Thank you so much for this idea. All your points are totally relatable. I’m going to add each one to my own sketchbook.

What are your favourite messages to yourself? Comment below! ✍🏻
Grazie tante carissimo. I love this idea and especially your quotes. My favorite is “Beauty is in confidence, not perfection.” This is a wonderful thought and just what this perfectionist (me!) needs to keep in mind.
Prego 🙂 Glad it is helpful.
I’ve been using the smaller size for a couple years now. A couple points: a) mine has no discernible “slop” in the fit of the mixing surface. I was an early adopter so the tolerances may have been tighter when they were first starting up. Just speculation on my part though. b) Although I’ve heard others say they think the u.go is “light”, I think it’s a bit heavy, and I wish it weren’t so thick. My Open Box M is larger, much thinner, and appreciably lighter. (I’ve had it for a good many years, so I don’t know if the design has changed in that time.) c) You do need a wet panel carrier with this pochade box, unlike the Open Box M system, which has a pretty nifty storage built into the carrying box. That said, the Open Box M system (box and pochade together) are much bigger and bulkier. My u.go is solid, the magnets are fool proof, and it’s my favorite for making small plein air paintings. Oil paint just wipes off with a paper towel. I use a palette knife for any blobs; that gets stored in a small pill bottle and mixed into one of many neutrals I’ve saved just to have them when needed. Bottom line is that I quite like this palette.
Thanks for your comment.
What sticker album did you have as a kid?
Looks beautiful!
@@barbaragodawska thanks so much 😊
Bravo!
Thank you 🙂
Great work Do you know perhaps what the ink pen you used is called?
Thank you. I used a Sailor fude de mannen 55. it comes with 2 Sailor cartridges of water soluble black ink.
Looks amaizing but i miss one thing : close up to see details :) in small smartphone screen its hard to see any detail . Anyway continue your great job 👍
Thank you for your comment, this is really great feedback 🙂
Grazie Rob!
When you say water soluble- I’m assuming non-waterproof? Like fountain pen ink? All my ink is water soluble but all waterproof…. I’ve heard some artists recommend adding or thinning ink with a small amount of ammonia or even a bit of windex. Are there water soluble non-waterproof inks?
Yes, water soluble or non-waterproof, usually the one that comes standard in most fountain pens. The reason is that it has more flow being it water based and it won't permanently dry on the nib. Some fountain pen like the Kakuno comes with a more water resistant type of ink, very nice too for light washes of watercolor. Even waterproof ink can increase flow by diluting it with a little bit of distilled water. If you let some non-waterproof or water resistant ink dry fully (depending on the ink) they will not completely dissolve with water but still smudge leaving behind a grey colored area. So maybe your ink might just be water resistant?
Thank you for your video. Other than the angle of the Fude bend, 40 vs 50\55, is there any other difference? Thank you Rob.
Thank you for watching :) In the video I'm using the 55. I haven't tried the 40 yet, but I'm pretty sure that the only difference between the two is that the 40 degree angle one makes thinner lines.
@@RobDomeArt Thank you very much.

Great video
Thank you
@@RobDomeArt I just got a Fude nib too. I got to this stage in my drawing where I’ve been obsessed with technical pens. And calligraphy nibs. And the line work of Edward Gorey. I saw your video title just after I ordered a Fude pen. And I found the properties as you mentioned- exactly. Using an ink wash was was new to me in a way. I’ve been creating things out of spilled ink blobs or my line practice for muscle memory. Shapes I see. Also, I saw a comment where someone mentioned they benefited from this vid in regard to structural sketching. I felt the same way. Sketching and showing someone your sketchbook takes much courage, but doing so in a channel is very brave and I think it’s wonderful. I look forward to your new drops. Especially inky ones.
Thanks so much for your kind words, I'm really happy to hear the video was useful. I completely get it :P Once I tried a fountain pen I got obsessed too, I also use technical pens. Working on my next video, is going to be a Fude nib one ;)
Pretty neat! Actually, I prefer "A" -- it's looser and more organic
Thank you. I guess it's also because I like the paper in A more, it's my favourite sketchbook so far :P
Yes, I have one of these. Excellent pen. But use Sailor ink, it's v black, and the cartridges are good.
Thanks for your comment
Btw I really learn how to sketch structures with the help of this video thank u
Glad to hear :) thanks for watching

