Hello! I noticed that in your videos quite often the cat interacts with wild cottontails in one way or another. I think you don't see anything wrong with this, but something can be dangerous not only for rabbits, but also for your beautiful, beautiful cat, so please read this! To begin with, wild and domestic animals are not the same thing. And if wild animals live peacefully in nature, then domesticated species have no place there - and it's not about laws, criticism or the whims of animal rights activists, but the fact that everyone suffers from it: wild, domestic animals, and people themselves! Domesticated animals have modified DNA as a result of the formation of breeds by breeders and a long life with a person in the absence of their independence (they are always fed and cared for by the owner), therefore stray animals or pets released for an independent walk are either doomed to death, or they themselves bear death and, in fact, become parasites. No, I don't want to say that your cat is a parasite - but understand that he can be dangerous to nature and people, and also he can be put in danger if you don't monitor him and allow contact or attempts to attack wild animals! Firstly, this is because the chain of instinct (instinct is a chain of unconditional reflexes) in pets is almost always broken and not without flaws. That's why stray cats can kill a bunch of animals without stopping, more than they can eat. Therefore, many cats catch the victim and do not understand that it is food - they have always been fed ready-made food before they were on the street. Therefore, they can pose a huge danger to wild animal populations - they kill and do not eat those they have killed! This is especially dangerous for rare animals, and in your area, or at least on your continent, there is one rabbit that is endangered - the New England Cottontail. Secondly - diseases, infections, parasites. Even if a pet cannot catch and kill an animal, it will still harm it even with one scratch, because it's the easiest way to get infected and die. This also works in the opposite direction - wild animals can infect your cat and he will die! In the same way, they can attack him - do not think that small animals will not cope with him or will not attack. They are wild, which means they will try to survive by all means. Therefore, it is impossible to let pets out on independent walks without the supervision of their owners - they themselves can be killed if they do not like any wild animal! And it's an unequal battle for gentle pets. Let them be animals, but they have to live at home, because they are too used to us and the laws of nature no longer apply to them. Now they are under the care of a person, and people are responsible for them. If these animals that run around like rabbits are not so important to you, then take care of your cat! I am sure that he is very dear to you and you take care of him! In addition, the cat will be quite full if he eats ordinary food from a bowl - he does not necessarily need the meat that he can get. Cats have no need for mouse meat, there is only a need to eat meat. If you want your cat to be athletic, you can play with him or even train him - I think there is a lot of information about this on the Internet, but real hunting has too many risks and dangers for everyone, and domestic cats do not need it. Good luck and happiness to you and your cat!
Very sweet, but your cat chasing these wild rabbits is not funny even if your cat seems too clumsy to catch them. Cats have bacteria deadly to other mammals in their claws and teeth. All it takes is a scratch to kill from painful infection. Even if it doesn’t happen you’re encouraging others to let cats loose on wildlife for views, and those may turn out sadly. The rabbits are wildlife native to the USA, declining in numbers, due to precisely this kind of invasive species predation and other human causes like habitat loss and viruses. This particular species could even be endangered depending of where you are filming. Please just don’t let your cat outside ever again.
Beautiful 🐝
