So many gems !!
And we only just scratched the surface. What was your biggest takeaway?
@@futurehistoryxthe clash between corporate and creative, the negotiation required to maintain a healthy brand
I think it's purer than many like to give credit for. Creative and business don't need to clash, they should always complement. There should be no negotiation or compromise when it comes to a healthy brand. It's healthy or it's not.
This is a such a cool conversation! :))
Thank you for checking it out. Tom is an absolute legend with incredible insights and a desire to help aspiring artists. It was inspiring and a privilege to have that chat with him.

worst take i have heared also make microphones more expensive so there would be less meaningless podcasts like urs
He's talking about a different kind of art. There's a clear difference between "money laundering" art and "art" art.
Tom Gerrard is talking about how we all have the capacity to be artist. Our motives to create may differ but it will always come through in the art.
Being an artist and producing "art" for tax write offs is not the same. You think that red line on white canvas is art or tax evasion? You tell me.
This is a great question and worthy of longer conversation. The sentiment here is that we all have the capacity to create art and to take the endeavour seriously if we choose to. Our motives may differ and the output will be subjective.
@@futurehistoryx Could you wait for like 12 hours? I need to get sober for this conversation. Unless you want some real transcendental insight?
Ha nice. If you're up for it, I'm always keen for transcendental. This is a conversation on art after all...
@@futurehistoryx Art is a process. You don't make art for money, that's not art, that's work. Is the pepsi logo and art piece? Not to me, not in a sense that it is an artistic expression. It is a design made to invoke certain feelings, just like an art piece, but it lacks soul. Art is created to convey concepts and emotions that are abstract. That's my take.
I absolutely agree that art is a process of expression and done for the self although I disagree that making money from it discounts it as art. Why can't it be both an expression and a form of income? I also feel your comparison is apples to oranges. Art is for me, design is for them, 2 opposing objectives.
Loving this episode boys! Listening while i edit. Byron Bay for the win haha

Bala Luke!! Keen to watch this one
What a guy! This one will fill your spirit cup
I love streetwear. I think what the brand represents is just as important as the graphics and design. Represent something really important to you and the brand culture. As far as style, there are so many timeless things waiting on your twist. Do something different that nobody else is. You can do larger drops, but keep exclusive smaller drops to stay in demand.
Well put. What the brand represents is absolutely King. The prints and cuts are representations of that. WNDRR have done a great job in finding their own voice and that has come through being authentic in who they are and genuine with what they stand for.
Sahil a real G!
Game recognise game 🤜🤛
Interesting video thanks again...
It's always interesting to learn of another creative's approach to their work. Glad you enjoyed it!
Excited for this one
Plenty of great takeaways with this one!

Very enjoyable video, thank so much 😊
Thank you! I'm glad you got something out of it. Adrian has a great way of conveying concepts through storytelling. I've been fortunate enough to have had meaningful conversations with other creative folk. Is there a particular discipline of creativity you'd like to hear more about?
Well actually the storyteller Adrian is my son 😊 and l've heard many over the years. I like to listen to anything to do with the Arts. Thanks again
You come across as you know what you're doing hey 😂
Haha well in that case, you must be very proud. Looking forward to seeing "you" in Westgate 😁
As Adrian put it "No one knows what they're doing. You just got to look like you know what you're doing."
Quality content right here! Great convo fellas!
Thanks Lee! You're standard of quality is world-class so this means a lot 🙏
I'm getting the popcorn out for this one! Big ups to Kev
Nerd out with a fellow creative basketball fanatic 🎨🏀🤓

Thank you! There are a lot of inspiring creative people out there with a story to tell and feedback like this keeps it all going. Is there a particular creative discipline you'd like for me to cover?
Killing it natea!
Glad you shared this one mate. Think BIG Australia, lets get it!
Keep paving the way mate!
Nice one fellas. Keen to listen to this one
Get stuck into it! Nathan has a great perspective you'll no doubt relate to 🤙
💪🏼
This is definitely a thing
For some more so than others. However, growth through creativity should always be encouraged.
Idk maybe it’s the generation difference or state difference but I was told the exact opposite of this growing up
Every culture can be broken down further to several sub-subcultures. Some genuinely want to see others thrive while others, just not more so than them. Thankfully, sounds like you found yourself in good company
Trust your gut ALWAYS1
Hasn't betrayed you yet!
Go-getter 💪🏼
You know it! Leading by example 🙌
TMC!
Thanks for having me on the show mate! Love the space, the show and how you are pushing the creative scene. You are a gentleman!
Game recognise game. It was a pleasure having you on and breaking in the new studio. Thank you for sharing your stories and wisdom ❤️
Justin and Depthcore was such a huge inspiration for me. I was in the digital art community in those glory years between 2007-2012. I was not quite at the depthcore level but I always aspired to me. I work a regular 9-5 graphic design job and really want to get back to these roots. Hearing this convo today was really inspiring.
Sometimes all we need is a little nudge so I'm glad this was the inspiration you needed. Is there anywhere we we can check out your work?
