Some background to give you context: My wife and I have been camping, hiking, backcamping in and around Yosemite and the backcountry of the High Sirras for over 40 years. We dgo up specifically to Yosemite 2x/yr by tradition, and pass through even more often on our way to the East Side. Even with all that the experience, the increasing complexity of the Yosemite reservation system[s] has lately proven dounting. When my wife referred me to your site I wasn dubious, ney doubtful I would learn anything, yet lo and behold, your tips made all the diferrence. THANKS. There is a oil filter tool, to remove the filter that you can buy at the dealership, but it only works on OEM filters only..

I guess you learned how difficult it is to control for all factors. Clearly you didn’t control for the amount of EV usage for all scenarios and most importantly you didn’t account for changes in potential wind conditions. These are so much larger an effect than the 1 or 2 mpg associated with the cross bars…

Thanks for the review. Interesting that the headroom is an issue. I'm car shopping, and this is on my list to check out. How have your seats been for long trips? I watched one review and that reviewer said that on a long trip, the seats became uncomfortable after about 90 minutes. Since this is difficult to assess during a "test drive" hearing from owners is very helpful. Passenger seats have become a pet peeve. Makers throw on things like nav systems, heated REAR seats, and panoramic sunroofs, but if you are fortunate enough to even get power on the passenger seat, it is near impossible in non-luxury brands (and maybe even in lux brands) to find a passenger seat with same number of adjustments as the driver's. Is it too much to ask for lumbar support for the passenger too? On a long trip, it seems likely that people might switch drivers, so why notlumbar support on both? I think a couple of adults over 40 might have some kind of back issues. :) Sounds like you are well-aware of the Highlander capability for towing, but the 5K might be for the non-hybrid. Not sure if the Woodland edition of the hybrid gives you more towing than the other trim levels in the RAV4 hybrid. On the Subaru side, you can get up to 3500 lbs towing with some Wilderness models or the Outback XT. (Of course, no PHEV and no hybrid). Thanks for sharing.

Thanks for this and your other videos. I just exercised the purchase option for my lease following the guidance you provided. I did this in 6 days after taking delivery of the Rav Prime. It saved me almost $6,000. I live in Arizona, but drove to San Diego, primarily due to availability of the car I wanted.

You guys asked a lot of excellent questions. Thank you for doing a good job, I hope they will include your input next time BEFORE finishing the model and ecoflow design.

It’s so sad they didnt plan for an easier way to use a portable panel. They did such a good job in so many ways, then they totally blow it. All they had to do was to speak to real world users first, and ask users what they need. Brain death is alive and well, and flourishing.

You have an older style spin on filter while newer Toyotas have a plastic or aluminum canister that houses a separate replaceable filter element. The black tool and the Motive X tool are specifically designed for the canister. There's dozens of different designs for spin on fliters, some work better than others. You also need to use a gasket on the drain plug before torquing to 30 foot pounds.

Thanks for sharing, actually looks pretty good and easy to assemble and put away. I was always considering a Gazelle but they were just still too big folded. This seems way more portable.

apprecaite the video! I've been changing my own oil in my 4runner for....15 years now? I was going to do it myself for the new rav4 since it seems easier to do. but i forgot about that first one where they torqued the bolt on so tight, it took 3 of us to take it off!

U have a great attitude! Im 71, have had HS auto shop/Certificate frm General Motors as a teen, & have repaired my own cars for decades. I broke bolts, stripped them, & broke parts, u name it. Thats how I learned. Next time, bring your filter WITH u when u buy your wrench. Try sticking to OEM parts & u can't go wrong. TIGHTEN FILTER BY HAND, u do NOT use tool. When u feel it bottom, turn it a 1/2 to 3/4 turn. Great safety practices u use. Tip: When RAV sits for a while, take a paper towel wipe it & read dip stick by laying it across dry clean part of paper towel. Will leave an oil mark. I TOTALLY agree with hard reading dip sticks. I own a 2019 Prius Limited. I keep a paper log of my mechanical work. I run winter tires/rims & car fax "hounds" me on rotating my tires. ALSO, I change cabin filter and traction battery filter & car fax doesn't log such work. So, MY method is more accurate. What year IS your RAV? OH! PS. Toyota tightens the "hell" out of bolts. Wait until u attempt to change your CVT fluid. (U loosen FILL plug FIRST, BEFORE drain plug.)

This is amazing and it’s making me want to buy a Rav 4 Prime.

In 2021 it made sense to buy the Rav 4 Prime. I sold back our 2019 Rav 4 Hybrid xLE for $33,900 or $6,500 more than I paid in 2019. Purchased a 2021 Prime for MSRP in 2021 $41,000. Subtract $7,500 tax credit and my before the out door price was $33,500. One more point, our Prime in hybrid mode actually nets the same or a little better mpg than our 2019 hybrid Rav 4 did because the battery is bigger so it will accept more regenerative breaking and downhill energy recovery than the much smaller battery in the hybrid only model of the Rav 4.

You can already tell the filter is on there tight a full turn from the sight of the Toyota logo. Hand tightened should have it facing away 1/4 turn.

My father had an accident at a Sunday parking lot. He was already leaving the area and out of middle of nowhere in the parking lot. Some guy decided to back up without looking both ways. My father was so pissed off at the oem horns and blames the horns for not being enough loud lol. So here I am. Wanting to change them. (The other driver is at fault though)

i got a 2024 rav4 prime XSE from my 2004 4Runner (300K miles). I've had the rav4 for a little over a month. I've gone a little over 1100 miles now, and have used about a tank and a half of gas despite making 2 trips from san diego to la and back. its worked out pretty nicely.

The shop did you dirty putting that filter on that tightly. hand tight until the seal touches the engine and then QUARTER TURN. these techs think they need to be super man to put the filter on.

I towed my 2003 Viking 2107 PUP (1800lbs MT) with a 2018 Jeep Cherokee complete with a tow pkg and 3.2L V6. I aver 18 MPG. I now tow a Gulf Stream 23 ft TT loaded @ 4000lbs. I avg 14MPG .

I use the same removal pliers on my tacoma. Don't give up, a band wrench might serve you better next time. You can do this!

Besides the Dodge Durango and Jeep CG, the Jeep Cherokee 4x4 equipped with the 3.2L V6 @ 271 Hp and factory tow pkg is rated at 4500 lbs towing/450lbs tow hitch on the Class 3 hitch. That includes a larger radiator, hvy duty transmission and oil cooler, full size spare tire, 4/7 pin tow plugs, trailer sway control. I avg 14 MPG towing my full size camper at 3900 lbs.

Thank you so much! I have a 2022 RAV4 Prime. I knew about removing the physical key to open the door, but my Prius Prime also had a hidden slot in the console to insert the key to start the car. I was in a panic with my RAV4, thinking I was stranded, but this saved me!
