Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus – Faith Healing and Rudimentary Medicine
The Sanctuary of Asclepius at Epidaurus is often described as a transition point from faith based healing to early empirically based rudimentary medicine. Patients traveled from throughout the Mediterranean in order to have the opportunity to sleep in the sacred Abaton where the God Asclepius was said to visit people in their sleep, oftentimes curing the patient just with his visit. With time, priests were incorporated to interpret a patient’s dream, often including their own practical knowledge of medicine as part of the treatment and assessing outcomes. An early example of the proto physician. In this video we will explore this ancient healing site.

Kerameikos - Cemetery of the Ancient Athenians
Переглядів 1672 місяці тому
Kerameikos is an often over looked tourist spot when visiting Athens however it is well worth the visit. On one side of the ancient Athenian walls lies the cemetery which predates every structure still standing on the Acropolis. On the other side of the wall lies the Potter’s Quarter and the Pompeion, the symbolic starting point of the fabled Panathenaic procession that celebrated Athena’s birt...
Delphi - Tourism in Antiquity
Переглядів 1573 місяці тому
Although the modern perception of Delphi is one where people traveled to consult with the prophetess at the Temple of Apollo, this would not be entirely true. Art, theater, sports, architecture were renowned at Delphi and inspired visits from people throughout the ancient non Greek world even if they had no plans for an oracular consultation. In fact, one could argue that Delphi was one of the ...
Temple of Hephaestus - Hephaestus Overcoming the Odds
Переглядів 1733 місяці тому
Here in the Ancient Agora of Athens lies the Temple of Hephaestus, dedicated to perhaps one of the most relatable gods of the Greek Pantheon. Cast out of Olympus by his mother, spurned by his adulterous wife and bestowed with unflattering epithets such as Hephaestus Kullopodiou (clubfooted) and Hephaestus Amphiguéeis (both feet crooked), the god Hephaestus appears to suffer many of the trials a...

Parthenon - More and Less than a Temple

Despite the popular perception of the Parthenon as the main temple for Athenians on the Acropolis research has shown that religious sacrifices did not take place here. In fact, the primary functional purpose of the early Parthenon was acting as an Athenian treasury with many of the religious rites and sacrifices taking place in the adjacent Erechtheum. In this video we will explore the history ...

Hello. Thank you for lesson! Take very good care of yourself 🎉
Glad you enjoyed it!
Most people carried their own Sea Sponge in a Tunic Sash. They used a Box of Sand & a stream of Aqueduct water to cleans their posterior extremities - The stick mechanism is actually a Latrine Swish, much like the Brushes in use today...
This opinion looks more rational. When they could use such clean (with provision to be wash away the sewer) and tidy system, they would not use a common tool clean
Curious to hear how your day at Sounion went. Did you go for a swim, enjoyed a seafood lunch, go kayaking?
Would you like to have spent the Hittite New Year at Yazılıkaya?
Brother you need to contact, Praveen Mohan. As a human first just suggesting.
I have never believed Josephus. How convenient that he could write whatever he liked that might have flattered the Romans.
His patrons were Emperor Vespasian and Emperor Titus for his books The Jewish War and Antiquities of the Jews so one can’t help be particularly suspicious. Also depending on perspective he was either a willing Roman captive or a Jewish traitor. Thanks for the comment!
Hello. This UA-cam channel is the best thing since sliced bred! Good luck! 🎉

