular device for the purpose, or there would be a particular executioner. But gaggles of random commoners would be squashed by local rulers, especially since any mob that could stone the pope could just as easily stone a noble!
