Elevating Quality in Advertising | Jess Wheeler
Jess Wheeler is a globally-awarded copywriter and Creative Director at creative advertising & design agency SICKDOGWOLFMAN. Renown for developing strategically cut-through campaigns, the team have ventured into new territory as product developers with their recently launched sunscreen Slather.
On this episode Jess shares with why the current state of advertising isn’t designed with customers in mind, how that opens opportunities for brands to cut through, what prompted the expansion to launching their own brand and what sets it apart, why we may see more agencies follow in this approach, why brands should be wary of using AI in advertising and so much more.

      I think it's purer than many like to give credit for. Creative and business don't need to clash, they should always complement. There should be no negotiation or compromise when it comes to a healthy brand. It's healthy or it's not.

    • @futurehistoryx
      @futurehistoryx 16 днів тому

      Tom Gerrard is talking about how we all have the capacity to be artist. Our motives to create may differ but it will always come through in the art.

  • @MemberRoach
    @MemberRoach 17 днів тому

    Being an artist and producing "art" for tax write offs is not the same. You think that red line on white canvas is art or tax evasion? You tell me.

    • @futurehistoryx
      @futurehistoryx 17 днів тому

      This is a great question and worthy of longer conversation. The sentiment here is that we all have the capacity to create art and to take the endeavour seriously if we choose to. Our motives may differ and the output will be subjective.

      @@futurehistoryx Art is a process. You don't make art for money, that's not art, that's work. Is the pepsi logo and art piece? Not to me, not in a sense that it is an artistic expression. It is a design made to invoke certain feelings, just like an art piece, but it lacks soul. Art is created to convey concepts and emotions that are abstract. That's my take.

    • @futurehistoryx
      @futurehistoryx 17 днів тому

      I absolutely agree that art is a process of expression and done for the self although I disagree that making money from it discounts it as art. Why can't it be both an expression and a form of income? I also feel your comparison is apples to oranges. Art is for me, design is for them, 2 opposing objectives.

    I love streetwear. I think what the brand represents is just as important as the graphics and design. Represent something really important to you and the brand culture. As far as style, there are so many timeless things waiting on your twist. Do something different that nobody else is. You can do larger drops, but keep exclusive smaller drops to stay in demand.
