"Nyonya" refers to the female descendants of Chinese immigrants who came to the Malay Archipelago between the 15th and 17th centuries and married within the local communities. These women are part of the Peranakan or Straits Chinese community and are known for their unique culture and cuisine.
Pardon my mental lapse, I say twice in the video Jonker 88 but I meant Jonker Walk, the main street of the historical center. Jonker 88 is a place we ate in but not included in this video.