Sailor's Fude de Mannen! 😍 I have yet to pick mine up. What did you think of this pen, Rob?
It's quite nice, I need more practice with it but it definitely makes it easier to add variations to the lines thickness. Variety is a great thing in drawing/painting 😉
@robdomeart Certainly makes the sketch more interesting! 😃 I can't wait to get mine! Will be using mine for both art and kanji practice.
Thank you for explaining how you go about creating shadows, Rob. I've learned quite a lot! 😄
It's great to hear, thanks so much for your comment😋
Beautiful
Thank you
Woah, did you use any special paper or ink?
Thanks, standard ink that came with the fountain pen. It's a mixed media paper sketchbook.
@ ah okay tyy! Looks awesome:)
That's a talent..
Glad you liked it ☺️
Both Great! but I choose "A" *question: do you draw on the left page of sketchbook because it gives right hand more space to move around over the paper?
Thank you for your comment. I actually prefer to draw on the right page and I usually leave the left page blank. I am trying to push myself to use both pages to avoid waste 😅
Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching 😊
omg that's so cool and beautiful
Thank you :)

A!
Thanks for your comment and your vote 😋
Hey iam a beginner, can u help me What should i buy a fountain pen with fine nib. or Fineliners... 😅😅..
Hi, I like both honestly, they are both very nice to draw with and always bring one of each with me, but they give a very different feeling. A fineliner feels a bit more technical, the lines come out the same thickness, it's a little easier to control and draw tiny details with it in my opinion. A fountain pen F or EF nib can give you that and also more variations and allows for more expression, I also personally love the scratching sound of the nib on paper. However a fountain pen needs a bit more of extra care, between ink refilling, cleaning etc. Myself I started with fineliners and currently I can't stop using fountain pens 😅But they are tools, sometimes you feel using one sometimes the other. Hope it helps. Let me know what you end up buying 🙂
For me B is better, I think the light comes from the left. On the first sketch it's not clear to see.
Thanks for your comment and yes, I do think I improved clarity in the second one. 🙂
Do you prefer A or B?
b is certainly more accurate to the reference but i like the more stylized approach taken with a
@@elrite Definitely something to think about, thanks for your comment

Thanks for watching. I am liking exploring more with drawing with ink and particularly fountain pens lately.
Thx for this sharing Roberto 😍🙏🌹 very interesting way to sketch and beautifull result, too 👍 have a nice week-end
Thank you for watching :) I hope you have a great weekend too.
Was my INKling correct? 😅🤭
Such a beautiful image making process
Thanks so much!
I dont like any pochade box with tripod at bottom plate...its too wobbly
Honestly the medium size one I have doesn't wobble at all when on my tripod. But I can't speak for the larger one as I haven't tried it.
Just refill the empty cartridge with the help of a blunt needle syringe. If you really want a converter, however, I highly recommend the Pilot Con-70N. As for ink recommendations: Platinum Carbon, De Atramentis Document, De Atramentis Archive, De Atramentis Artist, Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK, Octopus Fluids Write & Draw.
Thanks for the tips. That's a lot of ink to try 😄Do you have a favourite one?
@robdomeart No, thank YOU for that lovely sketch! It was an absolute pleasure seeing you painting. 😊 Well, being an artist on a tight budget I usually go for whichever is cheaper. For me, that's a bottle of Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK. I find it to hit the price/quality sweet spot without breaking the bank. One good thing about this ink is that it dries fast, making it perfect for watercolors.
@@izzyg8316 Thanks so much for your kind words 🙂on a very quick search I noticed some ink is hard to find here in Australia or more expensive 😟I'll definitely check this one out, thanks again 😀
@robdomeart If you don't mind me asking, what watercolor brand do you use? They're so vibrant! Oh, which ones are you having trouble finding? The German inks? What about Noodler's? It's an American brand. Do they sell over there? Around here a bottle of Platinum Carbon can go for around 25-30€. 😬 Meanwhile, a bottle of Rohrer & Klingner SketchINK I goes for less than 11€. Big difference. Although I must confess I'd love to try De Atramentis Artist and Octopus Fluids Write & Draw one of these days. They're both under 20€.
I use Daniel Smith's watercolors. I like these, but I haven't tried all the brands :P for now I found Platinum carbon, Rohrer&Klingner and Octopus Fluids all around your higher price point, Noodler's ink slighly below. I think I might just try the Platinum Carbon and try to make it last eheh :P
wow! I love the colors and the sketch!
@@alm5851 Thank you 😊