Where was your favorite site to visit in Hattusa?
How do you know Hattians weren't a multi-cultural migrant group of Haitians? Did you know Haitian Creole was found on a coin of 'Enodia' in Greece depicting her holding torches as a 'police figure' in the community had a label 'epaioyn' if you sound it out it almost looks like 'feared one' in Haitian Creole. This wasn't a greek word. Implies they were distributing these coins in a 'multicultural area' with a police force. Was this propaganda, or pointing a finger at the criminal populace? Implies they used the same term for things no? These folks came to Central America from countries of Yoruba descent no? So these folks were wide spread as migrants even then (before slavery to the Americas). Were they overpopulators back then too? Today they're the Nigerians no? Notoriously highest birth rate of any peoples on the planet. Hittites were a multicultural hub no? They blended the blood of Africans Europeans and Native Asians here. I'm thinking these folks were the L1B Y-DNA Haplogroups from Kura-Araxes culture. A blend of European Yamnaya (R line), with a dash of Asian Native from over the Zagros mountains in Iran (J line) with some Upper Egyptian African blood (E line)....spits out this T1A group. Norse mythology can be linked to 'geographical archaeological sites sourced around Anatolia. They had multicultural peoples including 'dark elves' in their culture too. So they knew of black folks. Asgard was at Pessinus. (for favored men, of all cultures the local fertility mother intended to join bloodlines with and teach her children, as well as her sons and daughters) Midgard was at Gordian. (for working class men of all cultures, the fertility mother used to work her pastures and farms) Helheim was 'under Gordian'. (for prisoners and re-education centers for important folks they needed to turn) Dwarves were in Niflheim - Derinkuyu? (J2a line?) (she used these folks as craftsmen and workers mostly) Light elves were in Alfheim - Yazilakaya? (I2 line?) (she used these folks as priests, healers and musicians) Dark elves were in Nidavellir - Alacahoyuk? (L1B line?) (not clear what these folks were used for more workers? warriors? traders?) Vanir were in Vanaheim - Hattusa? (T1A line?) (these folks were scholars and traders) Jotun were all around them - (R lines?) European "Balkans" displaced from their homes in Syria (or Ebla and Mari) / Akkadia (Hurrian territories) / the Middle East (Sumeria) and the Mediterranean (Crete and Cyprus) from when the J-line came from Asia - Dvaraka then Qeshm Island, overpopulated and kicked them out of their homes. They eventually got pushed / led into Europe. I assume the largest city in Jotun was Jotunheim. Either in Troy (with an Athena temple) or Miletus. (an Apollo Temple at Didyma). Gotta give Norse mythology some credit for keeping the 'mythology' understandable. They talk of a great black Queen Nott who had three husbands of different races and children with each of them. One was "a dwarf", who birthed Frigga, Odin's Queen who was 'allocated the land' the Norse occupied in Anatolia Turkey. So she "gave this land" to the Norse and the Dwarves. Guess they changed their minds when they ran out of room in the Middle East. Clearly mommy Nott was preferring her African and Middle Eastern children. That the Balkans were the only ones to attack because 'they were not HER children or her parents'. She was African. Her primary husband king was Asian / Pacific Oceanic Native. So she couldn't attack those peoples. That just left white folks to prey on for resources when her own lands couldn't feed her children...because they were having too many I guess.
I want to provide a warm congratulations to everyone who has visited Alacahöyük! It’s a pretty difficult place to visit for many people visiting from outside of Türkiye (Turkey).
Where was the most interesting place you visited in the Old City of Jerusalem?

What most impressed you about the Parthenon?
What was your favorite building on the Acropolis and why?
In the ruins of Ostia is a public toilet with the inscription "Don't forget to use the Xylospongium" on the wall. It is improbable that this is a demand for personal hygiene in those days. It is much more a request to clean the toilet seat. Isn't that very convincing?
So we have the fact that Roman civilization was using big amounts of water, many times coming from very far away, of the best posible quality, running trough impressive aqueducts, tunnels and pipes, all of them constructed and kept in order for centuries, for sanitation and for the rare tradition of taking a bath more often than in many modern-day Western European countries, and to the end they were cleaning their bottoms with a communal piece of sponge??
I feel like history is not always totally correct especially that long ago. I choose to believe there were more modest things in place like fabric dividers on wooden frames and so forth. Just sayin'.🎉

And, when Paul says, why worship the things made with men's hands? Why not worship He who made men's hands?!?!... Even practical advice to this day!. So clear!. Yes, the riot DID take place!. And God preserved this theater because He was glorified right here. Neither the temple, statues nor the men talked about exist. But the theater does!. God is not mocked! Might sound harsh, but it's the truth. And truth is hard to swallow sometimes.
Such a great video!. Loved the biblical text right on the screen superimposed over the actual places!. Nice editing work!!. Out of everyone who was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write, Paul's writings have always affected me the most. Jesus' compassion and mercy speak the loudest in Paul's letters. Best video on Paul and Ephesus I've seen thus far!!. Nice work!!. ❤️ from Michigan.
Thank you for the kind words. Glad you enjoyed the video!
Romans were very fond of toilet humour. Pee, poop and fart jokes were an integral part of Roman culture. The nature of their toilet infrastructure may well be linked to that in some way. I always love learning about how other cultures absolutely do not care about our modern taboos. We all stink when we poop. Every one of us.
"A place for conversation"?? You gotta be shittin' me!!
Human beings being poop makers is why the one third of angels rejected serving man. I understand.
Can i have that sponge when youre finished, sir? 😂
Been to Ephesus, saw the toilets and definitely no privacy..
Glad you got to tour Ephesus and of course visit the foricae!
Would you build this burial mound if you were King of Commagene?
Everyone wiping themselves with the same brush. We still do this today at the gas station with the same squeegee soaking in the water bucket we all use to wipe our windshields.
That whole sponge on a stick thing sounds so disgusting .i could never wipe myself with something some other dude just used .i throw up in my mouth just thinking about it
